Chapter 120 - My God, Iron Man Isn’t Even His Father’s Real Son!

After all, when people suddenly gain enormous power or wealth, it's easy for them to lose control — to become unworthy of what they possess.

One day you're Superman… the next, you're Homelander.

One day you're a good man… the next, you're saying, "I don't eat beef."

If Lin Feng ever started "not eating beef," who in this world could stop him?

So the fact that Lin Feng was still following the rules, running his businesses, and making money like a normal person — that was already a huge blessing. It proved that while his strength was inhuman, he still behaved like a human in life.

That was why Tony Stark wasn't particularly concerned when Lin Feng said he wanted a slice of the clean energy market. What really caught his attention was Anton Vanko — as Lin Feng put it, "not an easy man to deal with."

And not just because of his troublesome personality — the man actually possessed some mysteriously advanced technology.

That description perfectly matched the stereotypical American image of Russians — shaped by decades of Hollywood movies.

Since the Soviet Union had collapsed long ago and couldn't defend its image, Americans could say whatever they wanted.

And in those films, Russians were always portrayed as brutish geniuses — rough, blunt, but somehow in possession of dangerous world-threatening tech — and of course, the Americans would swoop in at the end to save the world.

As for Justin Hammer, Tony knew him well. They were technically in the same circle — second-generation billionaires.

But the difference between them was enormous.

Justin Hammer was the kind of mass-produced "elite" created by rich families through formulaic education and grooming. Tony Stark, on the other hand, was a true genius.

Yet Hammer always tried to latch onto him, desperately pretending that they were equals — two "twin stars" of the new generation.

In reality, his actual skill set was nowhere near Tony's. Just being compared side by side with him made Tony feel insulted.

So when Tony pieced things together, it was clear — Ivan Vanko's attack on him must have drawn Hammer's attention.

And since Vanko could apparently build a miniature Arc Reactor, he was exactly the kind of talent Hammer would want to exploit.

But obviously, Vanko wasn't someone easy to control. He'd likely used Hammer's resources to take revenge on Tony — only to fail in the end.

And what was the cause of that failure? "Plot armor"?

Lin Feng had mentioned that term more than once, but Tony didn't believe in "main character halos." He believed in hard work — everything he achieved was earned.

Meaning, in Lin Feng's old diary entries, this Ivan Vanko would qualify as a supervillain.

Of course, now that very supervillain was working under Lin Feng.

Tony was shocked to see how quickly Lin Feng was adapting to his role as a capitalist — for a capitalist, there's no one you can't exploit.

[Excerpt from Lin Feng's Diary]

Didn't expect Gwen to apply for a job at my company. As expected of the people's sweetheart — this world's Gwen is even more beautiful than any other version, and she's a total prodigy.

I went to check on Peter Parker earlier. Nothing special about him yet — just an ordinary kid. Could it be he hasn't met "the one with three moles" yet?

From a worldbuilding perspective, every Spider-Man's emergence isn't random. Each is chosen by the Spider-Totem. But can there only be one Spider-Man per universe?

And if this world merges the Spider-Verse timelines, then by now we should've seen characters like Madam Web, Spider-Woman, Spider-Girl — maybe even three generations of them.

If that's true, then Gwen becoming Spider-Woman makes perfect sense.

But if these spider-powered characters are showing up before the main hero Peter Parker even matures, then the timeline's a mess. Then again… everything's already a mess anyway.

And if this world truly follows that pattern, Peter Parker's family backstory might have to be rewritten — his mother's death, young Ben Parker, maybe even more. Could it be this universe really is that one?

If these Spider-related beings exist here, then the Morlun family — the predators who devour Spider-Totems to grow stronger — must exist too. If that's the case, Gwen's in real danger. The only way she'll survive is by gathering an army of Spider-Men to fight back. Now that would be something to see.

If Fury finds out about this, he'll lose his mind. This universe is already chaotic — timelines, people, everything's mismatched and unstable. Way more dangerous than anyone realizes!

But then again, the Marvel Multiverse has always been messy. In some universes, Loki's the Sorcerer Supreme. In others, Tony Stark is. And in one universe… Tony Stark isn't even Howard Stark's biological son — just his adopted heir. Too much chaos to even begin sorting out.

Gwen's eyes widened as she read Lin Feng's notes — her expression shifting from smugness to shock.

At first, she'd been pleased by his compliments about her beauty — after all, she was a sixteen-year-old girl. It's only natural to enjoy being admired. All that "beautiful but unaware" stuff? That only happens if you're blind.

But then she reached the part that shook her to her core.

Every Spider-Man's appearance wasn't random — each was chosen by the Spider-Totem.

In other words, her becoming Spider-Woman wasn't an accident. It was destiny.

She wasn't an accident — she was chosen.

But what exactly was the Spider-Totem?

She didn't know — maybe a kind of world will, or divine force. But one thing was clear: her power came from something beyond human comprehension.

And that realization changed everything.

She'd known there were other Spider-Women, but she hadn't imagined there were so many.

Madam Web, Spider-Woman, Spider-Girl — three generations of them. Add herself, and that made at least five female Spider-heroes.

So, in Lin Feng's eyes, she was just another "Spider-type character"?

And the true, eternal male protagonist — maybe even the Marvel universe's eternal leading man — was that boy named Peter Parker.

What unsettled her most, though, was the mention of the Morlun family — beings who could devour the Spider-Totems themselves.

If that was true, then she and every Spider-person were walking buffets for cosmic predators.

No wonder Lin Feng said she'd have to rally all the Spider-People to fight back.

But how could she? She didn't even know how to contact these other Spider-Women, let alone cross universes!

A sense of urgency filled her chest.

Before, villains like Thanos or Dormammu had been terrifying — but those were threats for the Avengers or Doctor Strange.

This one, though… this one was coming for her.

And that made all the difference.

For the first time, Gwen felt true fear — and insomnia soon followed.

Meanwhile, Nick Fury was having his own crisis.

He ignored Lin Feng's jab calling him "egghead" and focused on the details instead — timelines, characters… nothing lined up.

If even Lin Feng — a man practically beyond human — thought this universe was dangerous, then it had to be catastrophic.

And if this so-called Spider-Verse really existed, then multiple Spider-People had been operating for years… without S.H.I.E.L.D. ever knowing?

That wasn't just incompetence. That was dereliction of duty.

And worst of all — how the hell was he supposed to deal with any of this?

But the one most shaken of all was Tony Stark.

He didn't even flinch hearing that, in other universes, he'd been a Sorcerer Supreme — he already knew that.

What broke him was discovering that, in one timeline…

he wasn't even Howard Stark's biological son.

"Are you kidding me?!"

Talk about a thunderbolt from a clear sky.
