Chapter 28 - Work Force

Alexander Smith

The campaign has come to a successful conclusion but not without any fatalities player. It would appear that despite the penalty imposed by the sect, a few players had still intentionally ventured out to one of the dukes' main base of operation literally "poking the bear" into action. The players should really count their blessing for the flow of even that happens after that. The duke might have initially thought himself lucky, arriving just in time to rescue one of his town from being attacked but the outcome was ultimately in the players favor. Had the duke encountered a group of players attacking a village instead, it will be a foregone conclusion that the entire group of players will be wiped out. Even if Alex along with Henry and Daniel is in the group attacking said village, it will still not the change the outcome. The three of them just don't have the needed "firepower" to quickly end the battle. It can be said that taking down a cultivator with even a single major realm higher is an expensive and lost making business. Although the players managed to retrieve the duke's storage ring, the wealth within still couldn't make up for the twenty level four talisman and scrolls used. Alex is sure someone will definitely give those few renegade players a lot of pain and grief for the financial losses suffered.

As a final tally of the campaign, the players managed to relocate more than two hundred thousand natives to Eldorin and after being processed by the sect, it has been announced that there eighty six thousand adult workers available for hire at the Native Employment Agency. Putting things into perspective, ten thousand players had either contributed directly or indirectly towards the campaign's success. If these workers are to be divided equally among ten thousand players, each player will only be able to hire less than ten workers per player. The number of workers available for hire is still a far cry from what most players needed. Additionally, not all worker available for hire are of equal value. The Native Employment Agency had made it so that it will take more campaign contribution points to hire a skilled worker or a worker that has started cultivating. The higher the worker's cultivation realm, the more campaign contribution points needed to hire the worker.

In the end, Alex has successfully gotten his hand on thirty eight workers of varying skill and cultivation realm. Initially, he had thought that the early bird gets the worm. He went to to the Native Employment Agency the first day it is open for business with the intention of hiring the needed manpower before all the workers with better qualification have been hired out. The experience has been highly unpleasant with him ended up wasting more than three hours in a building jam packed with other players sharing a similar thought as him. Just thinking that he will have to repeat doing the same thing again after the next campaign makes his head hurts. Instead of suffering alone, he will just have to make sure either Henry or Joshua take up this task after the second campaign.

Truth be told, Alex is glad he ended up only hiring thirty eight workers. The Native Employment Agency has made it clear that the players with be fully responsible for the room and board of all the workers they have hired. If the worker has a family, the player is oblige to take care of them as well. At this point in time, his plot of land only has a modest workshop and their family's private residence block completed. Housing the new hires and their family would be a problem for him under normal circumstances. It is fortunate for Alex that this is Oryn, the most developed settlement on the entire Eldorin. Instead of rushing to complete the needed hostel and mess hall, he can easily rent a place from the other players. Real estate development is blooming on Oryn and Alex even has the choice to choose one of the three nearby residential complexes that comes with supporting facilities and amenities. This is in fact a cheaper solution that building his own hostels and mess hall. When his workers are finally ready to buy their own place, he just have to convert the current expense into a housing allowance instead.

For the first phase, Alex has decided to hire up to five hundred workers after much discussion with Henry. At that point, he will have sufficient manpower to run the production line for all the magic machineries that are most popular in the market. If he has not grossly miscalculate the growth of the incoming workforce, he should be able to achieve the desired head count after another four or five campaign. That translates into another four or five Earth weeks. Once this goal has been achieve, the factory complex on Oryn will most likely take a backseat as the family begins diverting the majority of available resources to expand their foothold and operations on Tolena.

Tolena's hostile environment makes bringing non cultivator to reside and work there a lot more challenging. It is good news that Alex can piggyback on Daniel's family massive investment on Tolena. Aside from the massive factory complex that is under construction, Daniel's family has also been involved in building residential complexes with all the needed supporting facilities and amenities. Simply put, they can be considered Tolena's largest real estate developer. If all goes according to schedule, Alex just need to focus on building up his own factory complex one Earth month down the road.

Another relationship he can leverage on Tolena is the Kozlov family. The Kozlov family is definitely unique in comparison to all the other natives brought back to Eldorin. Even if other natives have the financial means, they will not be able to own any real estate on Eldorin due to their temporary resident status. It will take five years of good behaviour before the sect will elevate their status to permanent resident status and also granting them the right to own real estate. Benefitting from Igor's status as Conrad's direct disciple and Jean's grand disciple, the Kozlov family has already gain permanent resident status and was gifted with a plot of land north of Tolena, at the edge of the green zone to build their very own village. Last he heard from Jean, the Kozlov family will be one of his improvised plans to help Tolena improves its food security. Despite the Kozlov family short presence on the South Western continent, the family already had two football field sized greenhouse up and running growing vegetables and a small ranch raising a small herd of snow deer. Two other greenhouse are already under construction and more are to be build down the pipeline. As for the rest of the staple food needed to enable a town to grow without issue, the town of Belum and Duvon has began to produce a surplus for export. The two towns' food production will see an exponential growth now that players are able to hire additional farmhands to scale up the size of their operations.

Acting Sect Leader Maximus Radcliffe

Maximus takes one last look at the report in his hand before addressing the two disciples in front of him. "Lin Fu, twenty-six years old. Second batch of disciples from Earth. Li Yong, twenty-four years old. Third batch of players from Earth. I believe the two of you must have a lot of questions. Before the two of you start asking questions, please answer mine first. What is last thing the two of you remember?"

"Getting shot . Am i dead or in a coma? is impressive but I don't think this will be what crosses my mind before death, right? I have much greater regret in life than . My poor parents, how cruel will it be having to attend their own son's funeral. Or did backup arrived and managed to get us to a hospital in time? I somehow managed to survive and am actually in a deep coma now."

"I regret to inform that both your physical body back on Earth is dead. If that's not the case, there is no way your soul will find the way to the only remaining living body you have here on Eldorin." Maximus begins explaining. "If the two of you still haven't figure it out, then let me spell it out to you. is not a game and is actually real."
