Chapter 254 - The Absolute Time Point, Unchangeable

Especially for a science-minded genius like Tony Stark, with his understanding, he naturally knew that time couldn't be violated. Once someone went back to the past, the past would become the future, and the future would become the past – it was a reversed process.

If you altered history at a certain moment, the historical trajectory would change, and you wouldn't be able to travel back to the past to modify history.

That's why there are paradoxes like the grandfather paradox. In short, that's the general idea.

Based on this, the concept of parallel timelines could explain a lot of things. Especially after Tony Stark learned about parallel timelines, he became even more convinced of this.

When you go back to the past and modify it, that's not the past of your own timeline. It can only create a new timeline, but it doesn't help in modifying your own timeline.

Because anything that happened in your timeline is already predetermined.

Because of these predetermined events, the current you was created, the you who now wants to change time and space.

However, he didn't know what the Absolute Time Point actually meant.

"This Absolute Time Point, is it what's also called 'fate'?" Bruce Banner asked. "If there's an Absolute Time Point, then there should also be non-absolute time points, right? For example, where Christine dies, and how she dies, might not be fixed.

But the Absolute Time Point could be something that has a decisive influence on your ability to travel back in time and change the past. For instance, because of Christine's death, he embarked on the path to seek magic, then he obtained the position of Sorcerer Supreme, and got the Time Stone, which is how he could return to the present.

If Christine's death is changed at the beginning, then everything that happens afterward won't exist!"

With Bruce Banner's explanation, everyone seemed to start understanding what the so-called Absolute Time Point meant.

Similar to this, the death of the Ancient One might also be key to what happens later. If it's altered, it could form a completely new Timeline, but it wouldn't be of any use in changing the current Timeline.

"But, if this Absolute Time Point is changed, doesn't that mean, as Lin Feng said, the entire Timeline will be finished?" Hawkeye Barton said.

At this moment, he also realized how terrifying it would be if this Timeline were changed.

"It's very possible. It violates basic physical laws. We don't know how the magic side does it, but since they've achieved this, it's very likely to become what Lin Feng described: a collapse of the Timeline!" Bruce Banner said.

"But if this Absolute Time Point really exists, why can I bypass it? I didn't even go to Afghanistan!" Tony Stark said. "Yet, I'm still building the Mark Armor and became Iron Man!"

"Could it be that your abilities come from within you? Even without the kidnapping in Afghanistan, you could still build the armor, so the Absolute Time Point doesn't apply to you?" Black Widow Natasha said.

"Possibly. But I think the more important thing is, the Absolute Time Point can't be changed from the future, but it doesn't say it can't be changed from the past. Lin Feng isn't coming back from the future to change the past. He's from another universe. So, any changes resulting from his influence on you can't be considered as changing the past. It's just that a new Timeline is born based on the Sacred Timeline!" Bruce Banner shook his head and said.

Everyone thought about it, and this explanation seemed more reliable.

"This also explains why the Ancient One died so abruptly. Because she had to die at that time. Whether she died after a desperate battle, or whether she died casually, it doesn't matter much in essence. The convergence of the Timeline converges on that point, and that point is the death of the Ancient One!" Nick Fury understood a bit, then said. "So, the Absolute Time Point in this video is Christine's death, but how she died doesn't matter. It doesn't affect the direction of things later on. So, she could have been hit by a car, poisoned, or shot. The focus is on her death, and the method of death is irrelevant!"

"That's why we saw the Ancient One being killed so easily. Someone who can see the future, couldn't she see the crisis of that day? No, she should be able to see it. If I'm not mistaken, she probably tried all sorts of methods, but in the end, she found they were useless, so she just died quickly. That's why Lin Feng joked that she died because the special effects cost too much!" Nick Fury immediately said. "So, this explains a lot of problems. This is also the best explanation we have so far!"

Stephen Strange was also deep in thought. He currently knew almost nothing about the magic side, basically only what he had learned from Lin Feng's videos.

According to the Ancient One, he could come back here because he possessed the Time Stone. And he possessed the Time Stone because he became a magician, even the Sorcerer Supreme, the most powerful among the magicians. And he became a magician because Christine died.

If Christine hadn't died, he wouldn't have embarked on his magical journey. If he hadn't embarked on his magical journey, he wouldn't have become a Sorcerer, nor would he have mastered the Time Stone. Then, he wouldn't have used the Time Stone to return to this point in time. This was a fundamental problem. His attempt to change this was undermining the very foundation of his existence!

Wasn't this a dead end? For a moment, he felt like his brain was about to explode; it wasn't enough.

If he couldn't become a mage, he couldn't do all this. It seemed like the only option was to kill another version of himself and then steal someone else's Christine?

Doctor Strange, Stephen Strange, his mind opened up with a creative thought.

But he immediately thought of another point, but then it wouldn't be his Christine. Although she looked the same, and her thoughts and memories were the same, that wouldn't be his Christine.

At this moment, Odin and Thor, father and son, in Asgard, were also dumbfounded.

"So, what is this Absolute Time Point?" Thor asked.

"It's something that is bound to happen, must happen. If it doesn't happen, it could lead to chaos in space-time, or even the collapse of time!" Odin said. "I once occasionally heard the Ancient One mention this. What do you think of the Timeline?"

"The Timeline is like an ever-expanding river of time, with every event constantly unfolding, ultimately shaping the entire Timeline!" Thor said.

"You're right, but not entirely," Odin shook his head. "The Timeline is indeed formed by the choices of every individual, culminating in a complete Timeline, from the origin of the universe to its destruction. However, the difference from what you imagine is that, viewed from a higher dimension, the beginning and the end have already occurred simultaneously. In other words, the entire Timeline has already happened, not something that hasn't happened yet, but something that has already happened!"

"That's why there's the concept of the Absolute Time Point. There's really no uncontrollable future. Every future is already fixed. This is also why I on the Sacred Timeline couldn't save Asgard because Asgard's destruction has already happened; it's just that we haven't been able to perceive it. But if viewed from a higher dimension, you can see it. Asgard has been destroyed, and even the entire universe is already in a state of destruction!"

Odin explained, "So we are at the upstream of the Timeline and cannot see the downstream state. But if you look upstream of the Timeline, for example, for people in the Middle Ages, the era we are in is the uncertain future in their minds. But for us, the era they are in is history that has already happened, they just don't know it yet!"

"I think I understand a little, but it's still too complicated!"

Thor only felt a headache. He felt that the old days were good; he didn't need to think so much, just drink, fight, drink, fight, and everything could be solved.

He should still focus on training. In the future, smashing problems with a hammer would be the best choice.

Just as everyone was bewildered by the concept of the Absolute Time Point, the plot in the scene continued to unfold.

Facing her disciple's plea, the Ancient One simply said with a calm expression, "Unchangeable, irremovable. Without her death, you would not be able to defeat Dormammu, nor become the Sorcerer Supreme."

She glanced at Doctor Strange, then continued, "Become the Sorcerer Supreme, become the guardian of the Eye of Agamotto. If you erase her death, you will never be able to start your journey!"

Hearing this, Doctor Strange was completely enraged. For him, saving Christine time and again had exhausted him. He just wanted to live a good life with the woman he loved. Couldn't he even achieve such a simple thing? To hell with time paradoxes, to hell with the Absolute Time Point, to hell with the Sorcerer Supreme, to hell with Dormammu.

He didn't care about the reasons, no matter how absurd they were. He only wanted his girlfriend to live, it was that simple.
