Chapter 95 - Chapter 89 Nick Fury rebels?

Regarding Hyperion: A Google search revealed that in some Universes, he was adopted by ordinary people and grew up to become a superhero, his journey to becoming a public figure similar to Superman's.

However, in other Universes, he was discovered by Earth upon his arrival, then taken in by the United States Government and raised in a secluded environment created by the government, becoming their secret weapon upon reaching adulthood.

But later, as he came into contact with the outside World, Hyperion eventually realized that the government had been instilling various purposeful concepts in him since childhood, subtly brainwashing him and deceiving him all along.

Thus, he turned against the United States, using his power to cause earthquakes of magnitude ten or higher on Earth…

"It seems this background better fits the current situation."

Ron pondered Hyperion's background, then instructed General Ross to investigate.

Unlike General Ross's agitated tension, Ron didn't take it too seriously.

Regardless of Hyperion's situation, by analogy with Odin's usual power level, Ron's current strength would definitely not be inferior to Hyperion's.

During this time, he focused more on Wakanda, which was continuously expanding its city under his orders.

This was to accommodate the personnel who would arrive in the future…

In a few days, he planned to visit the Moon, where there was a hidden space city called Attilan, inhabited by a race called Inhumans.

Similar to Mutants, members of their race could awaken unique superpowers under the influence of Terrigen Mist.

They were a powerful race, quite renowned throughout the Universe.

Most importantly, they also possessed defensive dome technology similar to Wakanda's, and perhaps even more advanced.

"After all, they are a race that immigrated to the Moon long ago."

Although they were running out of space on the Moon due to resource scarcity, and were hesitant to return to Earth and expose themselves to human scrutiny, they remained at an impasse.

With great power comes great responsibility.

Once the city for their resettlement was built, Ron planned to help them find a new path—Wakanda.

As long as they pledged their loyalty, they would receive his protection.

West of New York City, a Base jointly established by S.H.I.E.L.D. and the U.S. Space Agency.

"Attention all personnel, evacuation order confirmed, please evacuate immediately."

Above the Base, a helicopter broadcast a solemn announcement, evacuating personnel within the Base.

"Has the situation become so bad that the entire Base needs to be evacuated?"

Deputy Director Hill, who rushed over upon receiving the notification, saw the panicked evacuation of various personnel from the Base and asked in a deep voice.

Coulson, whose face was slightly pale and looked like he was recovering from a serious illness, had a solemn expression: "That's the problem, Director.

We don't know what happened."

The Tesseract, which had been under research in the Base, had an unusual reaction.

They knew very little about it and didn't know what was happening.

But what was certain was that the object possessed almost infinite energy, and even a slight loss of control would be a huge disaster.

"Captain, is that you?"

Then a familiar figure stepped out of a car, and Coulson's face showed surprise.

Captain America was in civilian clothes, but as a fan, Coulson recognized him at a glance.

Steve politely shook hands with the delighted Coulson, then turned, took his shield from the car, and looked at Fury.

"Fury, don't tell me you've hidden another dragon in this place."

He was getting old, and his heart couldn't take repeated scares.

"No need to be nervous, there are no dragons.

But there is a beautiful glowing gem."

Taking the elevator, the group quickly reached the underground level, Fury said.

Coulson gravely and quickly explained the situation to Nick Fury: four hours ago, the Tesseract began emitting energy fluctuations without any trigger, and its energy level was continuously rising.

"In short, the Tesseract inexplicably activated."

"Have you tried turning it off?"

Someone from the last century, holding a shield, offered a down-to-Earth suggestion.

"It is itself a huge energy source; it cannot be turned off," Coulson replied honestly.

Down in the underground lab, the personnel had already stopped their work, nervously swallowing as they stared at the object at the center, enveloped by an energy extraction device—a cube emitting a faint blue glow.

It looked increasingly 'active,' and they were helpless.

"Fury, is this the gem you mentioned?"

Upon reaching the underground level and seeing the cube, Captain America immediately frowned.

He had seen this object before, on the plane where he fought Red Skull.

It had killed Red Skull Schmidt, melted the cabin, and fallen from the sky, its whereabouts unknown.

"We found it at the bottom of the sea when we were searching for you, Captain, amidst the ice and snow of the last century.

It possesses endless energy; if we thoroughly research it, Earth will no longer worry about energy."

After assessing the situation, Fury, with a grave expression, simply replied, then looked upstairs and asked, "Agent Barton, any findings?"

As for S.H.I.E.L.D. researching weapons through it, it was better not to let Captain America know.

He sent a secret order to Hill, instructing her to evacuate those weapons and personnel.

Hawkeye, who was guarding the Tesseract, descended from above using a rappel rope, his lips pressed together in a solemn expression: "No one touched it; external forces can be ruled out."

He had been watching it constantly and could confirm this.

Looking at the faintly glowing Tesseract, he said, "Perhaps… the problem isn't with us."

"What do you mean?"

"They say this Tesseract is a cosmic door."

Glancing at the scientists, Hawkeye offered a conjecture: "Since it's a door, it can be opened from both sides."

As he spoke, the Tesseract suddenly moved, shooting out a faint blue energy ray and opening a wormhole.

"Fall back, fall back!"

The special forces shouted, telling the lab personnel to retreat, and they raised their guns, pointing them at the wormhole.

