Coulson's convoy sped into the laboratory entrance, the tires screeching and leaving a long black mark on the ground. He slammed on the brakes, quickly jumped out of the car, and several Agents followed closely behind, weapons drawn and in a state of high alert. Outside the laboratory, the lights were particularly dazzling in the night. Helen Cho walked out of the laboratory entrance, a trace of fatigue on her face, but her eyes were still clear.
"Phil Coulson?" After confirming the visitor, Helen Cho pushed up the glasses on the bridge of her nose and asked with a hint of confusion, "You are—?"
"Doctor Cho, we are here to protect you," Coulson said while quickly scanning the surroundings. After confirming there were no suspicious movements, he looked at her with determination, "Ultron knows about your research, he wants your Cradle technology. We must transfer you immediately to ensure your safety."
Helen Cho nodded, her tone calm but serious: "I heard you mention it on the phone. I understand, give me two minutes to prepare some key data."
"There are no two minutes," Coulson's tone held a hint of urgency, "Ultron could find this place at any moment. Take the most important things and come with us now."
Helen Cho sighed softly, turned back into the laboratory, quickly grabbed a small bag containing a portable hard drive, and was just about to speak when the entire laboratory suddenly shook violently. Accompanied by a huge roar, a wall was directly blown open, and fire and smoke filled the air.
From the smoke, five Iron Armor walked out step by step. Leading them was Ultron, his eyes emitting red light, and his voice echoed coldly in the laboratory: "Doctor Cho, I've come to ask for your help."
"Cover!" Coulson immediately shouted, and several Agents quickly raised their weapons and fired at Ultron and his mechanical armor. The bullets hit Ultron's shell, only creating a shower of sparks, not even leaving a scratch.
Ultron sneered, raised his arm, and a blue energy surged in his palm, directly knocking the Agents in the front row backward. His voice carried the indifference unique to machinery: "Human weapons are truly... boring."
Coulson shouted from behind cover: "Second group, flank from the left! Third group, cover the doctor's retreat!"
The battle instantly became white-hot. The Agents covered Helen Cho's retreat while struggling to resist the attack of the Iron Armor. The dense exchange of fire turned the entire laboratory into a battlefield, with sparks flying and debris scattering.
However, just as the situation seemed slightly advantageous, Ultron drew the Mind Stone from behind him, smiled coldly, and injected energy into it, attempting to activate its control ability. But his movements suddenly stiffened, and the flashing light of the scepter seemed not to fully obey his will. He frowned, trying to adjust the energy flow, but found that the power of the Mind Stone was not a perfect fit for his mechanical self.
Coulson keenly noticed this, a cold smile appearing at the corner of his mouth: "What's wrong, Ultron? Does your 'perfection' also have flaws?"
A hint of anger flashed in Ultron's red eyes, and he growled: "Do you think this can stop me?" He quickly converted the scepter's energy into electricity, releasing a strong electromagnetic pulse. The Agents' communication devices instantly malfunctioned, and several Agents were directly knocked down by the electric shock.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Ultron controlled four armor to pounce forward, surrounding Coulson and Helen Cho. He said coldly: "Doctor Cho, I only need your technology. Uncooperative humans will only become obstacles."
Coulson gritted his teeth, tightening his grip on his weapon: "If you think this trick can make us yield, then you underestimate human resilience."
Ultron chuckled, his tone full of sarcasm: "Resilience? Can your resilience compare to this steel?" As he spoke, he pointed the scepter at the fallen Agents, and with a gentle wave, the scepter's blue light bound their limbs. He said in a chilling tone: "Doctor Cho, I can give you two choices. Either come and help me, or watch these people be crushed."
A flicker of hesitation flashed in Helen Cho's eyes. She turned to look at Coulson: "If I go over..."
"Don't go over!" Coulson's voice was resolute, his eyes showing uncompromising determination, "He won't let you go."
Ultron interrupted impatiently: "Time is limited, Doctor Cho. Make a decision."
Helen Cho took a deep breath and finally walked forward: "Okay, I'll go with you. But you must let them go."
Ultron smiled with satisfaction: "Smart people always know what to do."
