Amid the yellow sands of Afghanistan, an entire region was shrouded in a thick cloud of smoke and dust.
What had once been a base of hundreds of armed terrorists now held only a few survivors.
The ground, scorched and torn apart like after an artillery bombardment, was riddled with enormous trenches several meters wide.
Fragments of human flesh and bone were scattered everywhere, mingled with debris, turning the area into a scene straight out of hell.
At the center of that battlefield stood Bai Ye. He glanced down at his clothes—ripped apart by the force of his supersonic movements—and silently took out a new set from his dimensional space, calmly changing into them.
Having spent only a few seconds wiping out all the enemies in the area, Bai Ye turned his gaze toward a nearby cave.
He stepped forward lightly, and with a crack of the earth beneath his feet, leapt straight to the cave entrance and walked inside.
To avoid collapsing the tunnel, he had been careful not to fight too close earlier, so some guards within were still alive.
The thunderous explosions outside had already frightened those guards into panic; they rushed out to investigate the noise.
Bai Ye, unwilling to waste time explaining, raised his right hand and flicked his finger.
With that motion, the air itself seemed to freeze before exploding into a terrifying vacuum wave. Shaped and compressed by his internal energy, the projectile carried power not inferior to artillery fire.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Fist-sized blasts of condensed force slammed into the guards, easily piercing their flesh-and-blood bodies. Under the violent airflow, their torsos were torn apart mid-scream.
They never even saw Bai Ye's face—only a flash before they were reduced to nothing.
Any blood or debris that flew toward him was repelled by a thin barrier of inner energy.
Moving as if taking a casual stroll, Bai Ye advanced toward the surgery area, cutting through resistance like slicing through vegetables. His steps never slowed.
Soon, he stopped in front of a metal door, smiling faintly. He knocked twice and said, "Hello, Dr. Yinsen. You can stop the surgery now."
Inside, Yinsen had been wholly focused on saving his patient, while the assisting medics had frozen in terror at the sight of several mutilated bodies lying behind Bai Ye.
Yinsen slowly turned his head. Recognizing the man, his eyes widened.
"You came to save him? How do you know our names? I'm in the middle of operating on Mr. Stark—he's in critical condition. I need more time!"
"No need. I can save him. Thank you for your work so far," Bai Ye said politely, stepping forward.
Yinsen blinked. "You? Save him? You can perform surgery? The shrapnel is embedded near his heart, I was just about to—"
He fell silent.
Before he could finish, Bai Ye had placed his right hand on Tony Stark's shoulder.
A surge of purple energy flowed from Bai Ye's palm into Tony's body, instantly mapping out every piece of shrapnel lodged near his chest.
Moments later, the energy pulsed.
With a series of crisp metallic clinks, the fragments shot out of Tony's chest and clattered onto the floor.
"This… incredible," Yinsen murmured, speechless. He started to warn, "After removing the fragments, we need to stop the bleeding—"
But the words died on his lips.
Before his eyes, the open wound began closing at a speed visible to the naked eye. In seconds, the bleeding stopped, and the skin knit itself back together, leaving only a faint scar.
"The internal energy… it's that powerful? But your book never mentioned this!" Yinsen gasped.
"That's because what I practice isn't the same version you've learned," Bai Ye explained calmly.
He had already evolved Everyone Can Train to version 2.0—powerful enough to mimic the legendary Divine Illumination Sutra (Shenzhao Jing) from The Liancheng Manual.
According to that sutra, even someone who'd been hanged and lifeless for an hour could be revived. Saving an injured Tony Stark was nothing in comparison.
Though Bai Ye's current ability was only a simulation, it was more than enough.
Within moments, color returned to Tony's face; his pulse steadied.
The medics and Yinsen stood frozen, utterly shocked.
If such a technique became known, it would destroy the entire medical industry overnight—every pharmaceutical company would go bankrupt.
As Bai Ye looked at the recovering yet unconscious Tony Stark, and at the silent new member in the group chat, his suspicions were almost confirmed.
"Sir, what should we do next?" Yinsen asked.
Bai Ye thought for a moment, then said, "The terrorists outside are already dealt with. Go find a working vehicle—we'll head to the nearest U.S. air base."
He crossed his arms and added, pointing at the unconscious Stark, "Take a couple of people, grab a stretcher, and carry him along."
With that, Bai Ye turned and walked out of the cave.
Yinsen hurried after him.
As they stepped into the sunlight, Yinsen squinted at the sudden brightness.
Then he froze. The landscape before him looked as if a tornado and a missile strike had both hit—it was a wasteland of wreckage and destruction.
For a moment, he doubted whether any vehicle could still function here.
But to his surprise, a few hundred meters away, several cars had miraculously survived.
Ten minutes later, two vehicles carried the group toward the nearest U.S. Air Force base. They encountered no resistance along the way.
Before long, they arrived to find Colonel James Rhodes waiting with a group of soldiers at the gate.
"Thank you for saving Tony," Rhodes said sincerely. "General Ross just called and briefed me on your situation. Please, come inside and rest."
Bai Ye stepped out of the vehicle and nodded. "Stark's still unconscious, but he'll wake up soon. I have something important to discuss with him once he does."
———
Half an hour later, Tony Stark stirred, his mind clear as he woke from unconsciousness.
A calm male voice spoke from beside him:
"You're awake."
Startled, Tony turned his head—and saw a face he vaguely recognized.
Bai Ye looked at him expressionlessly.
"From this moment," Bai Ye said coldly, "you will not make any unnecessary movements. That includes reaching for the thing you're thinking about. If I see so much as a twitch… I'll pierce your heart instantly."
