"DXD: Infinite Loot System"Chapter 274: Ravel's Fury
Tenra and Kunou stepped out of the teleportation circle, the inn's familiar air greeting them. Before he could say a word, Aisha dashed over, worry etched on her face.
"Tenra-san, are you alright?"
She'd spent the whole night fretting—he'd told them to go on ahead, but hadn't returned. Even knowing Tenra was rarely in true danger, her concern lingered.
He managed a sheepish smile. "Sorry for making you worry, Aisha. I'm fine."
He'd been off enjoying himself, while she'd lost sleep over him. The guilt stung a little; Tenra made sure to reassure her.
From across the room, Azazel's voice cut in, dry and teasing. "So, what did Princess Yasaka want that you came back with a little fox in tow?"
Tenra didn't bother with details. "Classified. Not your problem."
He turned to Aisha and the others. "Kunou's coming to Kuoh Town with us. Let's go—I'll explain once we're home."
Azazel shrugged, dropping it. Aisha and the girls didn't press further. With everyone assembled, Tenra, Azazel, and Rossweisse rounded up the school trip's students and teachers. Soon, the group was back on the bullet train, headed home.
The journey passed quietly. By the time they arrived in Kuoh, school was letting out for the day. Tenra sent the kendo club girls off in groups, then led Kunou, Aisha, and the rest back to the house.
"Tenra!"
"Tenra-sama!"
"Onii-sama!"
Home. Rias, Yubelluna, Ravel, and the rest burst out to greet them. Ravel, Ile, and Mira immediately latched onto Tenra, nearly knocking him over.
It hadn't even been that long since he'd left, but something about home—the warmth, the familiarity—always made his heart ache with nostalgia. He comforted each of the girls in turn, while Aisha and Rossweisse handed out souvenirs.
Tenra gently coaxed the shy Kunou out from behind him, presenting her to the group.
"This is Kunou. She's Princess Yasaka's daughter—the Nine-Tailed Fox."
He cleared his throat, adding, "She's also my daughter."
Predictably, the room went silent. Eyes widened. Even Aisha and Rossweisse stared, mouths agape.
How did Kunou become Tenra's daughter? What kind of plot twist was this?
Under Rias's scorching glare, Tenra braced himself and explained his arrangement with Princess Yasaka. Only when the girls learned Kunou wasn't his biological child did relief sweep through the room.
If he'd somehow fathered a daughter this old, that would have been… alarming.
Rias recovered first, sarcasm sharp. "You just never stop, do you? Everywhere you go, you end up seducing some beautiful woman. Now you've even bagged Kyoto's Nine-Tailed Princess!"
Akeno's voice was sweet, but her smile didn't reach her eyes. "Ara ara, that's my Tenra. But I'm not happy. What do you plan to do about it?"
Both girls pinched the soft flesh at Tenra's waist, one on each side—Rias with barely contained fury, Akeno with dangerous cheer.
Tenra grimaced, sucking in a breath. "Rias, Akeno… can we talk about this in my room?"
He tried to steer them away, but Rias snorted.
"Why bother? We can talk right here!"
Akeno's smile sharpened. "Tenra, you're so naughty. Trying to distract us like before?"
They saw straight through him. If they followed him into his room, he'd just try to seduce them into submission—leave them breathless and pliant, agreeing to anything he wanted. They'd learned that trick.
No chance of escape this time. Tenra glanced at Yubelluna and the others, silently begging for help. They all looked away, refusing to get involved.
He was outnumbered, outmaneuvered—and Kuroka, ever the agent of chaos, cackled from the sidelines.
A small hand tugged at his sleeve. Kunou's eyes shimmered with tears. "Onii-chan… does everyone here not like me?"
Tenra knelt, voice gentle. "Don't be silly. This is all my fault. You're adorable—everyone will love you."
He couldn't let Kunou feel rejected. He shot pleading looks at Rias and Akeno.
They relented, letting go of Tenra and turning to Kunou with sincere warmth.
"Of course we like you, Kunou. We just need to punish this bad guy for what he did to your mother."
"Kunou-chan, welcome! This is your home now."
"Hey, Kunou-nee is a yōkai, right? Let's play together!"
Yubelluna and the others joined in. Ile and Mira—mischief incarnate—were already poking at Kunou's fluffy tail.
The tension melted. Kunou's face brightened as she realized she was truly welcome.
But then—
"Onii-sama, I hate you!"
Ravel's voice rang out, raw and loud. Everyone froze as she clapped her hands over her face and bolted up the stairs, disappearing into her room.
Tenra stood dumbstruck. What just happened?
Rias shot him an annoyed look. "Don't ask me. Ravel was fine before. You must've done something to upset her."
Akeno's concern broke through her earlier irritation. "Tenra, go check on her."
Ravel was the household's princess—always sweet, polite, adored by all. No one had ever seen her lose her temper, least of all at Tenra. The girls exchanged worried glances.
Tenra felt a pang of guilt. Had he really neglected Ravel lately?
He turned to the others. "Help Kunou get settled. I'll go see Ravel."
He walked up to her door and knocked gently. "Ravel, it's me. Can you open up?"
No answer. The door was locked tight.
So she's really angry with me.
Tenra sighed, then summoned a thread of spiritual energy, snapping the lock. He stepped inside, bracing for whatever came next.
