Erik quickly adapted to his new life. There were many scientists in the lab, but few more... physical positions, because the Xenomorphs already acted as security guards and there weren't many other necessary professions.
Erik held a general assistant position, but he was essentially a jack-of-all-trades, helping wherever duty called, including collection, caregiving, and many other tasks.
Even so, the man seemed to like this life, so Ringo left him alone.
He continued his experiments with his newfound ability, including creating a new experiment where he left two different super systems in place after finishing his edit. The result? An explosion so powerful it would give a Grade B Super a headache. On a side note, the materials were purely Grade E.
Fortunately, Ringo's precognition prevented him from doing this in his laboratory, he took the experiment to a deserted region.
After that, Ringo had another idea.
The five Super systems were impossible to merge, that was a fact, but what about merging different variations within just one Super system?
For example, could a Technician be merged with a Mechanic Pugilist and a Cannon Master?
[A/N: For those who don't remember, the Mechanic class can be divided into 3 after leveling up the first class, Engineer, to the maximum level (Lv. 10) and completing the class quest. An Engineer can choose to become a Technician, a Mechanical Pugilist, or a Cannon Master, each with their own strengths and specific abilities.]
Each character's skills varied, the Technician focused on construction, the Mechanical Pugilist on direct combat, but unlike a regular Pugilist, their skills required machinery to be used, and finally the Cannon Master, focused on long-range damage, was described as capable of raining down ammunition from an impressive distance, the farther away one was from a Cannon Master, the more dangerous they were.
Han Xiao chose Technician because it was more balanced and had the largest number of projects to learn from.
Of course, it was still possible to learn the projects from the other divisions, but it wasn't possible to learn them directly through project extrapolation by combining class skills, instead, it needed to be acquired externally.
In the context of NPCs, that is, normal Supers from this galaxy, although there were still divisions, learning blueprints depended solely on acquiring them on your own or building them from scratch.
However, Ringo's goal with this was to discover if the class abilities of each division could be maintained, that is, that they were not created by external conditions, but were acquired by advancing their class.
He had some low-level mechanics, so he tried directly, and the result? The mechanics managed to retain the designs and skills they had acquired in other ways, but class skills? He had to choose one of the divisions.
Ringo wasn't too disappointed, the fact is, trying to bypass the Sanctums is nearly impossible for him at his current level. Even as a top-tier Grade S Super, he still thought it would be impossible, so it was an expected outcome.
It was a shame, but Ringo isn't useless yet, after all, mechanics take a long time to learn designs, unlike players who have the interface and can learn knowledge directly. Mechanical NPCs need to learn everything slowly.
Merging two mechanics into one, while retaining the knowledge of both, is like combining their expertise, this would greatly strengthen one mechanic.
He thought directly of Lena with this, he had imparted a great deal of knowledge to her since she entered the galaxy, but she still had to learn slowly.
If he were to take the souls of powerful mechanics and fuse them with her own, discarding everything about the other mechanics except their knowledge, wouldn't that be the same as rapidly accelerating countless years of study?
This would not only strengthen their soul, but also their intelligence, which is the main attribute of mechanics.
This greatly excited Ringo, but at the same time made him apprehensive. To merge so many souls like that, even without memories, would the result still be Lena? Ringo couldn't be sure that this wouldn't cause mental problems, he wasn't a psychic, it wasn't his focus.
Thoughtfully, Ringo quickly devised a solution, if he could shrink a fragment of soul as much as possible using his Nightmare energy, leaving only a small fragment of soul while retaining all mechanical knowledge... the risks would be minimal and the advantage immense.
Aside from the fact that his evolutionary energy could help Lena's soul to strengthen and remain sane, for classes that depended on knowledge, this power was a tremendous cheat.
However, Ringo hasn't given up on bending the rules yet, this time he's focused on something much less complicated, just as mechanics, mages, and psychics also rely heavily on intelligence.
Primarily the Mages.
Mages are generally focused on different aspects, because focusing on all aspects would be nearly impossible, the ultimate goal of magic is imagination, and the number of existing spells should be even greater than the number of mechanical designs, not less.
So what if he takes the knowledge of a Mage in a particular branch of magic and merges it with that of another Mage from a completely different branch? No... what if he merges thousands of different Mages... wow, even he's afraid of a Mage like that.
Ringo didn't quite understand this new power, because it was connected to evolutionary power, but now he understood.
This ability is even useful to him, strengthening his soul or body by merging with powerful creatures... although the knowledge isn't very useful to him, compared to the Nightmare's costly process, merging his soul with others is basically a direct sum, there's no limit.
Taking a deep breath, Ringo figured out how to name this ability.
He called it Evolutionary Polymer, a fusion of small parts to create something larger and stronger.
