"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 215: Frenemy Fire—Lingerie Shopping for Kurumi
The instant Sawa found herself clothed, relief washed over her—though her cheeks still burned red.
Her chestnut hair, braided into twin plaits, framed a sweet, gentle smile. Dressed in Raizen High's girls' uniform, she looked every bit the radiant beauty—so much for the former Flame Spirit; now she was just another dazzling high school girl.
Kurumi and Sawa settled in close, voices low and full of secrets, catching up on everything lost to time.
Shuo, sensing the mood, wisely kept his distance. Some reunions deserved privacy.
With nothing better to do, Shuo dialed Tohka.
She picked up instantly, worry clear in her voice.
"Shuo, where are you? Are you okay?"
Her concern tugged at him.
"I'm fine, Tohka. Really. Are you, Shiori, and Origami still at school?"
"Nope! After you left, everyone snapped out of it. The spacequake got school canceled for the day."
"Good. Tonight, I'm bringing Kurumi and a friend home. Let Kotori and the others know. I'll skip coming back this afternoon."
"Got it!"
A few more words, then they hung up.
Shuo glanced at the time and walked over, interrupting the girls' heart-to-heart.
"Now that everything's settled, let's hit the mall and pick up some essentials!"
He smiled, adding, "Tomorrow, I'll get Sawa's transfer paperwork started. If there's time, we can show her around the school."
"No need for a tour," Sawa replied, surprisingly serious.
"When you showed Kurumi around yesterday, I was inside her—got the full experience."
Kurumi's eye twitched.
"Idiot Sawa! Say one more weird thing and see what happens. What are you, my tapeworm?!"
Sawa just pouted, playing up the drama.
"Kurumi, you're abandoning me for a guy! You've forgotten all about your best friend!"
Kurumi's eyes flashed crimson, a wicked smile twisting her lips.
"Ara ara, looks like Sawa-chan needs some discipline. Shuo-chan, should I help you subdue this idiot so you can devour her?"
Shuo nodded, deadpan.
"Outdoor combat, huh? Never tried it. Sounds fun."
Sawa turned scarlet, sputtering.
"You—you perverted woman! Selling out your friend! No wonder nobody wants you, you forty-year-old spinster!"
Kurumi's voice sharpened.
"What did you just say?!"
"I said you're an old maid! Old virgin! Hopeless and unwanted! Hmph, go die of rage!"
Kurumi shot back.
"Shut up! Like you're not an old virgin yourself, you hag!"
The two glared, trading insults with a venom that would make grown men flinch.
Shuo just watched, amused.
Girls' fights these days were savage—and honestly, way more entertaining than TV.
He stepped in, hands raised.
"Alright, enough. We're on a schedule here. Let's go. By the way, Kurumi, you've been in the rain for ages. You feeling okay?"
Kurumi sniffed, prideful as ever.
"Ara, don't forget—Nightmare isn't fazed by a little rain."
Still, Shuo's concern softened her, even if she wouldn't admit it.
"Fair enough. Spirit bodies are tough."
With that, Shuo led Kurumi and Sawa out to Tengu City's shopping district.
Inside a women's boutique, Kurumi and Sawa dove into racks of clothes, laughter and color everywhere.
Shuo, meanwhile, sat at the entrance, bored to tears and scrolling his phone—shopping was not his thing.
Suddenly, Kurumi appeared before him, head bowed, cheeks tinged pink.
"I want to buy some lingerie… Shuo-chan, will you help me pick?"
Shuo glanced at the lingerie store next door, then puffed up with mock heroism.
"Please, allow me the honor!"
Kurumi's smile bloomed, bright and mischievous.
"Ara, then I'll trouble you. Pick something cute for me, okay?"
They stepped inside.
Rows of lace and silk dazzled Shuo—he'd passed by these places before, but never actually entered.
For a guy, this was basically paradise… and a minefield.
Every single person inside—customers and staff alike—was female.
No man in his right mind would come in alone, unless he wanted to die of embarrassment.
Luckily, Kurumi slipped her arm through his, radiating couple energy.
The staff, who'd been sizing him up, immediately relaxed.
Shuo exhaled, relieved.
Even with his social confidence, all those stares were a bit much.
He grinned at Kurumi.
"I swear, I'm falling harder for you every minute."
Kurumi tilted her head, teasing.
"Ara, and how much do you love me, Shuo-chan?"
He hesitated, then laughed softly.
"Words can't cover it. All I know is, you're all I think about—every single day."
Kurumi giggled.
"Bet you've said that to lots of girls."
She darted off, spotting something she liked.
A moment later, she returned, holding up two sets of lingerie—one blue, one purple, both trimmed in delicate lace, sexy with a hint of cute.
"Ara, which one does Shuo-chan like best?"
Shuo studied them, then shook his head.
"Honestly, both are great—but neither is my absolute favorite."
Kurumi's curiosity flared.
"Oh? So what's your favorite type?"
Shuo pointed to a rack behind her.
"That one."
Kurumi turned.
There, hanging alone, was a set of black lace—so sheer it was nearly see-through.
Wearing it would be like wearing nothing at all.
Kurumi stared, then broke into a sly smile.
"Ara, I didn't expect Shuo-chan to be so… naughty."
