Chapter 99 - I Refuse to Let Kakashi Become a Shinobi

Chapter 99: I Refuse to Let Kakashi Become a Shinobi

"There's no way. I will never agree to let Kakashi become a ninja."

Yusuke's voice was firm, his tone leaving no room for argument. From the beginning, he had never been comfortable with the shinobi world.

As someone who had originally come from an ordinary world, he knew—perhaps better than anyone—the true dangers that lurked behind the glamor of the ninja life.

Now, in a world filled with conflict, the last thing he wanted was to see his little brother stepping onto a battlefield soaked in blood.

Even though the future of Konohagakure would enjoy brief moments of peace, the cold truth still loomed: three Great Ninja Wars... and while Kakashi would survive them all, the scars of losing his comrades would remain forever etched into his soul.

Moreover, because of Yusuke's presence, Kakashi in this timeline had grown up leaning more on others. He wasn't as emotionally hardened or battle-forged as his original counterpart, who had been shaped by isolation and endless war.

Yusuke understood all too well: in this world, power didn't belong to those with effort alone. Without a proper system, without a powerful bloodline... strength was often a privilege. Even someone like Might Guy—though dazzling—was ultimately a fleeting star in the shinobi sky.

"Yusuke, you're a son of the Hatake clan," Sakumo said sternly, arms crossed. "It's only natural to contribute to the village. What's wrong with being a ninja and protecting your homeland?"

He couldn't believe a child Yusuke's age would say something like this. Most kids—even Kakashi—dreamed of following in their parents' footsteps and becoming powerful shinobi.

But Yusuke… was different. And as his father, Sakumo felt it was his duty to guide him back on the right path.

"Father, you of all people should understand how dangerous this world truly is. I won't let Kakashi be swallowed by it," Yusuke replied, his voice low but firm. "He can learn ninjutsu if he wants. But becoming a ninja? Absolutely not."

Just as his words hung in the air, the sound of small footsteps echoed from behind the door.

Kakashi walked out with his usual dead-fish-eyed expression—but this time, there was a glint of fire behind them.

"Big Brother… I want to become a ninja. A strong one… just like Dad," he said, his small voice steady with determination.

"Shut it! I won't allow this!" Yusuke snapped, his emotions finally boiling over. "Go back to your room and sleep! Say something like that again, and I swear I'll break your legs myself!"

"Yusuke, you're still young," Sakumo intervened, trying to calm the situation. "One day you'll understand…"

"Don't treat me like a naive child," Yusuke growled, his eyes now filled with a deep, burning fury. "I'm not blaming you, Father, so don't insult my resolve. I just… I just don't want Kakashi to end up dying like an animal on some battlefield!"

His voice trembled—not from fear, but from rage barely held back.

"I'm his older brother! Isn't it only natural I want to protect him?! You've been through war. You know how cruel it is. Do you really want him to go through that too?"

Sakumo fell silent.

He hadn't expected such raw emotion from his eldest son. Nor had he realized just how much Yusuke seemed to know… as if he had seen the future of the shinobi world with his own eyes.

"Big Brother... this is my path," Kakashi said calmly. "It's my Nindō. I want to protect what's important. Just like you… and just like Father."

"Kakashi…"

Yusuke looked at his little brother—his heart a chaotic swirl of anger, fear, and pride.

"I give up..." he muttered at last, exhaling deeply. "If that's truly your choice… then I won't stop you."

He paused for a moment, then added, "But know this—the path of a shinobi is never easy. Every step you take will be lined with pain, loss… and death."

He didn't want Kakashi to hate him. Not when he was simply trying to protect him.

Now, years later, Yusuke could only sigh as he remembered that moment.

Even with power that now bordered on invincibility… he couldn't always be there to protect his little brother.

That would be too selfish.

Besides, deep inside, Yusuke knew his journey was far from over. The power he held didn't belong to this world—and there would be a price for that.

"I still need to get stronger…" he muttered, clenching his fists tightly.

