"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 212: Couldn't Resist—Soul Extraction

"Hm? You even know what I look like inverted… and what I can do? Seems you've done your homework."

Kurumi's eyes darted, her whole body tense, every nerve on edge as she watched Shuo's every move. She was ready for anything.

Shuo, on the other hand, didn't seem bothered at all. He just grinned at her, eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Honestly, white-haired inverted Kurumi is just—wow. Right up my alley. But you, right now… you're sexy and adorable both. I love every version of you."

Kurumi's mouth twitched. A vein throbbed on her forehead.

In the past, anyone who dared tease her so blatantly would have been dead before they finished their sentence.

She fell silent, and Shuo's tone softened.

"Look, I know Sawa's soul is fused with your inverse. Forcing you to invert would be tricky. But if it's just about separating her soul from yours… that's not hard at all."

Before Kurumi could react, Shuo raised his hand toward her. Blue light pulsed from his palm.

Kurumi's eyes widened in shock.

Then, pain—raw, searing—ripped through her, as if her soul were being torn in half.

She couldn't even scream. Her body collapsed, powerless, the Spirit dress dissolving away.

"Damn you… what did you do to me?!"

She glared up at Shuo, anger and humiliation warring in her eyes.

But Shuo just ignored her feeble glare and walked over, scooping her up in a practiced princess carry. He sat on a marble bench, settling her gently onto his lap.

Kurumi's face went crimson.

"Wh-what… what are you doing?"

Not only had he picked her up like some damsel in distress, now she was sitting in his lap, his arms around her.

No matter how bold she'd acted before, in this moment she just wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear.

She was still a girl at heart.

Shuo brushed her nose with a finger, and for a second he just looked at her—at those trembling lips, that shy, furious face.

And then, as if possessed, he leaned in and kissed her, quick and soft.

Smack.

Kurumi's whole body locked up, her mind going blank.

Who am I?

Where am I?

What just happened?

It took a full minute before she snapped out of it, cheeks blazing red.

Inside, her embarrassment and fury spun into a tornado that could have leveled a parking lot.

(She called it: "Tornado Destroys Parking Lot!!!")

After all, she'd never been this close to any guy before.

And now—this?!

Shuo cursed himself for being reckless, then tried to smooth things over.

"Um, Kurumi-chan, you're just… way too cute. I mean, I have zero resistance to beautiful girls, especially ones as adorable as you…"

Kurumi bit back a retort, glaring at him. She wanted to hit him—hard.

But then she remembered how powerless she was right now, completely at his mercy.

Endure it.

Just… endure it.

She gritted her teeth, forcing out, "It's… fine. Whatever."

Shuo's eyebrow shot up. "Well, if you say it's fine…"

Before Kurumi could process what was happening, he leaned in and kissed her again—this time, lingering just a little longer.

Kurumi: "?!?!?!?"

Again?!

She was about to explode, but Shuo cut her off.

"Hey, Kurumi-chan, I've got a present for you. Guaranteed to make you smile."

"A… present?"

Despite herself, Kurumi's curiosity flickered to life, momentarily forgetting her indignation.

Shuo smiled, holding her a little closer.

"It's your friend's soul—Sawa Yamauchi."

"What?"

Kurumi stared at him, stunned.

Shuo, still holding her, extended his other hand and opened his palm.

"Take a look. Isn't this the soul of your dear friend Sawa?"

Kurumi's eyes widened, locked on the image hovering above his hand.

A girl with chestnut hair in twin braids, wearing the black sailor uniform of Sakura Girls' Academy—

Not just similar. Identical. It was Sawa, exactly as Kurumi remembered her from twenty years ago.

"It's Sawa. It's really Sawa!"

Kurumi's face lit up with joy and confusion as she gazed at the floating soul.

"But… what's wrong with her?"

Shuo hugged Kurumi a little tighter, his voice gentle.

"She fainted when I separated her from your inverse form. She was low on spirit energy, but I've already topped her up. She'll be fine."

Kurumi let out a long breath, relief softening her features.

But then she shot Shuo a wary look.

"Wait. You're not just faking this to trick me, right?"

Shuo's lips curled in a sly smile.

"Not trusting me, Kurumi-chan? In that case, maybe I should just destroy Sawa's soul right now."

"You wouldn't dare!"

Kurumi's heart lurched. She tried to look indifferent, but panic flickered in her eyes. She quickly switched tactics, putting on her sweetest, most pitiful act.

"Nangong-kun, I'm sorry! Please, forgive me, okay?"

Shuo nearly melted. Kurumi's cuteness was lethal.

Watching her beg, he realized just how thoroughly she'd captured his heart.

But he wasn't about to let her off that easily.

He leaned in, eyes glinting.

"What are you—wait, don't—mmph…"

Before she could finish, Shuo kissed her again—deeper this time.

Kurumi's resistance melted away. Her eyes fluttered shut, her heart pounding.

By the time he finally let her go—two and a half minutes later—she was breathless, cheeks flushed, shooting him a playful glare.

"My, my. Nangong-kun, you're awfully skilled at this. You must have a lot of experience with girls, hmm?"

Shuo coughed, a little embarrassed.

"Just… natural talent, I guess. Anyway, let's get back to Sawa's situation."
