In mid-air, Thor spun Mjolnir like a windmill, but against the combination of Vibranium and Uru metal that Absorber No. 1 wielded, he could do nothing.
Vibranium withstood Mjolnir's blows, while Uru metal absorbed Thor's divine power and lightning, releasing it back in amplified form. It was both offense and defense in one.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Thor, caught in mid-air, became a living target. Against the duplicate's absorption abilities, he was struck down again and again.
He finally crashed onto a car, flattening it like a discus, before slamming heavily onto the road.
Cars screeched around him, forcing Thor to swing Mjolnir and launch back into the sky to avoid being hit.
"Damn it, this Allens duplicate is too strong. Fury's support still isn't here?" Thor cursed. There were only three enemies in front of him, and he was already struggling—let alone facing Allens himself.
"Mr. Thor, actually, Director Nick Fury's support has arrived."
A familiar voice came over the comms. Moments later, a massive fighter jet, even larger than a Quinjet, appeared in the sky.
Inside the aircraft—code-named Rescuer—Phil Coulson, now Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., stood before a display showing the Avengers' battle below.
Behind him stood Melinda May, Agent Mike Peterson, Lance Hunter, Mockingbird (Bobbi Morse), Fitz and Simmons from the science team, and Skye—returned from the dead.
"Skye, deploy the Secret Warriors," Coulson ordered.
"I'll handle it, Phil."
Skye's eyes blazed with anger—Allens had once split open her mind. Only the light of the soul had kept her alive. Rescued by Patriot Lina and infused with Kree blood, she was revived at a secret base. The scar across her forehead remained, a reminder of what she'd endured.
"Yo-Yo, Joey, get ready to move."
At her command, a smaller craft detached from the Rescuer. Inside were two figures, a man and a woman.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Missiles streaked from the Rescuer, striking Absorber No. 1. But the duplicate simply transformed his body into pure Vibranium, shrugging off the blasts unscathed.
"Action."
Coulson's team, well aware of Allens' abilities, didn't hesitate. Ropes dropped, and the team slid down to the battlefield.
"Oh? Old friends?" Absorber No. 1 sneered. Though a copy, he had his own consciousness. His eyes fixed on Skye.
"Interesting… Skye survived. Saved by Kree blood, was it?"
The information he absorbed was instantly shared with the other duplicates guarding the Regeneration Cradle in a nearby truck. Four identical faces smiled darkly in unison.
Skye's rebirth was indeed due to Kree blood, but it was the earlier light of the soul that kept her consciousness intact. Reborn, she was stronger than ever.
This only deepened the duplicates' hunger for the Mind Stone. They longed for evolution—for their original self to grow stronger.
Landing on the deserted road, Skye spread her hands, releasing powerful vibrations. Twin shockwaves tore through the air, striking Scarlet Witch head-on.
Wanda crashed into a car, coughing blood. Shocked, she stared at Skye. "Another superhuman?!"
"Don't confuse me with man-made experiments like you," Skye shot back, eyes glowing with disdain. "I'm an Inhuman."
"Interesting. An Inhuman?" Wanda's lips twisted into a snarl. "You little b**ch… you just pissed me off."
Red chaos magic flared in her hands as she rose, eyes blazing. In an instant, her power seized Skye, hurling her into the ground with a brutal flick.
Boom!
Even with her powers, Skye groaned in pain, one hand pressed against the asphalt. Vibrations rippled out.
Rumble!
The road convulsed like a waking serpent, tearing itself apart to attack Wanda. She shot upward, red energy swirling around her, shattering the oncoming debris.
Meanwhile, another small craft halted near Absorber No. 1. A man in casual clothes leapt out, power radiating.
"Metal melts before me. No matter what you're made of, I'll turn it to liquid."
It was Joey, the Inhuman metallokinetic. Seeing the duplicate's silver-white skin, he grew confident.
But when his power hit… nothing happened.
"What?! My ability—why isn't it working?!"
Panic seized him. Before awakening, he'd been an ordinary man, and this was his first true battle.
"Not bad," Absorber No. 1 smirked. "The original will enjoy adding your power to his collection."
His body shed Vibranium, morphing into asphalt as he lunged. His hand clamped around Joey's throat, lifting him with terrifying ease.
Thud!
Joey went limp as the duplicate struck him unconscious. He wasn't killed—Allens would claim his power later.
The other Secret Warrior, Yo-Yo, rushed from the craft, horrified. "Phil, this isn't what we were promised! These enemies are way beyond our level!"
Phil's face tightened. "Looks like Fury anticipated this—that's why he disappeared again."
He pressed a hand to his earpiece. "Rescuer, activate the emergency plan."
The Rescuer's lower bay opened, dropping a massive silver-white container. Its sides split apart, revealing rows of fully armed Fury clone soldiers, each wielding retro-styled yet advanced energy weapons.
