Chapter 313 - The Battle of New York Ends, Shaking the World

"Let's do it," Ant-Man Scott said. "This is our only chance to travel through time. We don't have any more Pym Particles, so we have to succeed this time!"

"Alright," Tony Stark agreed. "Banner, you should head back first and take the Time Stone with you. We're going to the base in New Jersey next, and with your massive size, you'd be too much of a target. It's not suitable for you."

"Understood!" Dr. Bruce Banner nodded. Holding the Time Stone, he immediately returned.

From the perspective of time travel, it didn't matter when they left; they would all arrive at the same time.

"Scott, we'll need to retrieve the Cosmic Cube and the Mind Scepter. We might need your abilities for that," Tony Stark said. "So, we need you to come with us. But if we fail, you might have to survive on your own until our era."

"What's there to fear?" Ant-Man Scott grinned. "Pym will still be around in that era. As long as he's there, we'll figure out a way to steal it. We'll get back eventually!"

Ant-Man Scott had already figured it out: as long as Hank Pym from that era was still around, he was bound to develop the Pym Particle sooner or later. It might take a little longer, but they wouldn't be permanently stuck in the past.

To save his family, there was nothing he wouldn't do.

Seeing that Ant-Man had no objections, Tony Stark said, "Confirming it's safe, let's set the time and go!"

After synchronizing their watches, the group vanished from the spot.

On the chaotic streets of New York City, no one would ever notice that a group of people from the future had appeared.

No one knew, and no one cared. The world was still reeling from the shock, and the explosive impact of the alien invasion was only just beginning to ripple through society.

In fact, overnight, the Avengers became household names worldwide.

Not that they hadn't been famous before, but their fame had been based on individual heroics. Tony Stark, the world's richest playboy and super-scientist, was the most famous, gracing magazine covers and weekly publications.

Captain America Rogers was the only other Avenger with global recognition, largely due to decades of relentless government propaganda.

Even Thor, the God of Thunder, was relatively well-known in the West, especially in Nordic regions where he had countless devoted followers. However, his influence rapidly diminished outside Western civilization.

After all, Norse mythology and Asgard were ancient tales. Even their homeland, the Nordic region, had been conquered by monotheistic religions.

The other heroes were mostly niche figures.

As numerous combat videos uploaded by onlookers flooded the internet, the Avengers' fame exploded. Not only the heroes themselves, but the Avengers organization they belonged to also became widely known.

The sheer volume of videos overwhelmed government efforts to control them. Eventually, they gave up, resigning themselves to the situation.

*Since we can't control it anyway, let it be. Let them be exposed to everyone.*

The most prominent heroes became like superstars. Even less-known figures like Black Widow Natasha and Hawkeye Barton gained significant popularity, though S.H.I.E.L.D. kept their names out of the public eye for their protection.

Homelander, who single-handedly crushed the Chitauri homeland, was almost worshipped as a god on Earth.

In a single night, thousands of Homelander fan clubs sprang up, operating as if they were managing a celebrity fandom.

It wasn't just fan clubs, either. Within hours, at least a hundred cults from around the world declared Homelander their deity.

They claimed he had come to save the ignorant masses from the apocalypse, rescuing humanity from the brink of destruction.

Even before, countless people had worshipped gods who performed no miracles. How much more so for a mortal who had demonstrated such divine power? In an instant, his followers surged past ten million.

Those so-called gods were nothing but illusions, but Homelander was real, nearly omnipotent, and far more powerful than the genuine Norse God of Thunder, Thor.

Lin Feng had undoubtedly harvested a massive wave of traffic, incense offerings, and faith power with this stunt.

If Lin Feng were just a normal person, he might have gained some worship. But now, possessing the true Divine Authority of the God of War, all this adoration and faith—regardless of how many were merely trying to fish in troubled waters—would directly empower him.

The path to godhood through faith is indeed an excellent one, but it comes with a crucial caveat: Lin Feng would also be influenced by his followers. Just as gods can influence their believers, believers can, in turn, influence their gods.

