Before Erian could say anything, Lenna turned and ran. Her hair flared behind her like a blaze as she disappeared through the corridors.
Startled, Erian followed, struggling to keep up as the echo of her footsteps faded down the corridor. He caught up just as she entered a room.
When Erian crossed the threshold, he realized it had to be Lenna's chamber The air carried a faint scent of dried flowers and ink. Some drawings hung on the walls, delicate sketches of landscapes and creatures.
Lenna tore one of the drawings from the wall with a violent yank, the paper ripping in her hands. She tore it again and again, so furiously that the shreds stuck to her sweaty fingers. Her breathing turned ragged, almost like a growl.
"Liar… liar… liar…" she muttered through clenched teeth.
Erian approached carefully, unsure whether to stop her or let her vent, but when he saw the paper's edge cutting tiny wounds into her fingers, he wrapped his arms around her from behind and restrained her.
