Chapter 117 - Gu Yi’s Speculation

"Gu Yi?"

High above the sky, beneath the crystal-blue clouds, an orange-gold ring of sparks hovered in front of Bai Ye.

Through the fiery portal, Bai Ye could see a completely different scene within — a wooden attic furnished with tables, chairs, teacups, and teapots, all neatly arranged.

And sitting casually in one of those chairs was Gu Yi, looking at him with a… gentle, almost motherly gaze.

"Ugh, that look is disgusting."A chill ran down Bai Ye's spine under her eyes, and he felt an instinctive sense of discomfort.

Without hesitation, Bai Ye stepped onto the air itself, walking forward step by step toward the glowing ring.

"To open the Sling Ring portal before I even arrived… this kind of foresight — so, she's been aware of my presence all along?" Bai Ye thought silently.

"But how much does she really know about me? The system panel? The chat group? Dealing with someone who manipulates time is always troublesome — who knows how many times she's already rewound the timeline?"

He recalled how, in Infinity War, Doctor Strange had used the Time Stone to glimpse 14 million possible futures in mere moments. That was what made this situation tricky.

Passing through the portal, Bai Ye sat down opposite Gu Yi as if he owned the place. The table between them held a full tea set, steam gently rising from the spout.

Pouring himself a cup without asking, Bai Ye asked casually,"So, how much do you already know?"

"Only a small, but very crucial, portion." Gu Yi replied calmly. "After choosing you, as a form of respect, I haven't peered into the future more than necessary to gather information."

As expected. Bai Ye nodded inwardly. Not a bad sign — it seemed he'd be taking on the role that Doctor Strange had in the original timeline.

"No problem. Then I won't ask why you chose me," Bai Ye said, a confident smile tugging at his lips. "After all, my talent is exceptional — it's only natural that you'd pick me."

Gu Yi smiled faintly and nodded without objection.

"I've got a few questions," Bai Ye continued. "First — about my constitution. How much do you know?"

That was his main reason for coming to Kamar-Taj — to use Gu Yi's mastery over time to probe the limits of his mysterious body.

"As you probably suspect," Gu Yi said, "you possess a body that can grow infinitely stronger. Even death cannot stop that growth."

"But right now, the most important thing for you," she continued, "is maintaining balance across your attributes. At your current rate of strengthening, if you keep raising one stat while neglecting others, your own punch could one day shatter your body apart."

Bai Ye's expression shifted slightly. She was right — he had already begun to notice the imbalance in his stats.

"My second question," Bai Ye said, "you should also know about the attribute panel and the chat group, right?"

Gu Yi nodded slowly. "I've heard your split selves in other timelines mention them. But it turns out — these things belong only to you in this timeline."

"You mean," Bai Ye mused, "the system panel and chat group are unique across the entire multiverse?"

Gu Yi nodded again. "Exactly. No matter how many times the timelines branch or split, the panel and chat group remain bound to you. Even with the Time Stone, I can't observe a future where you don't have them."

"In all the infinite universes where past and future versions of Bai Ye exist, this attribute panel acts as your proof of identity. Perhaps only the one who possesses it — you — can be called the true Bai Ye. All others are merely fragmented selves."

"So I'm the special one."Bai Ye looked at the system panel in his vision, murmuring to himself — then his lips curved into a faint smile."That's how it should be. The one with all of this — I'm naturally the most special, the strongest me."

"You should understand the structure of our universe," Gu Yi said with a serene smile. "In our world, the past, present, and future coexist simultaneously."

"And right now, among all possible universes, you — the one with the attribute panel — are growing faster than any other version of yourself."

"Hey, hey, hey… that sounds like you're buttering me up just to send me to my death," Bai Ye said, forcing down the grin tugging at his lips. "Also, how do you even know so much? The Time Stone should only show what happens in your own timeline."

"Because not long ago, I also came into contact with the Space Stone."

As she spoke, Gu Yi raised her hand, and a glowing blue cube floated above her palm.

"With both the Time and Space Stones," she explained, "I can communicate with versions of myself in other universes who also hold these two Stones. It's a sort of… alternative chat group, if you will."

Good grief — she's even playing around with the Space Stone now?The corner of Bai Ye's mouth twitched. What kind of messed-up timeline is this?

"After discussing with my counterparts in those universes," Gu Yi said seriously, "we've come up with several theories about your attribute panel. And if our guesses are right… then what you possess is utterly terrifying."

"What kind of theories?" Bai Ye asked.

Gu Yi's expression turned solemn. "First — have you ever died?"

"Of course not. At least, not the me in this universe," Bai Ye said, rolling his eyes. He raised his teacup and downed it in one gulp.

"According to what you've said," Gu Yi continued, "when your attributes increase, your state resets to its peak condition. That's something no one without the panel could ever do."

"In other words — any injury or pain you suffer, any kind of harm at all, can be converted into a boost to your stats. To put it simply — you can grow stronger through repeated self-torment."

"But what would happen," Gu Yi said, her tone sharpening, "if one day your HP bar exceeds your EXP bar?"

Her question left Bai Ye silent.

It was easy enough to grasp what she meant: if growing stronger required pain, then both HP and EXP could be seen as measurable quantities.

For example — say Bai Ye had 1.1 million HP. Losing 100,000 HP might grant him +0.1 in an attribute.

Since his healing factor allowed him to recover constantly, he could keep hurting and healing himself — dropping from 1.1 million HP to 100,000, then regenerating back again.

Repeat that a hundred times, and he'd gain +0.1 attribute.

But what if, someday, Bai Ye's HP reached 100 million, and he only needed 90 million EXP to level up?

Imagine him facing an enemy far stronger — someone whose single attack dealt 2 billion damage.

When that strike reduced Bai Ye's HP to 10 million, his EXP bar would instantly fill, his attributes rising by +0.1.

And once that happened, his body would refresh, instantly restoring his HP to full — this time up to 200 million — and his power would soar even higher.

Meaning… the opponent would be facing an enemy who could never die, and would only grow infinitely stronger the more they tried to kill him.
