"DXD: Infinite Loot System"Chapter 264: Respective Opponents
Lightning-fast, spear flashing—Cao Cao unleashed a flurry of thrusts, dozens in a single breath. To the untrained eye, his movements were nothing but a blur; anyone else would have been skewered before they even registered the attack.
Tenra twisted and slipped through the dense web of spear shadows, barely keeping pace. He'd dodged death by a hair, but Cao Cao wasn't done. With a flick of his wrist, the war spear swept out in a brutal arc.
A razor-sharp hiss sliced the air. The spear's blade—the legendary True Longinus—carved a black fissure through space itself, its edge so keen it split the air with a visible seam.
Tenra's scalp prickled. He retreated just in time, evading the lethal sweep. Spiritual energy surged as he countered, fist rocketing toward Cao Cao.
"HAH!"
Cao Cao's eyes flashed, spear lunging to meet the blow.
Momentum collided—iron fist against holy spear.
BOOM!
The shockwave thundered, deafening. Cao Cao staggered back, arm numb from the impact. Tenra glanced at his own right arm—his armor had shattered, blood running down his hand.
With a frown, Tenra activated Smile of the Holy Mother. In an instant, the wound closed, skin flawless once more.
"Partner, that spear's too sharp. Not even Albion's armor can block it," Ddraig's voice echoed in his mind.
"Tenra Kamiyo, don't get close. Use our clones—mine and Ddraig's—to keep him occupied," Albion added, their tones unusually grave. Even the proud dragons felt the threat of the True Longinus.
Tenra nodded, low and determined. "Time for that move, then."
He channeled his energy. The armor regenerated, jewels gleaming. Suddenly, dozens of palm-sized crimson and silver dragons burst forth, whirling into the air.
"Boost! Boost! Boost!"
"Divide! Divide! Divide!"
Nearly a hundred miniature dragons zipped above Cao Cao, locking onto him. In the next instant, they unleashed a barrage of energy blasts.
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!
Elsewhere, Renare's laughter rang out—wild, bloodthirsty. She hurled clusters of jet-black flame, forcing Siegfried to dodge and weave. Several unlucky Hero Faction members caught in the fire shrieked as they disintegrated to ash.
Siegfried halted, face darkening as he saw his fallen comrades.
"Finally stopped running, you cowardly swordsman!" Renare taunted, lips curled in a vicious grin. She conjured a light spear, pulsing with curses, and hurled it at him.
"Don't get cocky, Fallen Angel!" Siegfried snapped, eyes cold. With a flash, he drew a demonic sword and cleaved the spear apart in a burst of energy.
A rain of arrows whistled in from the flank. Siegfried's swords danced, deflecting every projectile with lightning speed.
"Evil Fallen Angel, Nordic Valkyrie—looks like I'll have to get serious," he muttered, sizing up Renare and Rossweisse. Slowly, Siegfried drew a second sword, adopting a dual-blade stance.
Rossweisse landed beside Renare, voice urgent. "Renare, he's dangerous. We need to work together."
"Hmph. I don't do teamwork. Beating him is a one-woman job," Renare scoffed, her light spear morphing into a gleaming war lance. She charged in alone, reckless and fierce.
Last time, this white-haired swordsman had left her battered and humiliated. This time, she'd make him pay—a hundredfold.
Rossweisse could only sigh, frustrated by Renare's stubbornness. Still, she followed, ready to back up her reckless ally.
CLANG CLANG! CLANG CLANG CLANG!
On another front, two Knight-ranked girls pressed their attack on Jeanne d'Arc.
"Talented juniors, but you'll need more than that to beat your big sister," Jeanne teased, her holy sword moving with effortless grace. She parried, sidestepped, and exploited every opening, forcing the girls to retreat.
"How about this!" one Knight called. The two leapt aside, revealing eight Pawns behind them—now promoted to Queens.
Magic circles flared at their feet. Power built, then erupted as eight spells launched at once, converging on Jeanne.
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!
Lightning crackled, fire roared. Jeanne vanished in the explosion.
"Did we get her…?" one girl whispered, hope flickering.
As the dust cleared, their faces fell. Jeanne stood untouched, shielded by a phalanx of massive holy swords.
"My, my. You really don't hold back," she said, smiling. "Your power's impressive, but your attacks are too straightforward. If you defend in time, it's easy to block."
She stepped from behind the swords, lips quirking with mischief. "Let me show you how a senior attacks."
With a snap of her fingers—
"Watch out!" The Knights realized too late.
Blades erupted from the ground, stabbing upward. The girls cried out, sent flying by the sudden strike.
BOOM BOOM! BOOM BOOM BOOM!
Nearby, Semilia and two Bishop-ranked girls circled Heracles, launching spell after spell. They darted around his massive frame, magic blazing.
Heracles let the attacks land, barely flinching. He cracked his neck, smiling as if bored.
"Hah… hah…" Semilia and her team panted, frustration mounting.
"Why? Why don't our attacks hurt you?" Semilia demanded.
Heracles chuckled. "My last life was as the god who completed twelve impossible trials. I'm weaker as a human, but I kept a few tricks. Attacks like yours won't scratch me."
He stretched, then raised a fist the size of a boulder. "You've had your fun. My turn."
Faces pale, Semilia and the Bishops retreated. Two Rook girls charged in, fists ready.
BOOM!
Three fists collided—one massive, two smaller. The explosion was ten times stronger than anyone expected. The Rooks were sent flying, screaming.
"Oni! Maria!" Semilia caught her friends, heart sinking as she saw blood at their lips.
Rooks were supposed to be the toughest, but they'd been battered in a single blow.
Could they really beat a monster like this?
Heracles grinned. "Cao Cao mentioned it—my Sacred Gear, Giant's Prank, triggers explosions with every hit. Perfect for me."
He shrugged, almost apologetic. "Feels a bit like bullying, but this is war."
He raised his fist again. "Heads up—I'm coming!"
