Chapter 261 - Chapter 261: Han's Beauty Trap

Chapter 261: Han's Beauty Trap

Back in Los Angeles, Ron resumed his mundane daily routine of slacking off during the day, playing various games with Sheldon and his four friends after work, and then staying over at night at any of his girlfriends' places.

Tony's case was quickly solved. After all, it was practically effortless, with virtually all the difficulties contrived. If Sherlock had handled it, it would probably have taken him a day at most.

However, Tommy was able to complete the case within a week, which was quite impressive. At least he was much better than Hobbs, who could only glare and yell.

The only regret was that Tony's dream of a bonus was dashed again. Morrison Sr. died before they could find the murderer, so the biggest winner turned out to be various charities.

However, Ron certainly didn't gain nothing. After Dr. James's suicide, the hospital he owned automatically became the property of Ron's team. Although Ron didn't intend to run it directly, he did interview a new attending physician named Dr. Grey for the position of head of the hospital.

Ron swore that he had chosen this woman not because of her looks, but because she gave him a very capable impression, plus her medical skills were excellent, and she happened to be a surgeon formerly affiliated with Memorial General Hospital, so Ron chose her.

As for women with strong personalities, they were even easier to deal with. It was nothing more than a bit of extra energy for Ron, and with his natural stamina, he could handle it easily.

Except for Caroline, who was a bit more challenging to deal with.

"Explain to me again, how can something I spent three thousand dollars on a few years ago be worth less than a small toy with dipping sauce?"

As soon as Ron walked in, he saw Caroline slam a plate against the kitchen window. The people around them were already used to it. Fortunately, the plate was made of plastic, otherwise Han's small restaurant would have incurred a considerable monthly expense in tableware alone.

"The little princess is just throwing a tantrum again. She had a yard sale today, hoping to sell her stuff, but she didn't sell a single thing."

Max turned to Caroline. "Because Happy Meal toys evoke fond memories of the past, a time before social media influencers."

"But my McDonald's toy is being offered for twenty dollars. I guess your little princess is jealous," Max said, turning back to Ron. He chatted with the two of them without interrupting his work.

Caroline paled in comparison. If Ron were the boss, he definitely wouldn't hire her. Perhaps, as Han said, it was just for good luck?

"I repeat, I'm not jealous. I just don't understand why a pair of three thousand dollar high heels can't compare to those free toys that come with the meal!"

"It's perfectly normal for secondhand luxury goods to lose value. By contrast, items with special meaning and commemorative value tend to get more valuable over time," Ron consoled. "Just like I never understood how the comic books my buddy kept in his safety deposit box could be worth as much as a Porsche."

"Really?" Caroline's mood finally brightened after hearing Ron's reassurance.

"Of course it's true," Ron was about to say something else when the boss, Han, walked in with a file folder.

"Attention, attention, I have an important document to disclose,"

Max teased. "Does your DNA test report confirm that your mother is Korean and your father is a garden gnome?"

"No, we got the rating from the city health inspection office," Han fumbled through the file folder and pulled out a "B" grade card.

"Wow~ We got a B," Max cheered, "This is the first time in my life that I got a 'B' without having to make out with someone."

"No, no, no, it's just a 'B'. I'm going to call that woman named Jane Lotro to argue with her!" Han yelled angrily.

"No, buddy, I don't think you should argue with her. I have a plan. It'll cost you a little time and effort, and you can get an A. Wanna try it?" Ron said with a sly grin.

Last week, Ron was present during Han's restaurant health inspection. It was the first time Ron dared to actually eat something cooked in the kitchen without Max making it specially for him.

Because, at Han's insistence, the usually slovenly chef Oleg finally took a proper shower, instead of his usual deodorant-masking habit of not showering for a month.

He also trimmed his nails, put on a hairnet, and even covered his beard with a sanitary plastic bag, dressing like he was going into a sterile laboratory. Finally, Ron could stop wondering what his hands had touched before cooking.

"What's the plan? Do you have a friend at the Health Department who can help me change my rating? How much of a bribe do I need to pay?" Han's eyes lit up, and he leaned forward, looking like a completely shrewd businessman.

"It won't cost you a penny," Ron said, looking Han over from head to toe. "It might cost a few dozen dollars to get you a new outfit, but don't worry, it'll still fit you even when you finally hit your growth spurt."

"Hey! I'm an adult, stop treating me like a kid!" Han muttered in dissatisfaction.

"Okay, okay, then, do you still want to know my solution?"

"Of course I do, tell me." At Ron's prompt, Han quickly put aside his anger.

Ron didn't keep him in suspense: "All you have to do is dress nicely and ask that female inspector out for dinner or a movie."

"Is it really that simple?" Han said in disbelief.

"Of course not..."

"I figured," Han said disappointedly. "What else?"

"And you need this."

Han felt Ron shove two small packages into his hands and press them down hard. He quickly looked down to see what Ron was giving him.

But when he really saw what was in his hand, he was shocked: "Oh my God! How could you give me something like that in public?!"

Han's face flushed red with embarrassment.

Max laughed: "Hahaha, you don't know how to use those, do you?"

"Of course I don't know!" Han quickly retorted: "I just... just..."

"Don't worry, little guy, that woman will definitely be impressed," Ron patted him on the shoulder. "As long as you can satisfy her expectations in other ways, I believe she will not refuse your small request."
