Lin Feng had no weaknesses. Even the magical vulnerability he'd once mentioned in his diary had since been patched up.
Besides, even if such a weakness truly existed, what good would it do? His influence on the magical world was roughly equivalent to Zhang Zhixuan's influence on America. Don't know Zhang Zhixuan? He was my elementary school classmate.
Who has the ability to exploit such a vulnerability?
Moreover, in the real world, he was one of the wealthiest individuals on the planet, with unparalleled influence.
Like Tony Stark, he was a major figure in both the public and hidden worlds.
You people aren't even as influential as him. When you retire, you might end up groveling at his feet as lackeys. And now you think you can control him?
You're dreaming.
After a long day of meetings and backstabbing with representatives from various council nations, Lin Feng suddenly felt the warmth of the diary—it had updated.
He hurried toward his office.
"Wait a minute, Nick," Alexander Pierce suddenly called out from behind him, trying to stop him. "You can't keep acting so unilaterally. The Council will abandon you sooner or later."
"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it," Nick Fury replied, continuing his brisk walk toward his office without breaking stride.
Watching Nick Fury storm off, Alexander Pierce's face darkened with fury.
*Damn you, Nick Fury. You won't be so arrogant for much longer.*
Back in his office, Nick Fury immediately notified all the superheroes to log on for an emergency online meeting.
Moments later, they began to trickle in.
The major event of the Battle of New York is finally over. The battle came suddenly, but we handled it perfectly.
These past few years haven't been wasted after all. The Battle of New York didn't cause any catastrophic damage.
It's now clear the Ancient One was right. Even against a Celestial-tier opponent, I shouldn't be at a disadvantage. I sensed Thanos's presence when we destroyed the Chitauri mothership. It's a shame he didn't choose to fight. In that state, I might have killed him early, without needing Thor to show up.
Even if they eventually killed Thanos, what was the point? What problem did it solve?
Waiting for Captain Marvel to show up late, only to be utterly useless?
But I have to admit, when Tony Stark was at his lowest, Captain Marvel's sudden appearance was a welcome surprise. However, as a hero, she was a complete failure. She was just a bystander throughout the entire battle, completely wasting Nick Fury's high expectations for her. While her power was indeed Celestial-tier, her combat record was a joke—all flashy maneuvers but a dismal 0-5 score.
"He's really grown this much? Not quite Celestial-tier yet, but close. This speed is insane! I feel like he hasn't even done that much," Hawkeye Barton said in shock.
He was stunned. How many years had it been since Lin Feng arrived from another universe? And he'd already reached Celestial-tier?
Through Lin Feng's persistent explanations, everyone had come to understand just how terrifying Celestial-tier beings truly were.
Any one of them could rival an entire civilization.
Although Lin Feng hadn't yet reached Celestial-tier, he claimed he could hold his own against Thanos, and even kill him outright under certain circumstances. This was truly astonishing.
"So Thanos was secretly watching us back then?" Tony Stark asked, his expression troubled.
This scenario had been one of his concerns.
More precisely, he had been wondering if, since Thanos had sent Loki to attack Earth to seize the Cosmic Cube, he would have been monitoring the battle all along.
Lin Feng's words confirmed his suspicions: Thanos had indeed been watching.
While Lin Feng hadn't fully elaborated, the implications were clear enough for everyone to grasp.
The fact that Lin Feng had nearly engaged Thanos in a full-scale battle earlier sent a chill down everyone's spines.
"This Captain Marvel... is she the same Captain Marvel Carol you mentioned last time?" Black Widow Natasha asked, turning to Nick Fury.
Nick Fury felt a pang of awkwardness. While Lin Feng had confirmed Captain Marvel's strength as a Celestial-tier being, her record was... 0 wins, 5 losses.
This was hardly a flattering assessment, and he felt a sudden wave of embarrassment.
Yet he couldn't help but wonder: could Captain Marvel really be this unreliable?
He distinctly remembered her being quite dependable.
Captain Marvel was even designed to rival Superman, yet this is the result? It's truly disappointing. But after all is said and done, when Tony Stark was on the verge of death, Captain Marvel did provide crucial assistance. Without her, none of the subsequent events would have unfolded as they did.
