From the dark, a man in a blue tunic and brown pants emerged. Around his waist was a huge leather belt that held his outfit together. His muscular stature made his clothes fit him like a glove. Around his wrist and neck were silver ornaments.
In each arm, he held a chakram blade. Lava ran to him, and he dropped his circular swords and wrapped his hands around her.
Rye cleared his throat to get their attention.
"Sorry, this is Rye. Rye umm..," Lava said.
"Kappa, I am Rye Kappa," he said and walked over to them.
"And Rye this is Yuno," Lava added.
Yuno nodded and glared at Lava.
"He is here to find out who is behind the murders," Lava explained.
Yuno pulled Lava aside.
"Are you sure a stranger walking around now is the best thing? The whole floor is on edge," Yuno whispered to Lava.
"Anyone on the floor can be the killer, he is our safest bet," Lava explained and Yuno let out a loud sigh.
"So are we doing this or not?"
Rye asked and Yuno walked up to him.
"Follow me," he said to Rye. He looked at Lava who nodded at him.
As they walked Rye heard murmurs from a distance.
He followed Yuno down the dark hallway to what looked like an enclosed market. There were stalls all around and monsters of all kinds were bought and sold.
The place smelled of raw meat flies were everywhere.
"This is where she was found. Melani Graves an elder orc who sold meat at the market," Yuno explained.
Rye stared at the crowd who stared back at him.
'They are acting like humans, buying and selling. I expected chaos, kill or be killed,' Rye thought.
With his mind elsewhere he missed most of what Yuno said.
"Human!" a voice echoed catching Rye's attention. He turned to see a demihuman of the rhinoceros breed.
He walked up to him, darkening his view.
"I see you made it to my floor but this is where your journey ends," the demihuman said.
Rye looked at Yuno, hoping he would step in. Just as he turned he felt a weight on the side of his face.
A punch made him bite his tongue. Rye spat out blood. The rhinoceros man swung at him again.
This time he blocked but it made no difference. The force of the swing made him hit himself. He stumbled into a crowd that shoved him back at the rhinoceros man.
"You come here and kill our kind. What gives you the right?"
The rhinoceros man grabbed him by the shirt as he asked.
"And you call us monsters," he added.
The crowd cheered, spat, and threw stuff at him.
"Please," Rye begged.
The rhinoceros man chuckled, "You call us monsters but all you do is take. Teeth, skin, blood, and anything you deem valuable,"
The demihuman lamented.
Rye coughed and a tooth flew out of his mouth.
He swung at the Demi-human and landed a punch on the face. The rhinoceros man growled. He grabbed Rye by the neck and slammed him on the ground.
A sickening crack rang out.
'If this auto regeneration doesn't kick in, I will be dead before I have a chance to fight back,' he thought as he lay on the ground.
The rhinoceros man placed his foot on his chest. Air burst out of his mouth. Immediately, Rye started wheezing.