Coulson's eyes widened in anger, but he was firmly suppressed by the Iron Armor, able only to watch as Helen Cho was taken away. His lips trembled, and he said in a low voice: "This is not the end."
Ultron stood in the center of the laboratory, mechanical devices constructed with Cradle technology wrapped around him. Blue energy streams wound and flowed beside him, emitting a faint but clear hum. An armor slowly walked out from the corner, its movements stiff and mechanical. Ultron's gaze was fixed on Helen Cho, his tone carrying a clear warning: "Doctor Cho, I advise you not to play any clever tricks. Your intelligence should be used in the right place, not wasted on foolish resistance."
Helen Cho stood in front of the control console, her hands trembling slightly, a layer of cold sweat seeping from her palms. She took a deep breath, calmed her emotions, and said in a calm yet firm voice: "As long as you can guarantee not to kill innocent people indiscriminately, I will assist in completing this project."
Ultron chuckled, his smile filled with coldness and contempt: "Not killing innocent people indiscriminately? Doctor Cho, do you know? I actually really appreciate this contradictory psychology of humans. On the one hand, they create war and destruction; on the other hand, they try to restrain their methods with morality."
Helen Cho was not angered by his words. She raised her head and looked directly into Ultron's glowing mechanical eyes: "Appreciation is appreciation, but my condition is clear. If you cannot guarantee it, I can terminate this project at any time."
Ultron's gaze softened slightly, and he nodded, pretending to compromise: "Okay, I promise you, no indiscriminate killing of innocent people—at least not in this laboratory." His tone was full of sarcasm and mockery, as if playing a language game.
Helen Cho turned and walked towards the Cradle. Her hands tapped quickly on the keyboard, the commands taking effect line by line, and the instruments began to operate. Ultron slowly walked to the Cradle, looking down at the gradually forming mechanical body inside, his tone gaining a hint of satisfaction: "Perfect... This is the form I should have. Once this body is complete, the Avengers will be nothing but a group of powerless mortals."
Helen Cho didn't respond, just focused on the console screen, but her tone held a hint of cold sarcasm: "Then what do you think the Avengers are for? Every step they take is to stop people like you. Do you really think a new body can solve everything?"
Ultron's eyes deepened, and he lowered his head slightly, his voice carrying an almost imperceptible softness: "Doctor Cho, I can see that you don't completely believe me, but that's okay. When I defeat the Avengers and control this World, I believe you will understand my true intentions."
Helen Cho sneered and replied without lifting her head: "We'll see about that."
Ultron didn't press further. His gaze fell back on the Cradle, and he murmured softly: "Dominic... he is the only variable. The Avengers are just stepping stones, and he is my final challenge. An opponent who can truly test the value of my existence..."
Helen Cho's fingers paused, but she didn't look up: "As far as I know, he has left Earth. After the New York War, we all know this Universe is not alone. He may have already gone elsewhere and is no longer concerned with this place."
Ultron shook his head slightly, his tone carrying a cold certainty: "No, he will come back. Humans are always creatures who long for home, no matter how strong they are, the sense of belonging in their hearts can never be erased. I need to become stronger, before he returns... perfect to the point of being flawless."
"Think whatever you want," Helen Cho's voice was indifferent, as if she didn't want to argue with him anymore.
Two hours later, the equipment in the laboratory emitted a low roar, and the mechanical body in the Cradle was finally fully formed. Ultron stood beside the device, slightly raising his hand, and blue energy flowed into the body. Accompanied by a dazzling light, his consciousness gradually transferred to the new body.
The entire laboratory suddenly fell silent, only the hum of the instruments operating echoed in the air. A few seconds later, Ultron slowly opened his eyes. His new body made a slight metallic friction sound, its movements as fluid as an organic life form. He looked down at his hands, a dangerous light flashing in his eyes: "Powerful... This technology has finally allowed me to complete true evolution."
Helen Cho stood to the side, silently observing his every move. Ultron's voice sounded again: "Vibranium... is my next plan. Once I obtain Vibranium, I will go to Sokovia to upgrade. By then, the entire Earth will tremble at my existence."
Helen Cho's brow furrowed slightly, and she said in a low voice: "I hope your 'evolution' won't destroy everyone."