Some events might no longer follow the original story. But with his current strength, Yusuke had already shifted the flow of destiny.

And with that came the Butterfly Effect—rippling out endlessly into the future. He still didn't know what cards Black Zetsu or other hidden threats might play.

So he had to prepare.

His next target: Sage Mode.

Fortunately, his current relationship with the Legendary Sannin was decent enough. He had ways to reach them… and learn.

But before that, his destination would be Mount Myōboku.

The toads' Sage Mode was renowned for enhancing perception and ninjutsu—perfect for stabilizing his foundation. If he truly intended to obtain the Tenseigan, he needed to be fully prepared.

After all, the Tenseigan was a dōjutsu born from the combined power of countless Byakugan—tied to the bloodline of Ōtsutsuki Hamura himself. Anyone seeking it wouldn't be an ordinary shinobi.

And let's not forget, Yusuke still had his sights set on the Yami Yami no Mi and Gura Gura no Mi—two Devil Fruits from another world.

Especially the Yami Yami no Mi, which was rumored to be four times more valuable than the Ope Ope no Mi.

Getting his hands on something like that… wouldn't be easy.

With that thought in mind, Yusuke decided to visit Minato and seek out a contract with the Wise Toads of Mount Myōboku.

After that, he would aim for Ryūchi Cave and Shikkotsu Forest. Each of the three Sage grounds offered unique strengths—Shikkotsu Forest enhanced the body, Ryūchi Cave strengthened the mind, and Mount Myōboku improved perception and chakra control.

For Yusuke… Mount Myōboku was the perfect place to start.

Later that evening...

After dinner, the three of them returned home. As they walked in, they spotted Sakumo in the kitchen, wearing an apron and busily preparing a meal.

"Dad? I thought you were supposed to be manning the store?" Yusuke raised an eyebrow.

"You're back? Great timing. Come eat," Sakumo said with a soft smile. "I closed shop a little early today."

"Alrighty! Kakashi, get your butt over here!" Yusuke shouted, flopping into his seat. Kakashi stood frozen at the entrance, dumbfounded.

Even with Life Return, the fullness in his belly from lunch still lingered. His stomach groaned just looking at more food.

"…Dad, what's going on?" Yusuke asked, suspicion creeping in.

"It's nothing," Sakumo replied with a faint smile. "It's just... you'll be leaving soon. And I realized it's been a while since the three of us shared a quiet dinner. Kakashi's been so busy lately…"

"Haha… What, are you afraid of becoming a lonely old man?" Yusuke grinned. "Don't worry, you'll never get old, Pops."

Sakumo simply rolled his eyes.

Kakashi didn't bother reacting. He was used to his brother's ridiculous remarks. But for some reason... tonight felt a little different.

Maybe it was the quiet. Or the warmth.

"Such a brat. You should learn from your little brother. Kakashi's more mature than you," Sakumo muttered, annoyed.

"Kakashi? Pfft, he's just a wannabe adult. A poser with style!" Yusuke scoffed, stuffing rice into his mouth without pause.

"Big Brother! I am not! Dad's right—you're the one with the worst personality here!" Kakashi snapped.

"Awww~ Come on, Kakashi. By the way… that mask of yours? It's ugly. Take it off already," Yusuke teased, grinning.

"He's right. Even I don't see your face that often," Sakumo added, rubbing his chin.

"No way!" Kakashi refused immediately.

"Jeez. Just because of a tiny mole under your eye? You're really dragging down the Hatake family's visual reputation, you know? Sure, you're not as handsome as me, but still... you're my little brother!"

Yusuke burst into triumphant laughter.

Ironically… he wasn't wrong.

The Hatake men were all ridiculously good-looking. In the future, when Kakashi finally took off his mask, he'd become a heartthrob across the village. Sakumo, the famous White Fang of Konoha, was known for both his charisma and charm.

And Yusuke?

He compared his appearance to Gojō Satoru—and what's more, his confidence in his looks probably outweighed his confidence in his actual strength.
