Chapter 106 – Battle Against Obito
"Hand over the girl."
Obito's voice cut through the air like a blade, cold and emotionless. Without waiting for a response, he formed a hand seal.
From the ground, a swarm of sharp wooden roots shot toward Hatake Yusuke at breakneck speed—Wood Release: Cutting Sprigs Technique.
At the same time, the remaining Kirigakure shinobi, who had noticed Yusuke's presence, moved in to surround and attack him.
"Don't waste my time."
Yusuke didn't even glance their way. He casually raised his hand, and in an instant, a blinding streak of light tore through the air—taking down a hidden mist ninja with deadly precision.
The strike was so swift and efficient, it felt as if a simple wave of his hand could tear apart the world itself.
His focus was locked solely on Obito now. A lesson needed to be taught to this former classmate of his.
"He's even using the Cutting Sprigs Technique... I see now why Madara chose him as his successor," White Zetsu murmured from a distance. "But even so... that won't be nearly enough against a monster like him."
Yusuke vanished. His body split into glowing particles and reappeared right beside Obito—delivering a vicious roundhouse kick aimed directly at the side of his head.
Despite not seeing the attack with his Sharingan in time, Obito's body suddenly flickered—his form turned immaterial as he activated Kamui, phasing into another dimension to avoid the blow.
"Oh? That's quite an impressive technique." Yusuke gave a thin smirk. For the first time, his speed—which easily surpassed the speed of sound—had failed to connect.
In the blink of an eye, he returned to Kakashi's side. Obito remained silent, but his breathing grew ragged. A bead of cold sweat slid down his face.
If he had hesitated even one second… his head would've been gone.
Then, Obito retaliated.
Fire Release: Majestic Destroyer Flame.
A massive wall of fire roared toward Yusuke with terrifying intensity. Obito unleashed it without hesitation—but the moment he caught sight of Rin and Kakashi still lying behind Yusuke, his expression changed drastically.
"No!" he cried out inwardly.
But he was too late.
Yusuke calmly lifted two fingers and pointed ahead. A transparent barrier formed before him, halting the overwhelming flames mid-air, incinerating them harmlessly into nothing.
"To be fair, your abilities are quite unique," Yusuke said with his eyes still closed, his voice calm yet filled with overwhelming weight. "But if I wanted to take you down, I already have five different ways to do it."
"For starters… Room."
A familiar blue hemispheric dome instantly expanded from Yusuke's body, swallowing the entire battlefield. Obito instinctively felt a chill run down his spine.
"Switch."
In a flash, Yusuke was behind him. A heavy punch connected with Obito's back before he could react.
Boom!
Obito was launched forward, crashing into the dirt.
"Why…? I activated Kamui…"
"It's simple," Yusuke said flatly, standing within his glowing domain. "Inside this space, I control everything. Even the rules of your own technique."
Obito froze.
He understood Kamui. It allowed him to phase into another dimension to avoid all physical damage. But Yusuke… had turned the entire area into his personal operating room—an environment where he could manipulate space and even time at will.
Even worse, if Yusuke really wanted to, he could shatter Kamui's dimension itself using the power of the Gura Gura no Mi, the Tremor-Tremor Fruit.
But… with Kakashi and Rin nearby, he held back. He couldn't risk total annihilation.
"Tch… damn it…"
Obito got to his feet again. With a furious yell, he leapt into the air. His arms morphed into deadly wooden spears—Wood Release: Piercing Thorns—and launched them toward Yusuke.
But Yusuke didn't move.
The spears closed in.
Then—
Tsshhh…
His body ignited into blue flames and vanished.
"…A clone?"
Obito's eyes widened. He looked around—just in time to see Yusuke reappear above, floating gracefully, with one hand grabbing Kakashi and Rin, the other clenched into a fist.
Cracks spread from his knuckles into the very air around him. Reality seemed to tremble.
"Airquake."
A wave of invisible force erupted outward—enough to rupture dimensions themselves.
"Kamui!" Obito panicked, trying to phase out.
But nothing happened.
"What…? My dimension… it won't respond?!"
The shockwave smashed into him head-on. His body convulsed as he spat blood, agony radiating from every organ—as though his insides were being crushed from every direction.
Only now did he understand the true scale of Yusuke's power.
Wheezing, Obito glared at him. His Mangekyō Sharingan still burned, filled with rage and sorrow.
"I… I can't move… Kamui's not activating… why…"
"Because I've already shattered the space around you," Yusuke replied, turning his back. "You have potential… but right now, you're still weak."
And with that, he walked away.
Obito's vision blurred, and darkness took him.
"Zetsu," Yusuke said coldly, "tell Madara… I won't allow this to happen again."
"…Understood, Yusuke-sama." White Zetsu gave a deep bow. Before this man, he didn't dare make a joke.
Then, without another word, Zetsu vanished—taking Obito with him.
Yusuke let out a slow breath.
"There's still hope."
He opened his left eye—Rinnegan with six tomoe shimmered in the moonlight. Using its power, he confirmed it—Rin's soul hadn't completely vanished.
"Room."
Again, the blue dome expanded. With surgical precision granted by the Ope Ope no Mi, he extracted a fresh heart from a fallen enemy and transplanted it into Rin's body.
Then, with the Human Realm Path, he sealed her soul into the body—stabilizing it.
She wouldn't awaken for now… but at least… her body lived.

Night fell.
Crackling embers danced in the firelight.
Kakashi stirred.
His eyes slowly opened.
"Rin…!"
His voice echoed into the silent forest.
"You're awake," came Yusuke's voice from across the fire. He sat casually with his back turned.
"Onii-san…? Where's Rin?"
Kakashi remembered everything in an instant. Guilt squeezed his chest like a vice.
"Obito… I'm sorry… I failed to protect her…"
"Enough. Don't drown in it," Yusuke replied calmly. "As long as I'm here, Rin won't die."
"Really…?"
Kakashi stumbled to his feet, rushing over.
"Of course. When have I ever lied to you?" Yusuke chuckled, ruffling his little brother's messy hair.
"But how…? Her heart…"
"She was impaled by your Chidori. I can't create organs from nothing… not yet. But I transplanted a heart into her body to keep her stable."
Kakashi lowered his head. The guilt weighed heavily on him.
He knew—no matter what—Obito would never forgive this.
Unbeknownst to him, his Sharingan had evolved—fully forming into the three-tomoe pattern.
"Is it really… possible to save her…?" Kakashi asked, his voice trembling.
"Absolutely. I still have several methods."
One of them… was to create a new heart using Yin-Yang Release, then fully restore Rin's soul with the Human Realm Path. But Yusuke hadn't yet perfected that.
And if all else failed…
There was still Rinne Rebirth.
Hearing his brother's certainty, Kakashi felt the weight in his chest finally ease.
He knew—if Yusuke said he could do something… then he would. If he couldn't, he never would've promised in the first place.
"She's safe now, in my personal space. Only I can enter it, so don't worry. Now, eat something."
Yusuke pulled a roasted rabbit from a scroll and handed it to him.
Kakashi accepted it and began to eat slowly.
"…By the way, Nii-san… why are your eyes closed all the time?" Kakashi asked curiously.
"Ah, this? It's nothing. Just a slight irritation."
"…Did you get hurt saving me?" Kakashi's face clouded with guilt again.
"…Pfft."
Yusuke laughed.
"Idiot. I'm the strongest guy around. Like I'd get hurt that easily." He flicked Kakashi on the forehead with a knuckle.
Kakashi gave an embarrassed smile.
But deep down…
He was relieved.
His brother was still with him.
And as for Rin…
There was still hope.
