"DXD: Infinite Loot System"Chapter 265: Cao Cao's Balance Breaker

The golden fox and crimson demon fox tore through Kyoto's ruins, their roars shaking the city. Each collision sent shockwaves through the streets, toppling walls and crushing buildings beneath their massive bodies. Hero Faction members tried to intervene, hurling spells at the crimson fox—only to be swatted into the dirt, their fates sealed with a single paw.

Nine-Tailed Foxes were legends, monsters on par with kings. To hold Yasaka at bay, Tenra had conjured a nine-tails with Maou-level power—a feat that drained him more than he'd admit.

Another thunderous impact. The two beasts broke apart, circling warily.

The golden fox arched its neck, gathering a fireball in its jaws—no ordinary flame, but nine-tails youkai fire, heat rolling off it in waves that scorched the air.

Across the battlefield, the crimson fox opened wide, compressing a burning red sphere—energy swirling, growing. If you squinted, you could almost call it a Tailed Beast Bomb.

Both foxes howled, unleashing their attacks at the same instant. Fireball and energy bomb collided mid-air.

BOOM!

The explosion was blinding, a miniature sun blooming in the sky. For a moment, day and night traded places.

Screams echoed nearby. Several Hero Faction women tried to ambush Katerea, only to be sent flying, blood streaming from their mouths.

"Take them alive. Quality tools—Master will be pleased," Katerea said, stretching her elegant waist, staff in hand.

"Yes, Lady Katerea."

Her lieutenants moved with cold efficiency, knocking out the wounded and dragging them back. Katerea watched her summoned beasts rampage alongside her mages, eyes glittering with excitement.

Her master was growing stronger—devouring Sacred Gear users, stealing power, becoming unstoppable. And when the world finally knelt to her master, Katerea's own ambitions would be within reach.

High above, Tenra and Cao Cao's duel raged on.

Cao Cao, battered and bleeding, was under siege from a hundred crimson and silver dragons. He dodged and parried, but fatigue crept in—his body slowing, his defense faltering.

"Not good!" he muttered, realizing he'd slipped.

A barrage of energy blasts struck him—BOOM BOOM BOOM!—ripping through his spiritual defenses. Blood trickled from his lips.

Tenra whistled, grinning. "C'mon, Cao Cao. If you don't step it up, you're dead meat."

Cao Cao wiped his mouth, a bitter smile on his face—but his eyes burned brighter than ever. "Looks like you're right. I haven't finished it, but… it's time to try."

He raised the True Longinus. Brilliant light erupted from the spear, and behind Cao Cao, a radiant halo spun into existence. Seven orbs, each the size of a bowling ball, rotated along the halo's arc.

Tenra tensed. The transformation looked deceptively calm—just a halo and some spheres—but every instinct screamed danger.

This was no ordinary power-up. This was the real threat.

Cao Cao spoke, voice edged with pride. "This is my Balance Breaker—Polar Night Longinus Chakravartin. Not quite the same as the previous wielder's True Longinus Nightmare. Sacred Gears evolve with their wielders, after all. You, of all people, should know that."

No aura leaked from him, but the air itself seemed to vibrate with menace.

Tenra nodded. "Yeah. So, what does yours do? Those orbs behind you look flashy."

Cao Cao smiled. "Sharp eye. I call them the Seven Treasures. Each one holds a unique power. You'll get to experience them—up close."

He glanced at the dragons swarming nearby. "But first, let's clear out the pests."

With a flick of his wrist, Cao Cao's spear blurred—faster than ever before. The sky filled with spear shadows, slicing through the air.

In an instant, every dragon was pierced, exploding in bursts of light.

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!

Like fireworks, the sky cleared—every last dragon gone.

Cao Cao laughed, wild and triumphant. "Here's a gift, Tenra Kamiyo! Try not to die!"

He shot forward, one orb detaching from the halo and merging with his spear.

"First Treasure—Sovereign Gem!"

He thrust the spear at Tenra, the attack impossibly fast.

Tenra's danger sense screamed. This was far beyond anything he'd felt before—ten, a hundred times worse than the last time Cao Cao tried to stop him.

"Yata no Kagami!"

No time to dodge. Tenra summoned the ancient mirror, layered his intrinsic barrier, and braced behind his Twin Heavens Armor. The defense was absolute—enough to shrug off a nuclear blast.

But—

The mirror shattered with a sickening crack. The barrier tore like paper. The Twin Heavens Armor exploded in a shower of red and white fragments.

BOOM!

Tenra was sent flying, blood spraying as he crashed into the earth, carving a crater dozens of meters wide.

Just one strike—power enough to kill gods and Maou.

The battlefield fell silent. Every eye turned to the smoking crater, shock and disbelief frozen on their faces.

Asia stared, then bolted for Tenra, smashing into the barrier again and again, heedless of the blood streaming down her face. Tears blurred her vision, but she didn't care—she had to reach him.

Tenra was her first friend, her first family—the one who'd saved her when she had nothing left. He'd given her warmth, faith, hope.

If he died now, she'd break completely.

Kunou clung to Asia, sobbing. Everyone watched, breath held, as dust settled over Tenra's broken form.

Was he alive—or dead?
