Yin's POV
Irene's scream nearly stopped my heart.
I was at her side before I consciously decided to move, grabbing her shoulders. "What happened? What's wrong?"
"There was a woman," she gasped, her whole body shaking as she pointed at the empty corner. "Right there, she was staring at me and her eyes, and she looked like she wanted to kill me."
I looked at the corner and saw absolutely nothing. Just shadows and the edge of a wardrobe. "Irene, there's no one there, it's just us in this room."
"I saw her! I swear I saw her!" Tears were streaming down her face now and she looked genuinely terrified. "She was so pale, almost see-through, and the hatred in her face was, it was—"
I sat on the edge of the bed and took her hands in mine, trying to ground her. "Listen to me, the pain medication Dr. Winters gave you last night, it can cause hallucinations, vivid ones that seem completely real."
