Chapter 105 - Obito Trapped in Darkness

Chapter 105 – Obito Trapped in Darkness

"Then I'll begin the transplant right away," Hatake Yusuke said firmly, without a hint of hesitation.

He wasn't the type to waste time with unnecessary talk—especially not now. Right at this moment, he needed the power of the eyes left behind by the Sage of Six Paths more than anything else.

Not just for the basic abilities of the Six Paths Technique, but for one specific jutsu he had always coveted—Rinne Rebirth.

And for someone like Yusuke, replacing eyeballs was nothing more than a minor procedure—easier than eating or drinking. After all, he possessed the powers of the Ope Ope no Mi, the surgical Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allowed him to perform miraculous operations.

"Room."

A pale blue, dome-shaped energy field instantly formed in his hand and spread outward, enveloping the surroundings in an instant.

Before the astonished eyes of the Great Toad Sage, Yusuke began the transplant—on himself.

Of course, he didn't simply discard his original eyes. Using the Ope Ope Fruit, he sealed them away in a special dimensional space for safekeeping.

With deft precision, he removed the container holding the pair of legendary Rinnegan and carefully inserted them into his eye sockets. The entire procedure took less than a minute—no blood, no pain, no mistakes.

He kept his eyes closed for a moment… and then, slowly, opened them.

An immense surge of power exploded from his pupils, sending out an invisible shockwave that swept across the sacred land of Mount Myōboku. The pressure in the air trembled under the sheer presence of his new eyes.

Twin Rinnegan, each bearing six Tomoe, now glowed in his gaze—marking them as the original eyes of Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo, the Sage of Six Paths himself.

"Incredible… this power is terrifying," Yusuke muttered, awe spreading across his face. "No wonder he was hailed as a god."

He gave a deep, respectful bow. "Thank you, Great Toad Sage. I owe you more than I can express."

"So it's true… you're the one Hagoromo foresaw," the old Sage murmured, voice tinged with emotion. "To think you could activate them instantly… And that technique you used earlier... I've never seen such a thing in all my centuries in the shinobi world."

Yusuke chuckled softly. "I just got lucky, really. But I can't stay. I need to return to Konoha immediately—there's something I must take care of."

The Great Toad Sage nodded solemnly. "Then go. The fate you carry won't wait."

"Until we meet again, Great Toad Sage."

With that, Yusuke vanished from the sacred land.

In the blink of an eye, he reappeared before Fukasaku and Shima.

"Thank you both for everything. But I need to return to the village right away. Please use Reverse Summoning to bring me back to Minato-nii."

One of the smaller toads jumped away, leaping through space to deliver the message.

Moments later, a summoning circle lit up—and Yusuke stepped through it.

"Long time no see, Minato-nii," Yusuke greeted calmly.

"Yusuke? Why are your eyes closed?" Minato asked, frowning.

"Ah… they're just a little sensitive right now. Sorry, Minato-nii. I have to leave right away."

Just as he turned to go, he paused. "By the way… where's Kakashi?"

"He's on a mission right now," Minato replied.

Yusuke's heart skipped a beat. No… don't tell me—

He didn't say another word. He disappeared instantly.

Minato furrowed his brow. "Hmm? That space-time technique… it felt different somehow."

Far away, standing in a silent forest, Yusuke slowly opened his eyes. The rippling rings of the Rinnegan glowed faintly.

"Takamagahara," he whispered.

With the aid of Sage Chakra, the Rinnegan allowed him to glimpse a sliver of the future.

And what he saw… sent a chill down his spine.

Kakashi... cradling Rin's lifeless body.

"How could I have forgotten something this important?! Damn it!"

He immediately activated the power of the Door Door Fruit, slicing open a shimmering doorway through dimensions. He leapt through several points in space in rapid succession.

And then—he arrived.

So did someone else.

A young boy was sprinting toward the same place, his red Sharingan eyes spinning wildly—Uchiha Obito.

"Rin… Kakashi… please be safe! I have to save her…!" Obito ran with all his might, desperation gripping his every breath.

Meanwhile, Kakashi and Rin were locked in a desperate flight from Kirigakure ninja.

But something was wrong. Rin felt it—an ominous chakra within her. Something had been implanted. She knew that if she returned to Konoha like this, she could become a weapon of destruction.

"Kakashi… I can't go back to the village. Please… kill me now," she said quietly, yet firmly.

"What are you saying, Rin?" Kakashi's voice trembled.

"Listen to me. If I return, they might use me to destroy Konoha. I… I won't let that happen. Please, Kakashi. End it before it's too late."

"I… I promised Obito I would protect you!" Kakashi's voice cracked, tears pooling in his eyes.

Before he could decide—before he could even think—the enemy was upon them again.

Kakashi spun around. "Chidori!"

He dashed forward, lightning shrieking from his hand.

But at that very moment… Rin leapt into his path.

There was no time to stop.

His eyes widened.

"Rin—?!"

Her eyes met his—filled with both sorrow and determination.

"Ka…ka…shi…"

Someone was watching.

Frozen.

Terrified.

Eyes wide with horror.

Obito.

"No… This… This can't be real…"

He stood paralyzed, staring at Rin's lifeless body.

The three tomoe in his eyes spun wildly, merging and reshaping into a new form—a shuriken pattern. The Mangekyō Sharingan awakened through pure, unimaginable grief.

Obito let out a scream that shook the ground, then launched forward like a demon unleashed. The ground beneath his feet shattered from the force of his chakra.

"I'm too late…" Yusuke muttered, frowning as he arrived just moments after.

He stared at Kakashi—collapsed and unconscious—and at Obito, who raged like a storm incarnate.

"But… things haven't completely fallen apart yet."

He moved quickly, appearing next to Rin's body in a flash.

Obito's red eyes snapped to him instantly.

"Put her down…" he growled.

There was venom in his voice. Mistrust. Fury. Pain.

Yusuke didn't move. "Oh? Was that a threat?"

"Obito, don't! Don't be reckless! That man… you'll die if you fight him!" came a warning from deep within—Zetsu speaking from inside Obito's body. He knew all too well just how terrifying Yusuke truly was.

Even with Mangekyō awakened, even with Wood Release abilities—Obito was still far from ready. His powers were fresh. Unstable. Incomplete.

"This world is rotten… I'll change it. I'll build a world where Rin is still alive!"

Obito clenched his fists, eyes trembling with madness. The seed of an idea—one born from pain—began to bloom in his heart.

"Hey… you with the Sharingan," Yusuke said quietly, eyes sharp. "You're from the Uchiha clan, aren't you? You really wanna fight me right now?"

Obito knew. He knew who this man was.

Even if they'd never met face to face, even if he'd only heard the stories—he knew.

He didn't stand a chance.

Not now.

Not even with both Mangekyō.

But still… he stepped forward.

Because in his heart, only one thing mattered:

He would never let Rin's body fall into Konoha's hands.
