Chapter 208: "Breaking the Sky" Becomes a Sensation!
Seeing the Fifth Hokage's ceremonial robes draped over Uchiha Fugaku's shoulders, Jiraiya's heart was filled with mixed emotions.
If his disciple Minato had not perished during the Nine-Tails' attack… perhaps Konoha would have reached this point of peace and prosperity much earlier.
In Jiraiya's eyes, Minato had been the perfect balance of strength and wisdom — brilliant in both politics and battle, steady yet compassionate. He had every quality a Hokage needed.
Konoha would have thrived under him.
But heaven is jealous of talent.
Minato Namikaze had died too young, leaving his dream unfinished.
Then a thought crossed Jiraiya's mind.
Minato had a son, didn't he?
He hadn't paid much attention before, but now that things in the village were settling, he felt a pang of guilt. Once Tsunade was done here, he decided, he'd ask about Minato's child — how he was doing, how old he was now, and whether anyone had cared for him properly.
---
Meanwhile, Fugaku sat calmly in his chair, not saying much. He trusted Tsunade completely.
His gaze, however, lingered on Karin.
Since Jiraiya was also proficient in the Five Elements and Eight Trigrams Sealing Techniques, sealing a subdued Eight-Tails shouldn't be a problem. Once Karin's mother had recovered, Fugaku planned to have Jiraiya seal the tailed beast into the girl's body.
After all, it was hardly practical to keep such a massive creature inside the village indefinitely.
---
The operating room door opened with a soft click.
Tsunade stepped out, white coat still on, her expression relaxed.
Karin immediately ran up, her voice trembling with anxiety.
"Miss Tsunade… how's my mother?"
Tsunade gave her a reassuring glance.
"She's fine. Just needs time to rest and recover. You don't have to worry."
Now that she finally had a moment to breathe, Tsunade couldn't help but feel curious.
Where on earth had Uchiha Fugaku found two surviving members of the Uzumaki Clan — and a mother and daughter, no less?
If these two settled in Konoha, the village would soon have new generations carrying Uzumaki blood. That was no small thing. The vitality and chakra reserves of that clan were second to none.
Tsunade, whose own grandmother hailed directly from the Uzumaki line, understood that better than anyone. And this woman — and her red-haired daughter — were unmistakably pure-blooded Uzumaki.
---
"Then… may I go see her?" Karin asked hesitantly.
Tsunade waved her hand casually. "Go ahead. Just don't wake her up — she needs rest."
"Okay!"
Karin nodded rapidly and hurried inside.
Tsunade's gaze turned toward Fugaku, her tone half-joking, half-serious.
"Fifth Hokage, you owe me another favor."
Fugaku met her eyes evenly.
"What do you want? Money?"
Tsunade shook her head immediately. "No. I've got more than enough of that now — thanks to the silver we 'collected' from the Hidden Cloud."
She smiled faintly. "Just remember you owe me. I'll decide what I want later."
Removing her gloves and coat, she added, "The patient's stable. I've given the medical team all the necessary instructions. I'll be heading out."
Her eyes flicked toward Jiraiya. "Come on. Let's go get another massage."
Jiraiya's face brightened. "Heh, lead the way."
The two Sannin walked out together, chatting as they went.
---
Fugaku approached the ward door and quietly pushed it open.
Inside, Karin knelt beside the bed, watching her mother intently but not daring to touch her.
The woman with dark crimson hair looked pale but peaceful. Her breathing was steady, her life no longer in danger.
Fugaku observed silently for a few moments, then closed the door with care.
Turning to Uchiha Yashiro, he said evenly,
"Yashiro, I'll have to trouble you a bit longer. Take care of this mother and daughter for the time being."
Yashiro bowed his head respectfully.
"Yes, Hokage-sama. Please leave it to me."
Fugaku nodded. "Good. That's all. I'll be leaving first."
There was no need to rush the Eight-Tails sealing. The girl had just arrived in Konoha. A week of rest would do her good — the beast wasn't going anywhere.
---
Seven days passed in a flash.
Under Nara Shikaku's deft political maneuvering, the uproar from Konoha's recent dismantling of the Fire Daimyō's regime had largely subsided.
The Land of Fire's citizens returned to their daily lives — but now, things were noticeably better.
The new Fifth Hokage had abolished an entire year of commercial and agricultural taxes, and with the Daimyō's greedy levies gone, the people's lives improved dramatically. For the first time in decades, there was genuine hope in the air.
---
Around the same time, a brand-new novel quietly appeared in bookstores across the Land of Fire.
Its title: Battle Through the Heavens.
It was unlike anything readers had ever seen — thrilling, full of twists and surprises, with such gripping pacing that once you started, you couldn't stop.
Within days of its release, it sold out everywhere. Its popularity even surpassed that of Icha Icha Paradise, the long-time best-seller.
The second printing vanished from shelves the moment it arrived. The book had become a sensation across the entire country.
And its author — none other than Uchiha Fugaku — was once again at the center of attention.
---
The royalties began pouring in like snowflakes, flooding into Konoha's coffers. But Fugaku hardly cared.
After seeing the treasure vault of the Fire Daimyō, a few hundred million ryō in royalties felt meaningless.
Still, writing the book had been a way to pass the time. During those quiet weeks of rebuilding, it had kept his mind sharp.
Now, however, Battle Through the Heavens had gone viral — not just in the Land of Fire, but in neighboring countries as well: the Lands of Rivers, Grass, Tea, and even faraway Demon Country.
Merchants carried copies everywhere. Within two weeks, it had become a continental phenomenon.
Even the most famous line from the book had caught on among young shinobi:
> "Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river — never look down on the poor youth of today."
---
In the Uchiha Clan compound, the courtyard of the Clan Head's home echoed with laughter.
Sasuke and Naruto were sparring again, rolling and wrestling on the ground.
"Jie jie jie jie jie!" Naruto cackled, hands on his hips, perfectly mimicking the villain from Battle Through the Heavens.
Sasuke facepalmed, sighing in exasperation.
"Naruto, can you please stop laughing like that? It's ridiculous."
Naruto ignored him and puffed out his chest proudly.
"Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river — don't bully a poor kid!"
Sasuke groaned. "Unbelievable…"
