Chapter 164 - Collision between the Star and Earth

On the smoke-filled battlefield of Earth, amidst the ruins lay robots created by Ultron's remnants. These steel monsters writhed their filthy mechanical limbs, slicing through anything in their path with serrated blades. Amidst the chaos of battle, the Avengers fought individually. Hulk slammed his fist into the ground, smashing a row of mechanical monsters into metal scrap, sparks flying; Thor wielded Mjolnir, lightning crackling the sky, destroying several escaping flying robots; Natasha skillfully dodged enemy fire, bullets slicing through the air under her dual pistols. Every second burned, every collision a harbinger of doom.

Amidst the chaos, a glimmer of light appeared on the horizon. At first, it resembled a shooting star, then gradually lengthened into a dazzling trail of fire. The Avengers' battle was temporarily interrupted. Steve looked up, his brow furrowed: "This is... the enemy is here again?"

The trail of flames drew closer, revealing the silhouette of a familiar spaceship, its metal hull gleaming in the sunlight. The spaceship, like an uninvited guest, burst through the battlefield, spinning as it landed smoothly. A retro melody boomed from within the ship—"Come and Get Your Love"—its upbeat tune clashing with the brutal battlefield, yet strangely breaking the oppressive atmosphere.

The hatch slowly opened, and Peter Quill strode out from the thick cabin smoke. He held the Elemental Gun, a confident smile on his face, and the faint sounds of him arguing with Rocket Raccoon about the volume of the stereo could be heard behind him. Standing on the gangway like a rock star stepping onto the stage, he spread his arms wide and announced loudly, "Don't worry, the Guardians of the Galaxy are here! Ready to be rescued?"

A mechanical monster emitted a piercing alarm, quickly locking onto Quill's location, then turned and unleashed a fiery attack on the spaceship. Before he could finish speaking, Gamora had already darted out of the hatch like a ghost. With a swift swing of her twin blades, she cleanly severed the mechanical monster's arm, followed by a spinning slash that decapitated it. Gamora's gaze was cold and sharp; ignoring Quill's "entrance show," she stepped directly into the battlefield to continue her pursuit of the enemy.

Drax followed closely behind, his bare torso gleaming with a beastly light in the sunlight. His grin was like a child's ecstatic discovery of a new toy as he roared and pounced on a colossal robot. Gripping his short swords tightly, he plunged them precisely into the mechanical chest cavity, brutally tearing at the internal wiring. As he leaped down, the giant robot was paralyzed, emitting short, crackling electrical sparks. Drax stood atop the mechanical wreckage, laughing as he brandished his twin swords: "This is glory!"

On the other side of the hatch, Rocket Raccoon and Groot appeared together. Rocket carried an energy cannon larger than his body, a chewed-up toothpick dangling from his mouth. He stood on Groot's shoulder, completely unconcerned that the muzzle was covered in oil and metal shavings. He aimed at a group of enemies on the battlefield and lazily said, "These junk are really weak. Let me clean them up!" As soon as he finished speaking, the energy cannon emitted a piercing whistle, and a blinding blue light swept across the enemy position, instantly turning several robots into smoking scrap metal.

Groot stood beneath him, shielding himself from the flying metal fragments with his arm. He said in a deep, gentle voice, "I am Groot." Rocket rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, you're always Groot." He quickly switched gun modes and continued firing at another group of enemies.

The Mantis was the last to appear. Her movements were completely different from the other team members; there were no ferocious attacks, nor the cold glint of blades. She calmly moved through the ruins and flames, gently placing her hands on the shoulders of a wounded civilian, whispering words of comfort. The civilian's pain gradually subsided, and the Mantis revealed a gentle smile, turning to face several robots approaching her. She raised her hands, her fingertips emitting a soft green light. The robots abruptly stopped, their joints stiffening, then collapsed to the ground like puppets with broken strings.

The Avengers were momentarily stunned. Steve swung his shield to repel an attacking robot and whispered to Thor, "Are they friends or just another nuisance?" Thor shrugged, twirling his hammer in his hand as if eager to use it. "If they're enemies, wouldn't it be more fun to fight them again?"

Natasha didn't join the discussion; she nimbly dodged a laser shot, using the opportunity to observe the uninvited guests' movements. Gamora and she exchanged a brief glance, the two composed warriors nodded to each other, and then stood back-to-back to fight off the surging enemies.

Quill seemed to finally realize that this wasn't the time for jokes. He yelled at Gamora while firing his elemental gun, "Hey, you know what? My entrance just now was absolutely epic—" Gamora ignored him and instead precisely severed the support of another mechanical monster with her short blade.

