Chapter 219 - The Pinnacle of Ninjutsu

Chapter 219 – The Pinnacle of Ninjutsu

"It's about time, Toneri, my beloved disciple," Yusuke said with a faint, teasing smile curling on his lips.

Toneri immediately tensed, his entire body coiling with readiness. His instincts screamed at him to stay alert.

"Please, Sensei," Toneri replied, his tone steady but filled with resolve.

"Relax a little," Yusuke said, still smiling. "It'll be over before you know it—roughly… 0.2 seconds of danger, give or take."

He lifted his hand and slowly removed the blindfold covering his eyes, revealing a pair of piercing azure-blue pupils that shimmered with an otherworldly light.

Toneri furrowed his brows. Was his master really implying that he was that weak?

"Watch carefully," Yusuke said, his expression turning serious. "What you're about to see is the very pinnacle of the Ninjutsu world."

"The… pinnacle?" Toneri echoed.

"You could call it the ultimate ability—one that can't be defeated," Yusuke said calmly.

Toneri resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Of course it is. Every single one of his master's techniques had always sounded absurdly overpowered.

"Domain Expansion," Yusuke said softly, crossing his index and middle fingers together.

A cold bead of sweat rolled down Toneri's temple. His master—Hatake Yusuke—was actually performing a hand seal. That almost never happened.

Yusuke often said that if a technique was powerful enough, forming seals was a waste of time.

So if he was using one now, it could only mean this was no ordinary move.

Had Yusuke known what Toneri was thinking, he probably would've smacked him on the head.

He was just being dramatic for effect.

"It's starting," Toneri muttered under his breath as he felt Yusuke's chakra surge—a vast ocean of power pouring outward, condensing, and then vanishing completely. Even his immense chakra perception could no longer sense it.

"Infinite Void."

The words slipped from Yusuke's lips like a whisper.

In an instant, the world around them disappeared—swallowed by endless darkness that stretched beyond imagination, like the silent depths of outer space.

For 0.2 seconds, an incomprehensible flood of information slammed into Toneri's mind. His Tenseigan eyes glowed wildly, but even their divine perception couldn't process what he was seeing. His consciousness froze.

The technique was an illusion—one Yusuke had developed using the Infinite Tsukuyomi as reference, a Genjutsu that replayed every fragment of Toneri's life: his past, his present, and every possible future.

In just 0.2 seconds, infinite layers of memory and possibility were forced into his mind.

Without tremendous mental fortitude, anyone else would've suffered permanent brain damage—or worse, be lost forever inside the illusion's eternal cycle.

There was no counter to this technique. Within the confines of Yusuke's Domain, every attack—physical, mental, or spiritual—would strike with absolute certainty.

"…Perhaps I went too far," Yusuke murmured, sounding almost regretful.

He approached Toneri, whose body stood motionless, eyes closed tight. With a sigh, Yusuke touched his student's forehead and opened his own eyes again—this time releasing a burst of terrifying ocular power that shattered the illusion from within.

Toneri gasped. His once-empty gaze slowly regained focus, his breath ragged and uneven as sweat drenched his body.

"Sensei… what was that?" Toneri asked, his voice trembling. "Even my Tenseigan couldn't resist it…"

"Of course not," Yusuke said casually. "Every attack within my Domain is a guaranteed hit. Though, if your mental strength is high enough, you can resist its effects. Unfortunately for you… you couldn't even last 0.2 seconds."

He waved his hand lightly, and the infinite darkness around them vanished, returning them to the moon's desolate landscape.

"I see…" Toneri said between heavy breaths. "Then, Sensei… how long can you maintain that technique?"

Yusuke placed a hand on his chin thoughtfully. "Currently? Around ten minutes, give or take. But even if ten minutes isn't enough, I can just re-cast it for another ten. The chakra cost isn't that bad."

Toneri froze. His mouth twitched.

Even five seconds of such a power would be absurdly overpowered—and his master could maintain it for ten minutes, repeatedly?

