The investigators did not raise their voices.
That made the room worse for Clara.
Conference room three had been cleared before they arrived. Company legal sat on one side of the table with folders, laptops, and a recorder placed in the center. Two investigators sat opposite them. One was from special crimes. The other introduced herself as financial conduct. Both had already shown identification twice, first to reception, then to legal.
Clara sat near the end of the table with her tablet open and a legal pad beside it.
Nobody offered coffee.
The special crimes investigator, Ruth Halley, started with Nadia Bellamy.
"We need the development timeline," she said. "When Ms. Bellamy entered MM Label's artist-development process, who approved her sessions, who arranged the private meetings mentioned in her counsel's statement, and who removed her from the candidate list."
