The boy lived and now I had to live with him.
I hated living with people. I had far too many secrets buried deep to risk such closeness. But I'd given my word. Who knew that same word would backfire, forcing me to uphold it just so I wouldn't lose the trust of my people?
He was everywhere.
When I trained.
When I stepped out of my chambers.
Even in the open square, where I least wanted to see him as he would be mingled with people, he was there.
Everywhere my eyes dared to dart, he seemed to exist.
Out of desperation, I'd even hired two women the other day to pretend to moan in my chambers, hoping it would drive him away. I'd heard rumors that his father nearly took another Luna and knowing the boy must've been raised to despise anything close to a woman's dramatics, I figured it would work. I wanted him to think I was wild, kinky even so he'd keep his distance.
But it didn't work.
Hell, it didn't.
