Chapter 262: Stan Lee
After being dressed up by Caroline and Max, Han set off with a feeling of trepidation.
Even after the makeover, Han still didn't seem to have grown even a centimeter taller, but with eight insoles stuffed into each shoe, he looked at least two inches taller than before.
"Ron, I didn't know you could do this. When would you need such a trick with your height? Are you going to use this to flirt with the girls on the women's basketball team?" Caroline asked with a hint of jealousy after sending Han away.
"I'm not interested in sweaty muscular women," Ron spread his hands. "It just so happens that I have a friend named Howard who always does this before going out on a date, so I learned it along the way."
"Oh? Really?" Caroline felt a little better. "Then do you want to join me today..."
"Let me interrupt you two." Just when the atmosphere was finally turning towards the romantic direction Ron wanted, Max interrupted at an inopportune time. "If you plan to play some intimate games, it's best to choose another day. Today we have to clean up the mess from the last yard sale and bake tomorrow's cupcakes. This will not be done in an hour or two."
"Well, that's a pity."
Ron felt that Max's mood was a little off, but in this case, he could only say sorry, then chat for a few words, say goodbye and leave.
He had a vague feeling that Max was jealous.
But then he thought about it and found it amusing. "How could that be? That's Max."
With that thought, Ron pushed open the apartment door. As expected, every member of the group was home, but around them was a sea of comics spread out on the floor.
"Hey, guys, are you finally going to sell these things, say goodbye to your childhood, and truly become adults?"
"No, I'm never selling them! Stan Lee's coming to the comic book store for a signing event, and we're trying to figure out which comics to get signed," Leonard retorted.
"I just can't decide. Should Stan Lee sign Thor's first appearance in Journey into Mystery #83, or Doctor Doom's debut in Fantastic Four #5?"
Rajesh playfully pressed a button on some device, and a melodic tune played from the gadget on his chest.
"I've decided to have Stan Lee sign this month's Batman," Sheldon said proudly, joining the conversation.
"I remember an old man told me once that Batman wasn't his creation, and coincidentally, that old man's name was Stan Lee," Ron said, opening a bottle of water and taking a swig.
"Yeah, that's why no one else would think to have him sign this. This way, I'll own a rare, albeit quirky, piece of memorabilia. From now on, I'm no longer on the same level as those ordinary comic fans."
"Great idea, that's brilliant! I'll have Stan Lee sign Batman, too." Rajesh immediately prepared to copy the idea.
"Is the word 'unique' hard for you to understand?" Sheldon glared at Rajesh in dissatisfaction.
"Hey! Hey! Hey! Wait!" Howard finally realized, "Ron, you mean you know Stan Lee?! Can you get him to sign a few for us? Sign several! I could even sell them to other comic book collectors."
Howard called out, and the other two nerds immediately gathered around him, making Ron the center of attention.
There's no way around it. For comic fans, knowing Stan Lee is like knowing a religious figure—he's a creator who built entire universes.
The difference is that religious figures created spiritual worlds, while Stan Lee exists in the real world but created fictional ones. From this perspective, both have their own significance.
But this doesn't diminish Stan Lee's status in the nerds' hearts.
"Of course, I met him once at a convention and we exchanged business cards," Ron said calmly, finding a comfortable spot on the sofa and saying in an exaggerated tone, "I've been working all day. I'm so tired..."
"Let me give you a massage!" Rajesh immediately circled behind Ron and massaged his shoulders.
India truly deserves recognition for yoga and massage techniques. Rajesh, skilled in the art, pressed a few times on Ron's shoulders, finding the pressure points and expertly working them. Ron groaned in pleasure. "Excellent, Rajesh, your technique is amazing. But if I could have some fried chicken and a Lone Star beer right now, it would be even better."
As soon as Ron finished speaking, Leonard and Howard raced towards the door. "I'll get it for you right now!"
In the end, Leonard, who was closer to the door, won, earning the privilege to buy Ron the fried chicken and beer.
Howard could only awkwardly move back in, pushing Rajesh aside. He grabbed Ron's other shoulder and began massaging it, imitating Rajesh's technique, his eyes focused intently.
Only Sheldon was still skeptical: "Ron, do you really know Stan Lee?"
"Of course, so now you don't plan to do something for your dear roommate? I can ask him to sign something for you~" Ron looked at Sheldon's doubtful expression and tempted him like a devil.
"No, it's impossible. This is definitely a trick you're going to play on me!" Sheldon said alertly: "Just like the time when I was ten years old. You lied to me that Batman would come to my birthday party, but when I walked into the garage, I just got pooped on by a bat!"
"You obviously misunderstood. I just told you that bats and people would come to the house. You mistook them for Batman. But the way you were covered in droppings was really funny. I still have that photo."
Ron laughed, and Sheldon was even more unconvinced.
"I won't do anything for you. Stan Lee will be at the comic book store for a signing event the day after tomorrow anyway, so it's the same if I ask him to sign something then."
"Sorry, I almost forgot to tell you that you shouldn't be able to go to the comic book store the day after tomorrow." Ron took out an envelope from his pocket with a mocking expression. Howard took it and said in surprise:
"Sheldon, how did you get a letter from the court?"
"It's normal. It should be the receipt of the complaint letter I sent them before. The flags at the courthouse are placed incorrectly. The correct order should be from left to right: the federal flag, the state flag, and finally the Pasadena city flag."
"Sheldon, this is a subpoena," Howard opened the envelope after getting Sheldon's permission: "You ran a red light on Lake Avenue, so you must appear in court the day after tomorrow morning, exactly when the comic book store event is being held."
