Erian had been leaning over the kitchen table for quite some time, mixing herbs in a bowl. He had spent days mulling over the same idea: if he could cook something so delicious that its aroma filled the entire temple, maybe the high priest would finally come out of seclusion.
If that happened, Lenna could finally speak with him and get the permission she so desperately needed to leave the temple.
Erian rested his elbows on the table and stared at the dough. He was thinking of possible flavor combinations for the bread, honey and almond, or ginger and butter, when a sound behind him startled him.
"Erian?" Tessa's voice pulled him out of his thoughts.
Erian turned sharply.
"Oh, Tessa… I didn't hear you come in."
"I noticed," she replied with a faint smile. "Have you seen Korveth?"
Erian shook his head.
"No, why?"
Tessa let out a long, heavy sigh.
