Yes, it was true — Tony Stark never had a great relationship with his father, Howard Stark. They argued constantly, and by the time of Howard's accident, things had gotten so bad that Tony had been sent off to boarding school just to keep the peace.
But no matter what, there was one thing Tony could never accept — the idea that he wasn't his father's biological son. That was an insult he couldn't tolerate.
If it weren't for the fact that the diary's author was Lin Feng, and that it referred to another universe, Tony would probably have exploded on the spot.
Even so, his expression was extremely dark.
"Just how many branches are there in this Marvel multiverse? How did things get so chaotic?"— Natasha Romanoff muttered in disbelief.
Everyone nodded in agreement. By now, they had learned that the universe they lived in was called the Marvel Multiverse in Lin Feng's diary. They didn't know why it was called that, but they understood one thing — it was vast.
Not just physically vast, but also infinitely layered, filled with countless parallel universes.
So many, in fact, that even Lin Feng couldn't keep track of them all. That only confirmed what they'd suspected — that in Lin Feng's original world, he was merely an ordinary person who could somehow observe all these realities. That was terrifying.
How advanced must that civilization be? How high-dimensional must his universe's perspective reach?
Even if Lin Feng himself looked weak and unassuming, technological civilizations didn't depend on individual strength. Humanity today, after all, was far more advanced than it had been centuries ago — yet physically, humans hadn't changed at all.
So Lin Feng's weakness didn't make them look down on his world; instead, it made them revere it all the more.
[Diary Entry]"To be fair, Ivan Vanko did have potential. But the guy was too reckless. Sure, he almost flipped Tony Stark's car, but in the end, he was still one move short of victory. Doesn't he understand the value of plot armor? (tactical lean-back)"
"Anyway, he's working for me now — no more chances to cause trouble. I even helped Tony by cleaning up one of his future headaches. No need to thank me! But if you must, call me Homelander! 😂"
A video appeared right after that entry. Everyone leaned in and pressed play.
The footage began with a TV broadcast — Tony Stark's iconic press conference from the end of Iron Man 1.
"I know it's confusing. Questioning the official story is one thing, but calling me a superhero is something else entirely. Honestly, I'm not the hero type. I've got a lot of character flaws… I've made plenty of mistakes in public… But the truth is — I am Iron Man."
In a shabby apartment on the outskirts of Moscow, Anton Vanko, old and frail, glared at the screen.
"Tony… your big moment," Natasha teased, grinning.
Lin Feng had referred to this as one of Tony's "signature life scenes."
Tony just shrugged, saying nothing — his eyes stayed fixed on the screen.
"Ivan, Ivan… come here."
The aging Anton called out weakly.
His son, Ivan Vanko, a tall, muscular man, came to his side.
"That… that should've been yours," Anton rasped.
"Don't listen to them, Father," Ivan said quietly.
"I'm sorry… all I can leave you is my knowledge…"
With those last words, Anton Vanko died in the freezing Moscow night.
Ivan sat beside him, drinking vodka through tears, finally letting out a furious roar into the darkness.
The scene shifted. Ivan unfurled an old blueprint — the joint design for the Arc Reactor, created long ago by Howard Stark and Anton Vanko.
He began to forge one himself — hammering piece by piece by hand.
The walls around him were plastered with Tony Stark's posters and magazine covers.
Tony, watching the footage, immediately recognized what Ivan was building.
"That's… that's an Arc Reactor!"
Crude as it was, it was functionally identical to his own — hand-built, but brilliant.
The man's identity was obvious now: Ivan Vanko, son of Anton Vanko — the same Anton whom Howard Stark had expelled from the U.S. decades ago.
The story was clear — a tale of vengeance.
No wonder Lin Feng said he'd "taken care of one of Tony's future problems." A man this intelligent, obsessed with revenge, could indeed be dangerous.
Even from the brief clip, Tony could tell: Ivan wasn't just smart — he was genius-level smart.
Anyone capable of building a working Arc Reactor from scratch wasn't some random madman.
After all, Howard and Anton's original blueprint was only a half-finished concept. Completing it required an almost inhuman level of insight.
Tony's own father, a certified genius, hadn't managed it. Yet Ivan had.
That alone placed him among the most brilliant minds on Earth.
The footage cut to Monte Carlo, at a Formula 1 race.
Like many thrill-seeking billionaires, Tony was there to race — not for fame, but for pure adrenaline.
And, knowing his time might be short, he was living even more recklessly than usual.
As Tony raced, Ivan appeared on the track. His homemade Arc Reactor powered two electrified whips that sliced clean through a speeding car — instantly vaporizing it.
"He's not here to play," someone murmured.
And indeed, Ivan's weaponry was terrifying.
"Why didn't he just build a full suit of armor?" Tony muttered.
Then it hit him.
"Oh… right. He's broke."
From the looks of that slum in Moscow, Ivan's family hadn't exactly prospered after being exiled.
No money. No resources. Just rage.
"No wonder he hates me," Tony sighed. "That's class resentment and personal revenge all rolled into one."
Meanwhile, Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan noticed the chaos on the track and rushed in to help, driving straight into the racing lane against traffic.
Moments later, Ivan's whips tore Tony's race car clean in half, sending it spinning through the air.
The scene was pure chaos — cars crashing, flames bursting, debris flying everywhere.
Without his armor, Tony was just a man — dodging desperately, barely staying alive.
Watching it, the real Tony grimaced.
"Seriously? Again? Every time I show up, I'm getting tossed around like a rag doll."
First Obadiah Stane had pummeled him in the Iron Monger suit.
Now Ivan Vanko was doing the same with electric whips.
"Do I ever get to look cool in these videos?" Tony groaned.
Back in the footage, Pepper and Happy rammed Ivan into a wall, buying Tony a brief reprieve.
They argued, panicking — until Ivan rose from the wreckage again, whips crackling.
Another car split clean in two.
At the last second, Tony managed to activate his suitcase armor, transforming on the spot — only to get thrashed again by Ivan.
Tony, watching himself get whipped around, looked like he'd swallowed a lemon.
Finally, with the armor's superior defense, he closed in and ripped out Ivan's Arc Reactor, ending the fight.
"You lose… you lose, Stark…" Ivan coughed, laughing through blood as security dragged him away.
Tony crushed the reactor in his hand, scowling.
"Tony, you actually developed a suitcase version of the Mark armor? That's impressive!"— Nick Fury couldn't help but praise.
It really was an incredible invention — portable, practical, and revolutionary.
Tony said nothing. He just looked like a man remembering a very painful experience.
Because, in his own timeline, he had already built that version — and had indeed been beaten half to death in it.