Rocket, perched on Groot's shoulder, casually blasted through a crumbling wall with his energy cannon. He lazily called out to Clint, "Hey, archer, your shots are too meager. Look at my cannon, that's real firepower!" Clint, not to be outdone, quickly drew his bow and precisely pierced the energy core of a robot Rocket had missed. He then smiled, "Precision is key, little raccoon." Rocket's ears perked up in anger: "What did you call me?!"

The entire battlefield instantly transformed into a bizarre fusion, with the Avengers' precise strikes and steady teamwork on one side, and the Guardians of the Galaxy's unrestrained and unpredictable attacks on the other. As the number of robots gradually decreased, the flames and smoke of the battle slowly subsided, leaving behind ruins and metal debris scattered everywhere.

The final wave of robots gathered amidst the ruins, their energy cores glowing crimson. Like hounds, they pounced on the survivors on the battlefield. The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy quickly adjusted their formation, preparing for the final assault.

Steve raised his shield to block the oncoming lasers and commanded in a deep voice, "Natasha, to the right! Thor, break through their firing positions!"

Natasha had already infiltrated the ruins, silently climbing onto an overturned armored vehicle. Her gaze was icy, and she precisely hurled two electromagnetic bombs, which landed accurately on the central cores of two robots. After a brief flash of sparks, the two steel monsters collapsed to the ground. As Natasha landed, a shadow flashed behind her, and Gamora's blade flew, slicing one of the attacking robots in half at the waist.

"Your movements are clean and efficient," Natasha said softly, leaning back against Gamora as she continued clearing out the enemies. Gamora replied calmly, "You too."

On the other side, Thor leaped into the air, lightning roaring down from the clouds as he swung his hammer to the ground. Powerful electricity tore a group of enemies to charred remains, Mjolnir returned to his grasp, and the remaining robots were thrown back by the shockwave. Standing amidst the thick smoke, he roared without turning his head, "Where are the more enemies? Don't keep me waiting too long!"

Drax responded immediately. He grabbed a robot by the leg joint, flipped it over with brute force, ripped off its head, and roared, "Glory belongs to the warrior!"

Quill knelt to one side, firing frost bullets from his elemental gun, freezing several enemies into ice sculptures. He watched Drax's violent fighting style and shrugged. "He's always so over-excited, but sometimes it really works." He then switched on his headphones, activating the ship's sound system, and cheerful music once again filled the battlefield. Quill swayed as he fired, shouting, "Relax, everyone, we're about to win!"

Steve glanced back at Quill's dance moves with a sigh and said in a deep voice, "What are you doing? This is a battlefield."

"Even on the battlefield, a little sportsmanship is required!" Quill muttered, dodging a sudden attack from a mechanical arm.

Rocket Raccoon, perched on Groot's shoulder, precisely pierced the core components of the last few enemies with his massive energy cannon. He glanced at Quill on the other side of the battlefield, his face full of disdain: "Don't block my view while you're dancing, or I'll really want to blast you to smithereens!"

Groot repeated his name softly, "I am Groot." Rocket rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, you are Groot, nobody forgets."

The last robot was smashed to pieces by Hulk's giant hand, mechanical debris flying everywhere. Hulk stood in the center of the battlefield, panting heavily, and after scanning his surroundings to make sure there were no new enemies, he let out a satisfied roar.

The atmosphere calmed down briefly, and Quill took the opportunity to tuck his elemental gun back into his belt and wipe the sweat from his brow. He strode over to Gamora and excitedly suggested, "Now it's time to celebrate, isn't it? How about we dance and relax!"

Gamora frowned at him and slapped him on the head without hesitation: "Now is not the time to dance."

Quill touched the spot where he had been hit and muttered under his breath, "What a spoilsport."

Thor stood on high ground, watching Quill's comical performance, and chuckled, "Looks like even the heroes of the universe aren't so serious."

Steve removed his damaged helmet, walked up to the Guardians of the Galaxy, and extended his hand: "Thank you for your help. Earth owes you a favor."

Quill confidently shook Steve's hand: "You're welcome! It's standard procedure for the Guardians of the Galaxy." He then turned to Gamora: "See? I told you, we're heroes!"

Natasha and Gamora exchanged glances and nodded to each other without saying much, but it was clear that they had already accepted each other.

Rocket, carrying an energy cannon, walked over, looked around at the Avengers members, and finally stopped on Hulk, a smile playing on his lips: "How do you guys usually feed such a big guy?"

Hulk glared at him, but Rocket retorted without backing down, "What are you glaring at me for? Come on, let's fight."

Thor waved his hand with a smile: "You don't want him to get serious."

The entire battlefield was enveloped in a relaxed atmosphere, and the ravaged city seemed to be breathing, waiting for the next repair and rebirth.
