Chapter 116 - Setting Traps for Each Other

At this moment, Bai Ye was openly revealing to Stark the cruelty of the world.

If you're a friend of mine, Bai Ye, then I don't care what crimes you commit. As long as you don't mess with me, I won't bother to lift a finger.

But if you're not my friend—when my other friends come to pick a fight with you, I won't just stand by.I might even help them beat you up when you try to fight back.

And you say this is a crime?

What nonsense. How could my friends ever commit crimes? They're just too young, too impulsive—killing people is just a game to them.

Hmm, after I kill you, I'll talk to them privately."This was really immature," I'll say.

"So," Bai Ye looked at Stark seriously, "make your choice.Do you want to offend me… or gain my friendship?"

"Remember—you only get one chance. If you don't choose me, I'll go to Obadiah and 'visit' your secretary."

A threat.A naked, unvarnished threat.

Facing Bai Ye's gentle smile, Stark clenched his teeth and said, "Fine. I'll agree."

"Good. You made the right choice," Bai Ye nodded with a satisfied smile, setting aside his earlier thought of having Professor X forcibly control Stark's mind.

After agreeing, Stark seemed to lose all his pride. He asked quietly, "So… what do I do next?"

"What else?" Bai Ye said. "Contact that so-called All-Knowing Immortal in the chat group. When he sends a message, repeat it aloud for me. I'll tell you what to reply—one line from him, one line from me."

Stark nodded and began repeating the messages from the All-Knowing Immortal's private chat:

[Hello, welcome to the chat group 'Smiling Emoji'.][If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I'm the admin, 'Smile'.][By the way, if you tell me your date of birth, age, and past experiences, I can predict your future.]

...

As Stark recited, Bai Ye raised an eyebrow. So this guy was using fortune-telling as an excuse to figure out what point in the story someone was at.

"Can this admin really predict my future?" Stark asked.

"He can predict shit," Bai Ye sneered. "He's just pretending to be mysterious after reading some movies, novels, and comics."

"What do you mean?" Stark frowned.

"In his eyes, your world—your past—is just a story called Marvel, a comic or a film," Bai Ye explained.

"That's impossible," Stark said in disbelief.

"What's impossible about it? The universe itself is finite, but the number of universes is infinite.Among countless infinite universes, anything that can exist, does exist."

"You've heard of the 'monkey and typewriter' theory, right?Even without true infinity—after a few Graham's numbers worth of random typing—there'll be monkeys who type out every literary masterpiece on Earth, word for word."

"As long as the probability isn't zero, it's a hundred percent in infinity. So if the multiverse contains every possible outcome, what's wrong with you or me existing as characters in a novel or comic?"

Hearing Bai Ye's reasoning, Stark finally understood—and felt strangely relieved. Then he realized something, looked back at Bai Ye, and asked, "Then how do you know that in his world, there's a comic about me?"

"Because I've read it too," Bai Ye admitted casually."That's why he's wary of me—afraid I'll expose his little act.Though, honestly, I was planning to play along and act like a fake god with him at first."

"Then what happens to me next in the comic?" Stark asked.

"Normally, if no one interferes," Bai Ye said calmly,"you'll become a superhero, go around punishing evil, marry your assistant, fight off alien invaders—and finally die."

"But if you keep talking nonsense, your next storyline will turn into a rated-18 version where you die, and your uncle and your assistant start playing poker at your funeral."

"Now hurry up."

...

Meanwhile, in another corner of the Apocalyptic World, the admin leaned back on his sofa, staring at the chat window that had stayed silent for a long time. His fingers tapped impatiently.

'Don't tell me he really got captured in Afghanistan…'

[Tony Stark]: Hello, I was kidnapped by armed militants in Afghanistan just now. I finally have time to check this chat group.

'He replied! So he really was captured in Afghanistan.'The admin's eyes lit up.

[All-Knowing Immortal]: That's fine. Judging by your situation, things seem pretty dire. If you need help, you can ask me anytime.

[Tony Stark]: No need for now. I already have an escape plan.I'm planning to use the materials they gave me to build a small Arc Reactor to power a steel battle suit.

In reality, Stark looked up at Bai Ye and asked, "Didn't you say you were going to lure him out? Why are you making me talk about building an Arc Reactor?"

"What's the rush?" Bai Ye said calmly. "You have to keep your arrogant persona.Don't let him suspect anything. No one would trust a stranger instantly.Leave him hanging for a few days—let him drop his guard."

In the private chat, the admin nodded to himself as he read the message. As expected, this Tony Stark matched his impression—too proud to bow his head so easily.

'No problem,' he thought. 'I'll let him stew for a month. When Yinsen is about to die according to the plot, he'll come begging me for help.'

[All-Knowing Immortal]: Fine, since you have a plan, I won't interfere.

Bai Ye said, "For the next few days, use building the Arc Reactor as an excuse.Just lurk in the group, don't join discussions.Ten days from now, at this location—wait for me there."

"Ten days?" Stark blinked. He didn't expect Bai Ye's fishing game to take this long.

"Before then, do whatever you want. I won't interfere," Bai Ye said calmly, then turned to leave.

"Hey, you're just leaving like that? Why not take me back to New York while you're at it?" Stark shouted after him as Bai Ye's figure faded into the distance.

"Go back yourself," Bai Ye said without turning around."I'm heading to the Himalayas near Nepal to visit a friend."

With a loud boom, he shot into the sky and vanished from Stark's sight.

"Himalayas?" Stark muttered blankly.

Meanwhile, Bai Ye soared through the roaring air currents toward the mountain ranges deep within Nepal.

Since Afghanistan wasn't too far, it was only natural for him to make a side trip to Kamar-Taj.

He had always been curious about one thing—how the Ancient One, the sorcerer who possessed the Time Stone, would react to him.

But just as Bai Ye took off, a huge circular portal flared open before him—its rim bursting with brilliant, orange sparks.

And on the other side of that glowing ring,a bald woman with a gentle smile sat quietly on a stool, watching him.
