I stilled, his words slowly sinking into my head. My eyes snapped to his, wide with disbelief. He didn't just say that to me. Did he? Certainly, Atlas would never disgrace me in the presence of her. I rested my palm on his, and he swiftly pulled away. I flinched at the abruptness, and once again, I met his gaze.
"You wouldn't throw me out because of her. You're joking, right?" I said with a fixed smile on my face. "Surely you are. How can you say such a thing to me, your Luna, in the presence of a total stranger?"
"I mean it, Sophia," Atlas answered through clenched teeth. His eyes narrowed, the slow creep of anger in them impossible to miss.
Unbelievable. How could he get mad at me just for saying the truth?
