Chapter 84 - Earthlings vs. Asgard's Complaining King

Loki was held in the transparent cage of the Helicarrier, this sturdy sealed chamber designed to be impregnable, surrounded on all sides by reinforced glass as if to imprison him completely, ensuring he could not escape.

Just as he was closing his eyes to rest and wait for his opportunity, a steady sound of footsteps broke the silence, followed by the appearance of Nick Fury before him.

Loki opened his eyes, the corners of his mouth slightly curled with a hint of cold mockery as he looked at him: "Oh, the one-eyed jailer has arrived.

I assume you are Nick Fury?

I must say, you Earth 'Guardians' are quite good at finding trouble for yourselves."

Nick looked back at him coldly, his voice steady: "Loki, don't try any tricks here.

You're just staying here temporarily, no need to feel at home."

Loki smiled slightly, as if he had heard a tremendous joke, "Staying here?

Oh, you are absolutely right, Fury.

I certainly don't feel comfortable, after all - being stared at by a bunch of mortals, this is truly an unbearable humiliation."

He lightly tapped the glass of the cage, asking with a deliberately provocative tone, "Are you just going to keep me locked up like this?

Isn't that a bit too arrogant?

I won't always be a clown, meekly at your mercy."

Nick snorted coldly, his arms crossed over his chest, retorting without weakness: "Then stay put, Loki.

You should thank me for not throwing you somewhere darker."

Loki raised an eyebrow, looking at him with a sarcastic smile: "Thank?

I don't recall mortals being qualified to receive thanks from a god.

Fury, you are truly overly confident... or perhaps, overly foolish?

The fate of all the 'heroes' on Earth is in my hands, not yours."

Nick sneered, not hiding his disdain: "Your so-called god's fate?

Don't be so self-absorbed, Loki.

Earth is not your Asgard's plaything; no one here considers you a god, at most a troublesome passerby."

Loki's smile deepened, as if gaining some pleasure from Nick's indifference, "Very well, Fury, your words have made me see clearly - Earthlings are indeed pathetic and foolish.

You attempt to confine me here, yet cannot escape the coming destiny... because I am the master of destiny."

Nick stared at him, saying coldly: "Continue to wallow in your delusions, Loki.

Everyone here can handle you, don't think you're so great."

Loki gently shook his head, looking at Nick with a playful smile: "Is that so?

Then please do, one-eyed snake head.

However, you and your Avengers will be devoured by your own foolishness."

Nick gave him one last cold glance, turned and left, no longer paying attention to Loki's provocation.

Soon after, Dr. Banner appeared in front of the cell, gazing at Loki with a somewhat wary expression.

As soon as Loki saw him, a cunning glint flashed in his eyes, and he revealed a mocking smile.

Loki spoke first, with a hint of probing in his tone: "Dr. Bruce Banner... you have indeed come yourself.

Hawkeye mentioned you; he described you... as not an ordinary person."

Banner frowned slightly, his voice filled with caution: "Loki, I don't care what you say; we're here to stop your plan."

Loki smiled lightly, his tone sinister: "Stop me?

Do you know how your companions see you?

Especially that... Iron Man.

I heard he has a 'different opinion' of your 'green monster'."

Banner snorted coldly, unmoved: "You won't sow discord between us, Loki.

Our team is built on trust."

Loki sneered, shaking his head: "Oh?

Trust?

Among you, who truly believes you can control your... other side?

In front of the Iron Armor, you are merely a 'dangerous item' that could explode at any time.

Would Tony Stark take that risk for you?"

Banner's eyes flickered slightly, then he answered firmly: "I know they wouldn't see me that way.

You're just trying to sow discord, Loki."

Loki shrugged lightly, as if indifferent: "Is that so?

You're not even sure yourself, are you?

Perhaps... they are indeed afraid of you, even worried that you might turn into that uncontrollable Beast at any moment."

He spoke with a hint of instigation in his tone, "You know, fear and trust are always a pair of contradictions that cannot coexist.

Your Avengers are just a fragile patchwork."

Banner was silent for a moment, still trying to remain calm, but Loki's words seemed to have planted a seed of doubt in his heart.

Loki smiled slightly, and whispered mockingly: "Someone will always understand, Doctor.

And then, you will know that the so-called 'hero alliance' is just an absurd performance."

As soon as Dr. Banner walked out of Loki's cell, he was lost in thought, walking with his head down.

At this moment, Coulson walked towards him, and seeing Banner looking somewhat preoccupied, he smiled and greeted him with concern in his voice: "Hey, Dr. Banner, is everything okay?

