Elara's POV
"I hear your voice," Cassian says, stepping closer to the bed. "You were screaming—were you in pain?"
I don't even know how to answer that. I don't know whether to call screaming from a nightmare a painful experience.
"No," I say.
But that doesn't sound like the right answer.
"Yes, I was," I correct myself.
His eyes study me, and they fall on my wrists. "You cut yourself again?"
I would have lied, but that liberty is gone now—he's already seen it, and I can't possibly hide my hands.
I just nod.
He stares at Velora, and I start to think he might speak harshly to her, but he doesn't. He just watches her long enough to make her uncomfortable.
"Alpha…" she suddenly remembers and drops to her knees.
"No need for that," he stops her.
She turns to me. "Elara, I'll be leaving."
The door shuts behind her, leaving just Cassian and me.
