Chapter 3 - chapter 3: beginning a new hero

Yash was sitting on the bus, his eyes sparkling with excitement. For the very first time, he was traveling so far away from his village, heading towards the city. A new life awaited him, and he could feel the thrill in his chest.

A girl entered the bus and sat right next to him. She looked elegant but carried an air of arrogance around her. Yash, being friendly, tried to start a conversation, but no matter what he said, she barely responded. Her attitude made it clear that she wasn't interested, so Yash stayed quiet.

The journey was long, and soon night had fallen. The bus grew silent, most passengers either sleeping or lost in their thoughts. Suddenly, the driver slammed on the brakes. The bus swerved violently, losing control as it skidded dangerously towards a deep gorge. Screams of terror erupted inside.

But while everyone panicked, Yash quietly broke the back window, slipped outside, and in an instant—his hidden strength revealed itself. He grabbed the heavy bus with both hands and, straining with immense power, pulled it back from the edge. Slowly, he dragged it to a safe spot, and only then returned inside, blending in with the rest of the terrified passengers.

The driver, pale and shaking, said, "We… we survived. We're safe!" The passengers erupted in joy, hugging one another, relieved to be alive. Yash, too, smiled as if nothing had happened.

Once the bus started moving again, the conductor asked the driver why he had swerved so suddenly. The driver replied in a trembling voice, "I saw… I swear I saw a man—seven feet tall—with four arms—standing right in the middle of the road."

The conductor laughed it off, but the unease lingered.

Meanwhile, Yash tried to rest. But the girl beside him, the same one who had ignored him earlier, suddenly leaned closer and said, "Hey… where are you from? And why are you going to Raipur?"

Yash raised an eyebrow. "Did I hear that right? You finally decided to talk to me?"

Both of them laughed softly.

She introduced herself as Kamni, and Yash replied, "My name is Yashraj Tandan… but you can just call me Yash."

Kamni then asked, "So tell me… why exactly are you going to Raipur?"

Yash smiled. "Just for college."

Looking at his expression, Kamni teased him, "Oho… I see. Now you'll have to tell me your entire story. Don't even think of hiding anything!"

Yash hesitated at first, but when she reminded him, "We have the whole night. The bus will reach at 5 a.m.," he gave in. Slowly, he opened up. From his strange childhood, his memories, his powers, his parents—he told her everything.

At some point, Kamni dozed off, resting her head gently on Yash's shoulder. Yash carefully adjusted his hand to support her, and soon, he too drifted into sleep.

By 4 a.m., Kamni was awake again. She was silently recalling everything Yash had told her. Her stop came before Raipur, so she packed her things quietly. Before leaving, she turned, looked at the sleeping Yash, and—impulsively—kissed him on the cheek.

She thought he was asleep, but Yash's eyes opened just slightly. He had felt it. His body tensed, his heart pounding. Sweat broke out on his forehead—not because of fear, but because this feeling… this warmth… was something he had never experienced before.

As the bus moved on, Yash kept thinking: Why did she do that? We only just met…

But by sunrise, the bus finally reached Raipur. Yash stepped down, carrying not just his luggage, but also the memory of that one moment that would forever stay in his heart.
