She glanced at Lana as though nothing unusual had happened.
"So, you can begin your interview now."
Lana nodded calmly.
"Can you tell me about your village? It is situated near a very famous river. Does any kind of inconvenience ever occur because of the river? For example, has the river ever attacked or harmed the people living here?"
The woman frowned.
Then she looked at Lana more carefully.
"You do not belong to this country, do you?"
Lana fell silent.
The woman's lips curved into a faint smile.
"It seems that way. That is why you probably do not know anything about this river near our village."
The woman nodded toward the river beyond the village.
"It is called the Valour River, but it is most famous for the story, or rather, the legend known as The Jailer's Last Cry."
Lana looked at the woman with renewed curiosity, and the woman continued.
