Chapter 95 - we are not friends

I glanced over my shoulders for the third time as I felt eyes drilling holes through my back. It was that same intense feeling I get each time when something was about to go wrong.

But right now? I knew the only person who could be watching me was Elias. Atlas had made him do it. After all, I had left the room safely.

Safety? I snickered, my eyes fixated on elder Bernard but barely listening to what he was saying. I thought the room was a safe space until my stalker found me there. I had been outside countless times, and I'd say I was even safer than I was out here than inside.

Still, it wasn't entirely the reason I decided to leave. The competition was still going on. I wasn't done. I had yet to achieve what I had set for myself for the first time, so I decided to take part. 

"I've trained my whole life for this. I'm not losing to anyone."
