Chapter 347 - Even Heroes Die from Talking Too Much

"Seriously, why are none of these big villains ever just... you know, doing something *normal*?" Hawkeye Barton couldn't help but complain as he watched. "Look, Thanos went dark to protect the cosmic balance. Wanda went dark to protect her kids. Those two Doctor Stranges went dark—one to save his universe from Thanos, and the other to get his loved one back.

Isn't there a single villain who just wants to do something straightforward, like, I don't know, conquer the world?

It makes *us* look like the villains here."

The others fell silent, their expressions turning awkward. He had a point.

With the villains' goals being so noble, didn't that make them the real bad guys?

Meanwhile, the Doctor Strange on screen was grappling with the truth of his death in the parallel universe. What he couldn't understand was why, if his death was so dishonorable, they had still erected a statue in his honor.

"What about the statue? You even built a statue!" Doctor Strange demanded.

"The world needs a hero. We made a difficult decision because we know Doctor Strange's abilities—perhaps the abilities of *every* Doctor Strange," Captain Carter said, her voice tinged with a hint of helplessness.

The world needed a hero.

But that didn't mean they would tolerate another Doctor Strange from a parallel dimension coming here to cause chaos. They knew all too well how dangerous these Doctor Stranges could be.

Without Doctor Strange in this world, they might face many dangers, but they would also have far fewer headaches.

Before they could dwell on it any longer, the alarms blared. Moments later, the projection screen showed Wanda tearing her way inside, a force of nature that would slaughter gods and Buddhas alike.

"Watch him. We'll vote when we get back!" Captain Carter commanded.

But she had no idea that this time, they would never return.

"Steve, if you manage to escape this room, you must guide America Chavez!" Professor X said to Doctor Strange, his tone unusually urgent after the other superheroes had departed.

"What are you saying?" Baron Mordo stared in shock at Professor X's words.

"Save the girl, then find the Book of Vishanti!" Professor X commanded.

"The Book of Vishanti is here?" Doctor Strange exclaimed in disbelief.

"Yes, you've established a relay point," Professor X replied calmly.

"Charles, we can't trust him!" Baron Mordo immediately stood up in protest.

"I believe we can. Someone may stray from the path for a time, but that doesn't mean they will be lost forever. Let's see what kind of Doctor Strange you are," Professor X countered.

He held a level of trust in Doctor Strange that others found incomprehensible. Across all the worlds and realms, there were countless Doctor Stranges—surely not all of them could be villains.

From the way this Doctor Strange had protected the young girl, America, he could already tell that this version of the Sorcerer Supreme was unlikely to turn evil.

Of course, the most crucial factor was his awareness of Wanda's terrifying power. Perhaps, without the Book of Vishanti, there was truly no hope of defeating her.

"Thank you!"

[Wanda's about to start a massacre. Who says only villains die from talking too much? The same goes for the heroes!]

Before the crowd could even process the bullet comment, the scene shifted to the laboratory.

"All guards, deploy!"

Christine, sensing the danger, ordered everyone to evacuate immediately. Staying behind would be useless.

As the last robot was thrown aside, a synthesized voice commanded, "Ultron orders you to stop!"

Outside the screen, the viewers watched in shock as Wanda entered, drenched in blood. *Ultron?*

Could these robots really be Ultron's? Tony Stark, in particular, felt a wave of guilt and self-reproach. He had created Ultron, an act that had indirectly led to countless deaths.

But now it seemed that Ultron's descent into villainy wasn't inevitable. It was possible for him to have evolved into a stable AI, much like J.A.R.V.I.S., as long as the Mind Stone's programming wasn't used.

*As long as I hadn't been so greedy,* Tony thought.

Meanwhile, Wanda, covered in blood and looking utterly terrifying, advanced toward America.

Just then, Captain Carter arrived first, followed closely by the other superheroes.

Mister Fantastic was the first to intercept Wanda. "Wanda, stop!" he pleaded. "You're controlling an innocent woman. It's not too late to turn back. Let her go!"

When Wanda remained silent, Mister Fantastic thought his words were having an effect. He continued, "Please, I have children of my own. I understand your pain!"

