"DXD: Infinite Loot System"Chapter 275: Ravel's Heart
"Waaah…"
Tenra stepped into Ravel's room and found her face buried in her bedsheets, sobbing so hard her shoulders shook. He'd never seen her cry like this—not even as a child. The sight twisted his stomach with guilt.
He still didn't know what had set her off, but making his little sister cry like this? He'd failed her as her Onii-sama.
"Ravel, I—"
"Get out! Onii-sama, get out! I don't want to see you ever again!"
Before Tenra could finish, Ravel snatched up her plush pillows and hurled them at him, one after another. He caught one, dodged another, and shook his head.
Enough. He crossed the room, wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her close.
"Don't be stubborn, Ravel. If I've done something wrong, tell me. I promise I'll fix it."
"Tell you? What's the point?!"
"Just go! Onii-sama, get out!"
She struggled, fists pounding his chest, all composure lost. Tenra held her gently, refusing to let go.
"I'm not leaving until you tell me what's wrong."
"If you won't leave, I'll bite you!"
"Then bite me."
"I mean it—I'll really bite you!"
"Go ahead."
With a furious cry, Ravel sank her teeth into his shoulder. Tenra winced, drawing a sharp breath.
This damn girl—she actually bit me!
But he'd earned it. He let her vent, accepting the pain as penance. She clung to him, jaw clenched, until finally she tired herself out and let go.
"Feel any better now, my precious sister?"
She rubbed her cheeks, glaring at him through tears. "Don't think you're off the hook! I hate you, Onii-sama!"
Tenra sighed and tapped her forehead. "Still won't tell me, huh? Out with it, Ravel."
Ravel pouted, voice trembling. "Onii-sama, you're always like this! You have Rias, Yubelluna, all those other girls, and you're still not satisfied. You keep chasing after new women, and now you've even brought home a daughter!"
"That's it? That's why you're upset?"
"It's not just that!" Her voice cracked. "Onii-sama, you know how I feel about you… Onii-sama…"
More tears spilled down her cheeks, her eyes full of hurt and longing.
Tenra finally understood. Yasaka and Kunou were just the trigger—the real wound ran deeper.
He'd always known Ravel's feelings for him.
But…
"Ravel, I get it. But we're siblings."
He brushed her hair back, voice gentle.
"So what? We're devils, not humans!" Ravel stared straight at him, defiant.
In the Underworld, devils marrying siblings wasn't taboo. Their bloodlines were strong, traditions different. It happened often enough.
But for Tenra, Ravel was his little sister—his purest, most innocent affection. Hurting her was the last thing he wanted.
"Ravel, your Onii-sama is a greedy, selfish bastard. Why would you choose someone like me?"
He managed a bitter smile. With her beauty and pedigree, she'd have suitors lining up around the block in a few years.
"Exactly! You're a greedy, awful person!" Ravel sniffed. "But… but I love you anyway! What am I supposed to do?"
"When we were little, you belonged only to me. Now you have more and more women. I don't want to lose to them. I don't want them stealing you away!"
She clung to him, sobbing, her words tumbling out in a rush—things she'd kept buried for years.
Tenra's heart ached. If he turned away now, their bond would shatter forever.
He'd never been one to hesitate. After a long silence, Tenra made up his mind.
"Ravel… If you choose this, you can't ever regret it."
He leaned close, whispering in her ear.
"Onii-sama, you…"
Ravel's eyes widened, shimmering with hope.
"If I don't give you an answer today, you'll never forgive me, right? I don't want to lose my most important, most adorable little sister."
"I'll talk to Father and Mother. And you, Ravel—promise me: next time you're upset, tell me. Don't just shut me out."
"It's still your fault, Onii-sama!" She stamped her foot, cheeks burning red, and buried her face in his chest.
Her heart fluttered wildly, half terror, half joy. She'd finally said everything—and Onii-sama had accepted her.
Tenra stroked her golden curls, sighing inwardly. Even his own sister… He really was sinking to new depths.
"O-Onii-sama, could you maybe not tell Father and Mother? About… about us?"
She peeked up, voice barely audible.
He grinned. "What, getting cold feet now? If I don't tell them, do you want to do it yourself?"
"No way!" Ravel's face went scarlet, and she ducked back into his arms.
She'd sooner die than confess to her parents.
"We need their blessing. But don't worry, I'll handle everything. Just promise you'll stand with me."
"…Alright, Onii-sama."
Blushing fiercely, Ravel felt safer than she ever had before.
As long as Onii-sama was with her, she could face anything.
"K-Kiss… Onii-sama, can I try…?"
Her eyes sparkled, shy and hopeful.
Tenra just chuckled, leaned down, and sealed her lips with his.
