Alpha Noca had stopped Ariadne from sending servants to bring food to me, insisting that I begin eating in his dining hall. As an inhabitant of his house, I was to abide by his rules. And so was she to keep to her own quarters unless summoned by the Alpha, or unless he went to see her himself.
I had thought she was close to him, but the way they exchanged words earlier when he ordered her back to her quarters made me wonder otherwise. Why did he treat her that coldly and dismissive when he was the very one said to have been raised by her?
My thoughts wouldn't rest. They spun endlessly around what Alpha Noca had said earlier, around his question, his tone, his look. What was it he really wanted to know? And why did he insist on keeping me within such close proximity to him?