If Lin Feng had used this surge of faith to advance to the Heavenly Father-level, he would have been completely bound to his followers. Since he was certain to reach that level eventually anyway, there was no need to rush.

Alternatively, this could be seen as a safety net for Lin Feng. If his own breakthrough proved too difficult, he might eventually resort to this path.

Yet, in Lin Feng's view, relying on the power of his followers was ultimately not the true way.

Meanwhile, the Avengers, previously almost unknown to the world, had, after this battle, officially entered the global spotlight, becoming superstars in the eyes of millions.

Each member received unprecedented attention.

For the leaders of various nations, such a powerful team was an undeniable target for competition.

If not for the Avengers' affiliation with S.H.I.E.L.D., and S.H.I.E.L.D.'s allegiance to the Five Great Powers, someone would likely have already made a move against the Avengers.

For ordinary super-spies like Hawkeye Barton and Black Widow Natasha, invitations from various factions came pouring in like snowflakes, causing them no end of trouble.

But for everyone, this was just the beginning. Although the scope of the battle had been contained, the scale of destruction remained vast, and the process of post-disaster reconstruction was just beginning.

Of course, given America's abysmal bureaucratic efficiency, no one knew when the reconstruction would actually be completed.

But ordinary people weren't in a hurry; they were used to it. It would be strange if the government *weren't* like this.

For Nick Fury, however, the past month had been a headache of epic proportions.

The Avengers had been formed with the original purpose of handling extraordinary threats and deterring other species, including aliens.

*We may not be able to match you in power, but we have the capacity for vengeance.*

But to everyone's surprise, instead of deterring aliens, they had ended up intimidating their own people.

Alexander Pierce had also begun making moves, stirring up trouble for Fury within the Council.

It remained unclear whether the Council had been swayed by Pierce's rumors and genuinely felt threatened by the Avengers, or if they had simply been intrigued by such a powerful force.

The Council was eager to bring the Avengers under their control, but only Nick Fury truly understood how difficult these heroes were to manage.

Aside from Black Widow, Hawkeye, and even Captain America Rogers, who were relatively easy to handle because they were already affiliated with S.H.I.E.L.D., how could they possibly control the others?

Thor, the God of Thunder? He was the prince of an alien pantheon. You were mere representatives of the Council. Even your president treated him as an honored guest. You thought you could take him down?

*What were you thinking?*

*Anything is possible in dreams.*

The same applied to Iron Man Tony Stark. With his power and status, he was treated as an honored guest by world leaders. You thought you, with your lower standing, could control him?

*Are you kidding me?*

The rest of them were no pushovers either. Even worse, some wanted to make a move on Homelander. Fury was almost speechless. They clearly didn't know about Lin Feng's track record. If they truly angered him, their ashes could be scattered by the wind.

Many forgot that they were merely representatives of their respective nations at this meeting, not the nations themselves. The Avengers, on the other hand, were individuals who embodied immense power. How could they possibly be the same?

Fortunately, Nick Fury wasn't without allies. The Council wasn't entirely composed of fools; many shrewd members understood the need for caution.

While many supported Nick Fury, the inevitable clash of wits and strategies continued.

The Council's open and covert struggle ended in a stalemate.

Nick Fury, as the current Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., wielded considerable power. Alexander Pierce, the former Director and current Secretary-General, was equally entrenched. Neither could gain the upper hand.

Indeed, the very purpose of the Secretary-General position was to create this balance. If the lower ranks worked in unison, the higher ranks would begin to feel uneasy.

Of course, Fury's greatest challenge came from certain idiotic Council members. Questions like "Can we capture Homelander?" or "Can we research Homelander and develop a serum?" and similar nonsense.

He wanted to give them all a good beating right there.

*Capture Homelander? Do these fools even know how to write the word "death"?*

He even feared Lin Feng might overhear these words. After all, Lin Feng had super vision and possibly super hearing—though he normally kept them suppressed to avoid information overload.

But what if he just happened to hear?

The thought gave him a headache. They were constantly teetering on the brink of self-destruction.
