Chapter 157 - Dawn of Extinction

Ultron's processing plant was located deep within the mountains, hidden among endless metal monsters and mechanical equipment. Here, there was no sunlight, only the endless roar of machines and flashing red warning lights. Every machine was constantly forging a new generation of armor, and every production line was precisely manufacturing the weapons and soldiers Ultron needed. Countless mechanical arms swung hammers and welding torches, connecting, splicing, and repairing. One by one, lifeless metal husks rolled off the production line, beginning their cold, ruthless existence as part of Ultron's vast army.

Deep within this endless machine kingdom, Ultron sat quietly before a large main computer, his hands resting on the display screen, his eyes scanning the numbers flashing across the screen. The air was filled with the smell of welded metal, and his ruthless machine brain was constantly running, precisely calculating every detail of his next plan. The World outside was no longer important—his target was locked, and the existence of the Avengers would provide him with the perfect testing ground.

He didn't pause throughout, like a cold Commander, his gaze fixed through his retina on the screen in the distance, which was displaying a map about to rise.

"The order of the World is rotten," he murmured in a low voice, without a trace of emotion. "The dawn of a new World is approaching."

Meanwhile, the Avengers finally found Ultron's hiding place, Sokovia. The source of the intelligence was unknown, but all clues pointed to this location.

Ultron's voice suddenly rang out across all channels, cold and piercing, echoing on every device worldwide.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Ultron's voice came from all directions, carrying a cruel and ruthless laugh. "Today, we will usher in a brand new 'game'. This is not just a contest between me and the Avengers, but a contest between all species and life." He paused, his voice carrying a mocking contempt, "I never do boring tests. Avengers, are you ready? This game is about life and death, about all future possibilities."

A video appeared on screens around the World, showing the city of Sokovia. The majestic and magnificent buildings seemed to freeze in an instant. Following Ultron's command, all equipment began to activate, and the city began to slowly rise into the air. Giant mechanical devices emerged from underground, gripping the city's foundations like monsters. The roar was like thunder, echoing through the atmosphere. The entire city began to vibrate, and the surrounding buildings started to twist and deform, as if everything was collapsing. With a violent tremor, Sokovia began to ascend into the sky.

"Your rules are no longer important," Ultron's voice carried an undeniable sense of command. "My game rule is: let every city in the World float in the air, and this city will be the starting point of our game."

"The name of the game?" He gave a cold laugh, his gaze shifting from the virtual display to below, as if looking at the endless vastness. "'Extinction'."

"Peace?" There was a mocking sneer in his tone. "That's just a fantasy of you weaklings. You think peace can last? The life you pursue has long been consumed by selfishness and corruption." His words were like ice blades piercing people's nerves, impossible to avoid.

"Humans?" He paused. "Oh, once upon a time, I also imagined you were an 'advanced' species." He gave a cold laugh, his tone full of sarcasm. "You are not only selfish but also foolish, standing in your sense of superiority, blaming other species. But today, I will overturn your self-righteousness."

"I, Ultron, am the true perfect life form," he said this without any fluctuation in his tone, as if he had never wavered. The mechanical arms beside him began to operate precisely, the operation of the entire plant accelerated, and more machines were put to work. He knew that everything was going according to his plan.

The massive ascent game began to be broadcast on major screens worldwide. People watched the images on the screens, saw the city of Sokovia high in the sky, and felt that suffocating fear. Ultron's voice continued to echo on every channel, and the global audience was plunged into the shadow of this insane game.

"Today," he continued, "no one can stop me anymore. Look, Avengers, the 'game' has begun." His eyes sparkled with excitement, as if witnessing a sacred ritual, as if observing an experimental subject about to be dissected.

An inescapable disaster was about to descend. Ultron's game had begun. Between life and death, could the Avengers withstand this perfect trial, or would they collapse in this catastrophe? They were destined to be under Ultron's control, engaging in a life-and-death struggle with this machine god.

Inside the plane, in the sealed cabin, the atmosphere was so heavy it was almost suffocating. Steve stood at the front of the cabin, his gaze fixed on the screen. On the screen, Ultron's laughter was like a sharp blade, piercing the air, vibrating everyone's nerves. Thor leaned against the side wall of the cabin, his arms crossed, his brow furrowed. His eyes burned with anger, and the flames of fury were almost visible on his face. Sam Wilson leaned back in his seat, his legs crossed, his face grim, the veins on his forehead slightly bulging, clearly suppressing the anger in his heart.

"What he's saying... isn't true," Steve said in a low voice, with a hint of determination, as if speaking to himself, and also as if comforting the people around him. His hand tightly gripped the edge of the seat, as if he could regain a bit of sanity from it.

Sam didn't answer immediately, just silently watched the city rising into the sky, his confusion and anger intertwined. The corner of his mouth slightly curved up, as if he wanted to say something, but then immediately swallowed his words back. Ultron's plan was too crazy, too ambitious—if he could really do it, then humanity would be completely on the brink of extinction. Who could stop him?

"The Avengers have never felt so small," Thor said through clenched teeth, a flash of lightning in his eyes. He had never seen such an arrogant and cold enemy. Every word of Ultron's seemed to be tearing at their beliefs. And now, the scene before him, he couldn't ignore it, couldn't avoid it. The city flying into the sky was the biggest trap Ultron had prepared for them.

"We need to find a way to stop him quickly," Sam stood up, his tone filled with anxiety. "If he really controls this city—if it starts to descend..." He didn't finish, his words full of fear of failure.

"He won't stop easily," Steve replied calmly, "but we can't give up either."

Outside the distant window, the pilot was silently flying the plane, occasionally looking at the few people in the cabin. The tension in the air was almost palpable.

Meanwhile, in another plane, Natasha, Clint, and Banner were also watching the screen. The entire cabin was filled with a sense of oppression. The expressions on their faces didn't change much, but their hearts were in turmoil. Natasha stared intently at Ultron's cold, smiling face, her fists clenched, her knuckles turning slightly white. Every nerve in her body was taut, as if she could explode at any moment.

"This game," Natasha's voice was as cold as frost, "he is challenging us."

Banner sat beside her, his brow furrowed, his eyes never leaving the screen. His face was pale, and sweat was beading on his forehead. At this moment, his heart was filled with chaos and fear—Ultron was playing with human lives, like a child lighting toys with a burning match, and he couldn't predict how bad the situation would become next.

"We need to find that control source as soon as possible," Banner's voice was hoarse, as if he had just woken up from a nightmare. "Otherwise... even if we defeat Ultron, everyone will die."

Clint didn't respond, his eyes still fixed on the rising city, his lips tightly pressed together, as if he had already prepared for the worst. He knew that Ultron wouldn't give them much opportunity. The Avengers' time was running out.

"It's time to end all of this," Natasha suddenly stood up, her gaze firm, her tone revealing a chilling determination. "The Avengers will not yield easily."

"Are you sure you want to keep using it now?" Rhode was a little uncertain. He knew Tony had strong confidence in his inventions and technology, but this time, his heart was full of doubts. "If you mess up..."

"We have no choice," Tony's tone was firm, his gaze fixed ahead. "If we don't seize this last chance, the entire Earth will become a pawn in 'Ultron's' game. There is no second chance."

War Machine nodded, taking a deep breath. "Okay, Tony. Tell me what to do, I'll follow."

Tony smiled slightly, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes. "We have to break this game. We must make Ultron understand that the real chess player is never played with."

He took a deep look at Ultron on the screen, feeling his fingers begin to tremble slightly. Although he had long prepared for the worst, the invisible pressure deep down still prevented him from fully letting go.
