Chapter 17 - Everyone has a Price to pay.

The next day, Victoria was already on her way to Laven enterprise. She was eager to know about this enigmatic individual that was nonchalantly buying every empty houses in Jos, and what if it was the same person she had been looking for?

Intelligence had speculated that the person would be William Junior, but they were not sure. That was why Victoria came for this undercover operation. Needless to say, there was nothing under covered about this operation.

If Victoria had known that the same person she had been looking for, for the past 3 years, was the same person she is engrossingly infatuated with, only gods know what she might have done.

Would she betray BlackPool for Black? or would she hand him over like everything was just a game.

Maybe she knew who he was anyways, but decided to play the long term game, enough to make him relax and then she pounce. She could just be waiting to get a hold of Echo, then pull up with BlackPool securities.

Victoria got out of the taxi and adjusted her dress. She took a deep breath and adjusted her posture.

"Let's get it done with...." as she took moderate strides into Laven building.

Black had made his way to his house after Victoria left for Laven enterprise. She had told him she would be meeting Laven CEO for a brief talk.

'At least she was not lying about that, just keeping the details'.

But that wasn't his main concern for now. If Laven could sell him out, then they are acting against the very legal terms of their investments.

So what could he do without having to show his presence?

Attack?

Sue?

Black laughed. "That will be a long process especially with BlackPool backings. That is if BlackPool meant all the promises in the first place. But at least they paid the CEO, that is their price to pay".

"All I can do is attack Laven enterprise with the best financial armageddon I know, with my real estate investment at stake, that is my price to pay".

"And...." he paused rummaging through his thoughts.

"What if I alert every investors at Laven enterprise about a potential breach of contract and confidentiality...and have them sue Laven?".

"Wouldn't that be the price to pay for Laven and its CEO for a breach of confidentiality..."

Black shrugged, pulling the device from his safebox, he connected it to his computer and Echo came alive.

This time, there was no welcome prompt from Echo.

Black didn't notice it at first until after few seconds.

"What? You don't welcome your boss again?" Black asked frowning.

'When does a bot start keeping grudges?' He thought.

FROM THE RECENT INFORMATION I GOT FROM BLACKPOOL DATABASE, THEY JUST PAID LAVEN CEO $15 MILLION DOLLARS TO BREACH YOUR CONFIDENTIALITY. ALSO, THEY PAID A TECH GIANT RECENTLY. I CAN NOT CONFIRM WHY, BUT IT STIRS TOWARDS TRACKING ME DOWN WITHIN THE SHORTEST TIME POSSIBLE. RIGHT NOW, I THINK I AM AT RISK OF EXPOSURE.

Black sighed. "I understand better now, and I realised it is a dog eat dog world".

"It never gets better, you only get stronger and ruthless..."

IF YOU SAY IT LIKE THAT. I GUESS YOU ARE HERE TO INITIATE AN ATTACK ON LAVEN STOCK?

"Yes, wait....what? how did you know that?"

IT IS CLEARLY WRITTEN OVER YOUR FACE.

"Shit. I do not feel safe around you anymore".

STOP TRIPPING BOSS, I AM YOUR BEST BET RIGHT NOW.

"Glad you are coming back. So shall we begin the attack. I have been dying to try this skill of yours".

GLAD YOU ASKED. OPERATION INITIATED.

.... Synchronising Laven stock database.....

.... Security breached....

..... Eligibility terminated....

.....Digital stock impaired.....

.....Access to database blocked....

I HAVE DIGITALLY FALSIFIED A FAKE STOCK DROP, TO INSTILL FEAR AMONG INVESTORS. THIS WILL MAKE INVESTORS PANIC SELL THEIR STOCK. I MADE SURE IT WILL DIP EVERY HOUR TO ERASE EVERY FORM OF HOPE.

I HAVE ALSO BLOCKED LAVEN ACCESS TO THEIR ORIGINAL STOCK DATABASE. IF YOU CAN'T ACCESS IT, YOU CAN'T DENY IT.

Blacked grinned. "Now that have access to Laven database, how about you mail every investors and stakeholders about Laven conspiracy. Tell them Laven is about to breach their contract and they have to sue..."

ABOUT TIME YOU ASKED. I WAS ITCHY TO DO JUST THAT.

Black gave a side eye glance, he could not imagine Echo being itchy.

BOSS?

"Yeah??".

HOW ABOUT I BUY MORE LAVEN STOCK AS IT DIPS? BUYING LARGE VOLUME, SO THAT WHEN THE CHAOS DIES DOWN AND THEY REALISED IT WAS ALL FALSE, YOU HAD BEEN THE LARGEST HOLDERS OF LAVEN SHARES.

"Isn't that a brilliant idea... but are you sure it is just as wise?".

I NEVER ALMOST MAKE A MISTAKE, BOSS. I NEVER DO.

"I think I have crossed the $5 million dollars threshold right..? Maybe you can buy a million dollar worth."

SILLY. I WILL NOT BE DOING THAT.

"What?" Black was stunned with the response.

ARTHUR HAS MORE THAN $770 MILLION DOLLARS THAT WAS GIVEN TO YOU. DO YOU THINK IT WAS FOR YOU TO KEEP AND SAVE? NAH....IT WAS A TOOL FOR YOU TO FIGHT, WIN AND FINISH WHAT HE STARTED. PUT THAT MONEY TO GOOD USE.

I WILL INITIATE A $50 MILLION DOLLARS PURCHASE IN ONE HOUR AS SOON AS THE OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE.

"What the f"ck!" Black exclaimed.

INVESTOR MOVES, BOSS. ACT LIKE ONE.

Black was fidgety. He was not sure if that was a good move for a stock that is tanking. Or maybe it was the amount that feared him.

Soon, Laven enterprise customer service offices started blowing up. And it gets worse by the minutes. The huge screen displayed at the waiting hall was showing a declining stock, even people waiting to invest started taking their leave.

Phones were blaring and worker were frantic in their attempts to calm the investors.

It was as if investors could not keep at bay their impatience anymore, and sooner than expected, they began arriving at Laven enterprise building.

Moments ago it was three vehicles parked outside, now it was seventeen and counting.

Investors were panic selling or even withdrawing their stocks.

Victoria was seated at the CEO office waiting for him to enter and get their business done with. But he never came. He was so caught up with the news and happenings around him that he forgot he was to see someone that morning.

After waiting for more than one hour, Victoria decided to walk downstairs to ask the receptionist again why the CEO has not been to his office.

But when she got downstairs, all that was waiting for her was chaos.

Uncontrollable chaos, the type which only Echo, the financial armageddon was capable of.