"Rival Superman? The Superman I know?" Hawkeye Barton couldn't help but interject.
He vividly recalled Superman's overwhelming power. During the Justice League's battle with him, the entire team was utterly outmatched. If his girlfriend hadn't intervened, the Justice League would have been annihilated on the spot.
Diana felt this most keenly, as she was one of the Justice League members who had been utterly defeated by Superman. She had never imagined anyone could be so powerful; even her mental image of Father God Zeus paled in comparison.
Yet how could someone so strong have such a dismal track record?
Just then, everyone noticed the diary had updated with a new video and quickly watched it.
The video showed Hawkeye Barton and his family playing happily, with Hawkeye teaching his children archery.
The heartwarming scene brought smiles to everyone's faces.
But then, in an instant, all of Hawkeye Barton's loved ones turned to dust. Before he could comprehend what had happened, he was frantically calling out for his wife and children.
Everyone immediately remembered the previous video, where Thanos's snap had erased half of all life in the universe.
Hawkeye Barton hadn't participated in that battle; they had thought he had escaped the disaster. But now they were witnessing an even more devastating scene: a once blissful family reduced to ashes in an instant.
"Ah!" Hawkeye Barton let out a furious roar.
"Clint!" Black Widow Natasha patted his shoulder, trying to comfort him. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine!" Hawkeye Barton forced himself to calm down, but his fists were clenched so tightly they were white-knuckled, a clear sign of his seething rage.
To be honest, he hadn't participated in the Avengers' battle against Thanos in *Infinity War*. He knew why: it all traced back to the *Civil War*. He had chosen to side with Captain America Rogers, and when faced with the choice between his family's expectations and exile, he had chosen his family.
As a consequence, he had been confined to his farm.
Ant-Man Scott had faced a similar fate.
So, while he had been affected by the *Infinity War* battle, he hadn't felt its impact as deeply as the others.
That battle had seemed to have nothing to do with him.
But now he knew he had been dead wrong.
That battle had involved everyone, especially him. In one fell swoop, he had lost all his family. All of them.
Not just one or two, but all of them.
"Thanos!" Hawkeye Barton's fists clenched, his eyes burning crimson.
For the first time, he felt such bitter helplessness. Facing such a threat, he couldn't help at all.
"Clint, it hasn't happened yet. Stay calm," Black Widow Natasha said, trying to comfort him.
"Nat, you're right. I need to stay calm. I can't let this happen again," Hawkeye Barton nodded, but his mind was already racing with thoughts of undergoing some kind of enhancement.
Whether it was the Super Soldier Serum or the Extremis Virus, anything would be better than being a helpless ordinary man facing such a future.
The others were also in pain. Perhaps it was the first time they had witnessed firsthand how their teammate's entire family had vanished in The Snap. The feeling was unbearable.
A solitary spaceship drifted through the void of space. Inside, Tony Stark and Nebula sat opposite each other, playing a game.
"Are we on our way back?" Tony Stark realized. "After the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy fought Thanos and were wiped out by The Snap, it must be just the two of us left."
The others also remembered. They had seen it in Lin Feng's diary video: the battle that could have been won, but ended in failure due to Star-Lord's reckless actions.
Then Thanos killed Vision and obtained the final Infinity Stone. With a snap of his fingers, he wiped out half of all life in the universe. Everyone was gone, leaving only Tony Stark and Nebula.
But the game they were playing seemed childish, as if Tony Stark were teaching Nebula some children's games.
The scene shifted. Tony Stark picked up his helmet and prepared to record a video.
This further convinced everyone that Tony Stark and Nebula were heading back toward Earth, traveling from Titan.
But Tony Stark looked utterly exhausted, as if he were barely clinging to life.
In the vast emptiness of space, their ship seemed utterly helpless, even adrift without power.
Clearly, Tony Stark was in worse condition than Nebula.
Humans were never meant to survive in space. Prolonged exposure to the void had taken a severe toll on him. Nebula, being an alien and cybernetically enhanced, was far more resilient.