Seeing Loki seems a bit... heavy?"

Upon hearing his voice, Banner immediately put away that subtle expression, forced a smile, and answered as lightly as possible: "Ah, nothing, just... talking to a villain who claims to be a god is a little unpleasant.

He knows how to provoke with words."

Coulson nodded, understandingly smiled, and his tone remained relaxed: "Indeed, Loki is a special challenge.

However, don't take what he says to heart; his goal is to provoke us."

After speaking, he nodded to Banner and watched him walk away, a hint of worry flashing in his eyes.

Coulson then walked with firm steps towards Loki's cell, came to the glass barrier, and looked down at Loki.

Loki was sitting leisurely in the center of the cage, a meaningful smile on his face, as if waiting for his arrival.

"Agent Coulson, it is indeed you."

Loki lightly raised his eyebrows, his tone full of mockery, "Did you come specifically to see the prisoners of these so-called 'heroes' on Earth?

Or perhaps... you also want to get some special 'inspiration' from me?"

Coulson was unmoved, just calmly looking at Loki, his hands in his pockets, his tone indifferent: "I just came to make sure everything is in order.

You are our current 'special guest', so naturally, you need to be properly watched."

Loki let out a cold laugh, as if greatly interested in his words: "Special guest?

You Earthlings are truly amusing, treating enemies as honored guests and so-called 'partners' as tools.

Don't you think this so-called 'hero alliance' is just a fragile play?"

Coulson crossed his arms over his chest, his tone firm: "No matter what you think, Loki, the foundation of our alliance is not as fragile as you imagine.

We trust each other, and that is something you will never understand."

Loki scoffed, shaking his head slightly: "Trust?

Oh, Coulson, your words truly amuse me.

Trust is the easiest emotion to break; humanity has lingered in its inherent depravity for thousands of years, and even now, it is merely the evolution of mutual slaughter.

Do you really think a team can be impregnable because of 'trust'?"

Coulson answered calmly: "Our trust is stronger than you think, Loki.

You cannot easily divide us."

Loki chuckled lightly, a hint of cold light in his eyes, as if seeing through Coulson's conviction through the cage: "Is that so?

Then let's wait and see.

I don't need any physical weapons - you yourselves are the most terrifying weapons.

Doubt, hatred, fear... these are deeply rooted in the hearts of you humans.

I only need to lightly pluck a few strings, and I can see how you self-destruct."

Coulson frowned slightly, his tone tinged with sarcasm: "To be honest, Loki, perhaps you underestimate our loyalty to each other.

You are here, no matter how much you provoke, you can only watch us dismantle your plan."

A glimmer of conspiracy flickered in Loki's eyes, and he said slowly: "Then I am curious - if there is a sacrifice, if a certain hero unexpectedly falls, will you still be able to maintain your so-called 'trust'?"

He lightly crooked his finger, his voice low and malicious, "What do you think... Banner's 'green friend' will react to this 'accident'?"

Coulson was silent for a moment, his brow furrowed slightly, but he quickly regained his composure: "Even if someone sacrifices, we will stand united against a threat like you."

Loki showed a cunning smile, his eyes full of playfulness: "Unity?

Interesting word.

But in my eyes, Banner only needs a little stimulation, and that angry Hulk will become an uncontrollable monster, tearing you all to shreds one by one.

Perhaps your death is the best trigger for all of this."

His smile gradually widened, as if seeing Coulson's fate, "Like lighting a fuse, you will become the first casualty of the Avengers, and I only need to sit here and enjoy watching you being consumed by rage."

Coulson stared at him coldly, retorting with disdain: "You are truly naive, thinking our alliance will fall apart because of sacrifice?

You don't understand us, Loki."

Loki slightly narrowed his eyes, shaking his head gently, as if Coulson was the ignorant one: "No, I understand you, more than you can imagine.

Human trust is always fragile; once someone loses their life, all that remains is anger and chaos.

And you 'heroes'... are merely arrogant fools."

Coulson looked at Loki calmly, trying his best not to let the other party's provocation affect him.

He smiled slightly, and said coldly: "Then let's see whose plan is better."

After speaking, he turned and left the cell, no longer giving Loki any chance to continue his provocation.

Loki watched Coulson's retreating back, a sinister smile rising at the corner of his mouth, and muttered to himself: "Don't worry, mortal.

Your end is already decided, it's just a matter of time... and your sacrifice is the most perfect 'fuel'."