It was every bit as unfair as his Infinity ability.

In other words… truly invincible.

"Sensei… could I learn it too?" Toneri asked, his voice filled with desperate hope.

"Obviously not," Yusuke said bluntly, his tone final.

"This technique is tied to my dōjutsu. Your Tenseigan lacks the necessary Genjutsu capabilities. Beyond that, your chakra control and ocular power aren't even close to what's needed to form a Domain. To do that, you'd need power on the level of 'Infinity'—and you're still far from it. You're missing a few… very important things."

The truth was, Yusuke had no problem teaching the concept. But in reality, no shinobi alive possessed the sheer chakra reserves to sustain it.

Unlike Cursed Energy, this Domain was powered purely by chakra. And while the two energies might be theoretically balanced (a one-to-one ratio), in practice, forming a Domain with chakra required over twenty times the output of Cursed Energy.

"Enough daydreaming, kid. Your mental strength's still too soft," Yusuke said with a lazy grin. "Besides, the best ninjutsu is the one you develop yourself. But… well, if you want to imitate a little, I won't stop you."

Toneri smiled wryly. "Understood, Sensei. But I have another question—about Yin–Yang Release. My Truth-Seeking Orb feels… different from what's described in the records of the predecessors."

"Ah, that," Yusuke said, scratching the back of his head. "Even though you possess the Tenseigan and have balanced your elemental affinities, you still haven't achieved full integration. A true Truth-Seeking Orb isn't just based on Yin–Yang Release. Its true essence lies in the fusion of all five basic elements."

He folded his arms, his tone turning instructive.

"To create genuine Truth-Seeking Orbs, you need to reach the Six Paths Mode. And to perfectly harmonize with that state, you must first master Sage Mode."

"Then… does that mean my next step is to learn Sage Mode?" Toneri asked seriously.

"Exactly," Yusuke replied. "That's why I want you and Naruto to train together at Mount Myōboku. In the future, relying on the Tenseigan alone won't be enough."

"I see… But, Sensei," Toneri said hesitantly, "Uncle Kakashi mentioned that you've mastered three different Sage Modes already. Why not teach me directly?"

Yusuke gave him a flat look. "Two reasons. First—it's a hassle. Second—I don't have the proper training tools here."

He could, of course, teach the principles of Sage Mode. But the technique itself required one's own instinct, sensitivity, and affinity to natural energy. Each person's connection to nature was unique, and each sacred ground—the Toads' Mount Myōboku, the Slugs' Shikkotsu Forest, and the Snakes' Ryūchi Cave—had distinct types of energy concentration.

"Then, which one should I learn from, Sensei?" Toneri asked earnestly.

"The answer's obvious," Yusuke said firmly. "Mount Myōboku."

"The Sage techniques of Myōboku grant the greatest enhancement to Ninjutsu," he explained. "That will help you refine your Truth-Seeking Orbs' structure and control."

"What about the Shikkotsu Forest?" Toneri asked. He had already signed a contract with the Slug Sage, after all.

"That's possible too," Yusuke admitted. "But it won't benefit your current growth much. You already possess both the body and eyes of a Sage. If you train under Shikkotsu, it'll only amplify your chakra reserves—but it'll also throw off your Yin–Yang balance. Eventually, you might not even be able to form fake Truth-Seeking Orbs."

In truth, Toneri's unique physiology made him unsuited for the extremes of Yin or Yang energy.

The Shikkotsu Forest embodied Yin, while Ryūchi Cave embodied Yang.

Only Mount Myōboku—the middle path—could grant him harmony.

"I understand, Sensei," Toneri said finally, nodding. His expression had softened with newfound clarity.

It seemed there was only one road forward for him now: to journey to Mount Myōboku and learn the art of the Sage.

And somewhere behind his calm smile, Hatake Yusuke watched him quietly, the faintest glimmer of pride flashing in his eyes.
