Chapter 232 — The Plot Takes a Strange Turn

Everything in front of him was completely different from the Naruto storyline he remembered.

Which meant—

He had arrived in a world utterly unfamiliar to him.

His greatest advantage—knowing the future plot—might have just evaporated.

Uchiha Yota felt cold fear creep up his spine.

Sure, his identity was decent—he belonged to the prestigious Uchiha Clan—but the original owner of this body had been comatose for nearly a year. He hadn't even graduated as a genin, and he hadn't awakened the Sharingan.

Right now, he was completely useless.

And awakening the Sharingan was notoriously difficult.

It required witnessing a loved one or close friend being injured or dying right before your eyes, the emotional shock triggering the Uchiha's Bloodline Limit.

But in this peaceful Konoha Year 56, with no wars, how was he supposed to experience that?

The original owner's only remaining relative was his cheap mother, Uchiha Yoko—an ordinary clan member who never left the village and wasn't likely to encounter life-threatening danger.

As for friends?

Impossible. The original owner had been unconscious for a year. His old classmates had all moved on, and there were no bonds left that would trigger grief.

Even if one of those old friends died in front of him now… he wasn't sure he would feel anything at all.

Becoming stronger was going to be extremely difficult.

Originally, he could have relied on his knowledge of the original timeline, earning benefits along the way.

But now…

The plot had changed.

Uchiha Yota's scalp tingled.

It wasn't just a small deviation, either—this world's Naruto timeline had completely diverged somewhere in the past.

For example—

Uchiha Fugaku, who in the original story died at his son's blade on the night of the clan massacre, might have launched a successful coup, killed Sarutobi Hiruzen, and seized the Hokage's seat before the massacre ever occurred.

Honestly, aside from a coup, Yota couldn't imagine a single way Fugaku could have become Hokage.

Under the iron grip of the "Konoha Four Elders" led by Hiruzen, no one in the entire village dared support an Uchiha Hokage.

Fugaku's chances in the original timeline were zero.

After a whirlwind of thoughts, Yota swallowed hard and asked cautiously:

"Uncle… is our Clan Head, Uchiha Fugaku… the Fifth Hokage of Konoha?"

He said it slowly, pausing three times to make absolutely sure the uncle heard him clearly.

For the first time, Uchiha Kunihiko—who had been unresponsive earlier—actually lowered his head to look at him.

Kunihiko stared at Yota with disbelief written all over his face.

"You don't even know that?"

His tone was practically asking: Are you really an Uchiha?

Right now, everyone in the entire village—men, women, children—knew that the Hokage was the Uchiha Clan Head.

Then Kunihiko suddenly remembered: Yota had been in a coma for a full year.

The Clan Head had become Hokage during that time.

No wonder Yota didn't know.

Kunihiko's expression softened.

"Kid, this isn't something you need to worry about. When you get home, listen to your Kaa-san, rest well. The future of our Uchiha Clan depends on youngsters like you."

But Yota barely heard the lecture.

He already had the answer he needed.

Yes.

In this world, Uchiha Fugaku had not died. He had succeeded—in whatever method—to become the Fifth Hokage of Konoha.

The Fugaku of this world was on a completely different level.

Yota's eyes lit up in genuine admiration.

The Uchiha Clan had been boxed in for years by the elder council, smeared by public opinion, and pushed into a dead end.

And yet, Fugaku had broken through every obstacle, launched a coup, and risen to the Fifth Hokage's seat.

The difficulties he must have overcome…

This Fugaku was incredible.

Yota felt heartfelt respect.

It seemed this Naruto world wasn't fixed; it had branched into countless possible timelines.

Like he had reasoned earlier, this plane must have diverged at some crucial moment—like a tree growing a new branch—and the story had marched toward a completely unknown future.

And since Fugaku was Hokage, that meant the Uchiha massacre would likely never happen.

Yota finally calmed down, no longer frantic to storm into the Hokage Building.

Now, he was more curious:

How had Uchiha Fugaku fought fate and claimed the Hokage's seat?

Was Itachi still alive?

Had he defected?

Or had the massacre occurred, only to be resolved by Fugaku before he staged his coup?

His mind spun with questions.

Soon, led by Kunihiko, Yota arrived at the Uchiha compound.

As they passed through the gate, he saw his cheap mother—Uchiha Yoko—standing anxiously by the roadside.

"Sister-in-law, I've brought him back," Kunihiko said.

He firmly placed Yota's hand into Yoko's.

Yoko grabbed her son with both hands and bowed gratefully.

"Thank you, Brother Kunihiko. Truly."

Kunihiko sighed.

"If anything happens, come find me."

With that, he shook his head and left.

Uchiha Yoko watched him disappear before turning to her son.

"Yota, let's go home. Let's go."

Yota didn't resist. He quietly followed her.

After a few steps, he couldn't hold back anymore.

"Kaa-san… I want to ask you something."

"Go ahead. Whatever Kaa-san knows, she'll tell you."

Seeing her son so obedient made Yoko relax. The fright he gave her earlier had nearly paralyzed her.

"How did our Clan Head become Hokage?"

Yota asked eagerly.

Pride flickered across Yoko's face at the mention of the Clan Head. But after a moment of thought, she lowered her voice:

"It's not convenient to talk here. When we get home, Kaa-san will tell you everything."

"Alright."

Yota could only hold his curiosity in.

Fortunately, their house wasn't far from the gate. They reached it quickly.

Yoko closed the door immediately, still refusing to release Yota's hand—afraid he would run off again.

Thankfully, Yota seemed deeply focused on the Clan Head becoming Hokage, obedient and calm.

Yoko finally let out a long sigh of relief.