Nick Fury and the others picked up their weapons, watching nervously.

What would intelligent beings from the vast and mysterious other side of the Universe look like? Would they be friend or foe?

Holding his shield, Captain America quickly stepped in front of them.

Buzz!

The wormhole, which had barely lasted one or two seconds, dissipated, and a ripple of energy spread out.

It was a very short time, but it was enough for one or two people to cross countless light-years to reach Earth.

Two figures appeared.

Loki had just used the Mind Stone to sense the Space Stone and open the portal; he was a bit weak.

The tall, menacing Black Dwarf contemptuously surveyed the underground laboratory, weighing the heavy pickaxe in his hand.

"Is this the Earth My Lord wants?"

"Put down your weapons."

Nick Fury raised the pistol he pulled from his clothes and growled, "I don't care if you're gods or monsters!"

They all recognized Loki; they had seen videos of Loki leading the Frost Giant army to invade Earth.

"It seems our Prince has fallen on hard times.

This time he only brought one, and an even uglier one?"

Hawkeye drew his bow, aiming at Loki.

Last time, Loki led an entire mythical army of Frost Giants; this time, he was alone.

"Is that so? Look at this."

Loki, who was targeted and mocked, gradually regained strength and stood up from the ground.

A cold smile appeared on his face as he raised his newly acquired Mind Stone and unleashed an energy blast.

Bang!

Captain America raised his shield at an astonishing speed and blocked it.

"Die, insect."

Black Dwarf, whose nature was bloodthirsty and brutal, held his enormous heavy pickaxe, leaped, and swung it down, roaring.

Bang!

A loud clang of metal.

Captain America blocked with his shield, then counterattacked with a punch, unleashing dozens of tons of force.

Crack! Crack!

The three-meter-tall mini-giant Black Dwarf was sent flying a dozen meters, smashing an iron test bench.

Loki looked at the flying Black Dwarf speechlessly.

Perhaps he had misunderstood Thanos; could such a simple-minded fellow even serve as a monitor?

"Captain?"

Coulson exclaimed.

He knew his idol was strong, but when did he acquire such power?

"No need to be surprised, Coulson.

Everything must keep pace with the times."

Fury patted his shoulder, his gaze sharp.

"Now, put down your weapons, Loki."

"I said… no!"

Loki, holding the Mind Stone, leaped to attack.

The special forces opened fire, but the bullets fell harmlessly to the ground after hitting him.

As a Frost Giant comparable to an Asgardian, his physique was difficult to harm with ordinary weapons.

The special forces were cut down like melons and vegetables.

"You've angered me, insect!"

Black Dwarf stood up in a rage, charging at Captain America like a giant war machine.

After killing a few special forces, Loki's fierce gaze turned to Nick Fury.

Hawkeye, holding his longbow that transformed into a mechanical staff, tried to stop him but was swatted away by a single strike of the Mind Stone.

"You want to escape by taking me hostage.

A good thought.

But you won't succeed."

After taking two steps, Nick Fury, who was trying to leave with the Tesseract, was forced to stop as the Mind Stone with its sharp blade pressed against his neck.

He spoke calmly, without panic.

"It doesn't need to be that complicated; just give me the Tesseract."

Loki smirked cunningly, pressing the Mind Stone against his chest.

The Mind Stone exerted its power, and Nick Fury's single eye turned black, as if polluted, then the darkness receded, leaving behind a glowing pupil.

The hostility in his eyes vanished, replaced only by obedience, and he handed the Tesseract to Loki.

"Captain, this seems a bit too good."

Seeing this, Hawkeye, who was struggling to get up from the ground, widened his eyes and said, "Director seems to have betrayed us."

Captain America, adapting to his newfound strength, easily suppressed the mini-giant Black Dwarf with his superb combat skills.

He turned his head, wondering if he had misheard something.

"Who did you say?"

Nick Fury betrayed them?

The energy from the earlier wormhole dissipation gathered and swirled on the ceiling, becoming increasingly unstable, seemingly on the verge of exploding.

"Get out of the way!"

With a roar, Black Dwarf sent Captain America flying and retreated to Loki's side.

"Goodbye, everyone."

Loki smiled, activated the Tesseract in his hand, and a wormhole appeared behind him.

The Mind Stone fired a ball of energy, hitting the faint blue energy mass on the ceiling.

Bang!

A massive energy explosion spread, and the underground Base continuously collapsed.

"Come quickly!"

At this critical moment, black tentacles extended from Captain America's body, grabbing the two from seven or eight meters away and forming a large circular shield, covering them both.

Before being covered, Coulson's eyes showed horror.

Was this his idol, Captain America?

The startled Hawkeye, facing Steve in his tentacle-monster form, almost lost control and attacked.

Bang, bang, massive rocks and shattered ceiling crashed down.

The ground within a nearly one-mile radius collapsed.

"What happened?" Hill, who had just led her team and weapons out of the Base, turned back to look at the collapsing ground and anxiously asked through her earpiece, "Director, how are you all?"

"We're under the rubble." In the light of the phone screen, Captain America, who was struggling to hold up the black shield while the two looked at him like a monster, felt unaccustomed to such gazes and looked a bit depressed.

"By the way, Hill, you might be Director very soon."

"Director sacrificed himself?"

"In terms of actions, he has temporarily betrayed us."

"Betrayed?" Hill was stunned to hear this.