"Are their mother still alive?" Wanda asked a question that seemed completely out of left field.

"Yes!" Mister Fantastic nodded.

"That's good. Someone will be left to raise them," Wanda said casually. She had completely lost her mind in her quest to become a mother, her heart now boiling with murderous intent.

*Why was everyone trying to stop her? She was only doing what a mother should do. What had she done wrong?*

She had completely succumbed to madness!

Hearing her words, Mister Fantastic knew he could no longer reason with this delusional woman. He spoke a single sentence—one he would soon regret saying.

"Wanda, Black Bolt's mouth is open. He can destroy you!"

Faced with such a threat, Wanda merely tilted her head and sneered, "What mouth?"

At that moment, the onlookers watched in horror as Black Bolt's lips were inexplicably sealed shut. Then, in an instant, Wanda used her Chaos Magic to crush his skull.

*Well, that's one free kill!*

The audience watching the screen were speechless. What a way to throw his life away.

Black Bolt had been utterly wronged. He possessed immense power and could have posed a genuine threat to Wanda. Yet, Mister Fantastic had betrayed him by revealing his ability, leading to his instant death at Wanda's hands.

"The smartest man in the world? This is it?"

Tony Stark watched the scene with a hint of disdain. Mister Fantastic's performance was nothing short of moronic—hardly the behavior one would expect from the supposed smartest man on Earth.

Tony still harbored a grudge over that title. This was just the latest in a series of incidents, including Mister Fantastic's earlier attempt to judge Doctor Strange. Tony had already been disgusted by his arrogant, condescending attitude.

Although he might not have much patience for the arrogant Doctor Strange himself, seeing how Earth-838 treated him still left him speechless.

Sure, Doctor Strange abused the spell Dreamwalking, even causing an entire universe to be destroyed, and he did use the Darkhold. But it's also a fact that he used the Darkhold to find the Book of Vishanti, which he then used to defeat Thanos.

He practically saved you all single-handedly. For other universes, maybe not, but for your universe, he's a genuine hero. Isn't that right?

So how is it that in your mouths, he's become a major criminal? You say the public just needed a superhero, so he was *forced* to be one, and you even say it like he did it grudgingly.

It's the classic case of "using someone when you need them, and discarding them when you don't." Their hypocrisy is nauseating.

Perhaps Tony Stark felt a kinship in their shared misfortune. He often did thankless things himself—after all, that's how the Age of Ultron crisis started in the first place.

That's why he can't stand those self-righteous "saints." His conflict with Captain America, Rogers, was superficially about the Winter Soldier, but in reality, it was a clash between two fundamentally different ideologies.

Although he remained wary of Doctor Strange and had reached a similar conclusion—that when the world is at peace, Strange himself could become its greatest threat—that didn't mean he'd deny the sacrifices Strange had repeatedly made to save the world.

Yet these people, in their self-righteousness, were both hypocritical and shameless. They enjoyed the peace Doctor Strange had secured for them, all while condemning him and claiming he had doomed an entire universe.

Punishment was one thing—even killing the corrupted, Darkforce-tainted Doctor Strange in the end would have been acceptable. But this high-and-mighty judgment disgusted him. They had no right to judge.

*If you're so capable, why don't you step up? Why let Doctor Strange be the one to use the Darkhold to find a solution?*

This was precisely why Tony Stark looked down on these people.

Just as Tony was left speechless, Wanda had already unleashed her slaughter. Wanda's rampage through the Multiverse had only just begun.

She cast Chaos Magic, and to everyone's horror, Mister Fantastic was torn apart like noodles, one strand at a time. In a matter of seconds, the smartest man in the world—the powerful leader of the Fantastic Four—was dead. He didn't even have time to showcase his true strength before he perished.

Wanda had achieved a level of killing efficiency that even Thanos had never reached. The onlookers couldn't help but gasp in terror. *Had Wanda truly become this terrifying at this stage, fueled by her twisted maternal love?*

Without a doubt, Wanda at this stage had legitimately reached Skyfather level. Against superheroes who hadn't attained this power, her strength was simply overwhelming. Even though she was only Dreamwalking—using another version of herself as a vessel—her power was still enough to make one's scalp tingle with dread.
