Chapter 11 - Mission Impossible

Black glanced through his notebook, looking through the names of members of Blackpool.

He was looking for someone that could be the best point of contact and entry into the institution. He needed more than just names.

He needed information, access and secrets to unleash devastations on his enemies. So he has to access a member that is displayed publicly, at the same time, a member capable of belonging to the secret societies.

Quite unable to decide, he skimmed through the names once again then he made a gamble.

He decided to flip a coin. He numbered all the names on his list and separated the names with odd numbers from the names with even numbers.

Dealing with the names with odd numbers only, he then separated the names in two(s).

Picking a pair of names, the first name is representated with one side of the coin in his hands, while the second name is representated with the other side. Then he flipped.

Any side of the coin that was above was the names he picked.

After the decision, he was left with four names to start with.

And among the names, Victoria Frost was number three.

"You have got to be someone of specific interest for you to keep appearing in front of me, always. Is this coincidence or fate?".

Black rebooted Echo and typed some keywords.

"Let's start with someone interesting, Victoria Frost. How much finance does she possess...."

.....Echo running financial background check.....

AS OF TODAY, VICTORIA FROST HAS ABOUT $98,564 IN LIQUID. NO RECORDING OF PROPERTIES, NO CAR, OR HOUSES TO SELF.

"I thought all Blackpool members are filthy rich?" Black shifted slightly.

THERE ARE TWO POSSIBLE WAYS THIS COULD BE HAPPENING. EITHER SHE WAS NOT PROPERLY RENUMERATED OR SHE KEEPS HER POSSESSIONS PRIVATE.

"Typical. Do you think we can use her as an entrance to infiltrate Blackpool?".

WITH 0.73% PROBABILITY OF SUCCESS, I THINK WE CAN TRY.

"That is like mission impossible..." Black grinned at himself.

"Initiate minimal account breach on all her banks accounts and halt all possible transactions.." "And proceed to extract all informations regarding her."

... Initiating minor account breach on Victoria's bank accounts....

..... Initiation completed, account breached....

"Now, we find Victoria..."

*******

Victoria was denied access to any information that might lead to William Junior. Laven enterprise were known to be very secretive and extremely dogmatic in regards to clients confidentiality. They understood that majority of their clients are wealthy folks, who might have had a lot of financial issues or crimes, so they have preventives measure in place to ensure none of their clients information is leaked or exposed.

Victoria was met with a dead end. Even she was amazed at the level of protection Laven enterprise uses to ensure maximum confidentiality.

"I think I might consider Laven enterprise if I decide to get a property..."

Aside the fact that she could not get what she wanted, the day could not have been any worse, as she decided to get a bowl of ice cream and fried drumsticks.

"What is the worse that could happen today?" Victoria had asked no one particular.

Walking into the nearby restaurant, she made her orders and found herself a seat.

"Urgmmmm, this is sooo satisfying..." Victoria chewed hungrily at her meal. After a few minutes of rest, she was about to leave the restaurant and decided to pay for her meal.

She passed her debit card to the waiter with no doubt or worries.

The waiter, oblivious to what was happening frowned at the Point-on-sale (POS) device with him, and even hitting it at the back twice to ensure the device was at optimal functioning.

Yet, the debit card kept declining with a prompt response of either 'insufficient funds' or 'Account temporarily suspended'...

Finally having enough proof, the waiter with a calm and confident countenance, reported the debit issue on her card to her.

Victoria was stunned at first by the report. Then she requested that the waiter try again one more time, which he did, but with the same result.

Pissed, she rummaged through her purse for another debit card, and handed it over to the waiter.

The waiter, with a mastered composure, collected the second card, his face revealing nothing, then he swiped the card and...

"Ma'am, I'm sorry. Payment declined. Do you have a cheque or a credit card. It will save you the stress." The waiter said.

"This is the first time this is happening. I do not have a credit card or cheque. Never used one."

Frustration and remorse was visible on Victoria's face, as she scroll through her phone. Panicking, she dialled her account manager to ask what could have been the issue with her bank accounts.

Amidst the chaos, Black had arrived at Laven enterprise once again, this time wearing another set of clothes. And straight away, he made his way to the restaurant below the building.

The finance office at Laven enterprise had phoned Black about an individual trying to pry into his records. So he had guessed she would still be around Laven proximity when he arrives there.

And where could she be currently? She couldn't have used a taxi, because she won't be able to pay. And she wouldn't dare to trek.

She might want to try and eat, and I guess she would be having troubles paying by now, or even freaking out.

Black entered the restaurant and scanned the space, and there she is. His prediction was right.

He could smell her panic from miles away. He walked towards her location and greeted.

Victoria lightened up a bit upon seeing a familiar face. Her face had become pink from embarrassment, because it should not have been Black meeting her in her current situation.

Uncomfortably, she shifted on her chair, and stammered to respond to Black's greetings.

Black sat on the available chair at her table, and asked "what is going on?".

The waiter seeked permission from Victoria, who gave him a nod before he proceeded to explain the situation to Black.

"Oh, I see. Card issues, these banks are not that reliable. Do you mind I use mine?".

Black gave it a thought, and dismissed using his card, cause his real name would be on the payment receipt.

He checked his back pocket and brought out a wad of cash, counted a few notes and gave the waiter.

"Have it, Chief. And keep the change. You deserve it". Black nodded.

Victoria blushed at the gesture, and avoided his eyes.

'Gosh! He is so adorable. Why am I feeling warm.....Urghhh".

The waiter left and Victoria thanked Black for coming through for her. She could not hide her excitement and admiration as it was pouring out of her mouth, demeanor and body language.

Black gave her some cash to use for her convenience till her bank accounts is fixed. To his surprise, she rejected the money and instead decided to follow him to wherever he would have wanted to go.

Stunned, he advised against the decision, but Victoria was adamant.

"Okay, if you say so, shall we?" Black responded half-heartedly.

"Wait, weren't you trying to eat before when you came into the restaurant. I don't want to believe you came into the restaurant to look for me and rescue a troubled princess..." Victoria said sarcastically amidst laughs.

With a tricky retreat, Black decided to get something if at all. So, he went back in and bought everything in twos.

After they got out of the restaurant, Victoria asked, "So where next?"..

"Hmm, the movies?..." Black replied.

"That is just right...lead the way". Victoria chirped.

Black hailed a taxi and both of them made their way to the cinema. He bought two movie tickets and they settled for a movie.

After fifteen minutes of absolute silence while enjoying the movie, Victoria asked, "Why did you come to Laven enterprise twice today?"

"Or do you live nearby?"

"You really saved me today.. but I think meeting you twice was not mere coincidence. Or do you work at Laven enterprise...?"

"So many questions for one night, huh?".

Embarrassed, Victoria dismissed the conversation, "Sorry, that is just my mind outworking itself, don't bother".

Black sighed..."No, it is fine. Do you want to know about me? Then I will tell you."
