Eva eyes widened, she would love to leave but she noticed there was a bit of worry in her eyes, Eva walked up to her and asked
"What is wrong?"
"I spoke to my lawyer and found out he planned to summit his files next month and he thought it would be wise for us to leave the house before that day." her mom explained.
"It'll be safer for us and you don't have to switch schools…" Eva listened to everything her mom said, and agreed to it.
Her mom smiled then left her room. Eva sighed in relief and bent down and trying to grab something under the bed. She brought out a suit case and placed it in her closet instead "Why are you doing that?" Zeiran asked her.
Eva turned to him almost forgetting he is was still here, "So I can pack my stuff easily." She explained while setting up her bag, Zeiran finally stood up from her bed and walk towards her.
He gently grabbed her chin pulling her gaze up to him. "I might as well give milady a small piece of advice. Don't think it is over and everything will be good from here on out; The older you get, the more you grow in wisdom and mature towards fulfilling your destiny. The storms are ahead and your journey has only begun. Dethatch yourself from the things that don't matter and focus on what's at hand." Zeiran smirked and let go of Eva's chin.
Eva asked, her eyes narrowing slightly "And what exactly is at hand and that I'm supposed to focus on?"
Zeiran let out a grin "Let's just leave it at answering the question 'what are you?', 'who are you?' and 'why do you exist?'. I suggest you get started, princess." With that, Zeiran disappeared.
Eva's head was still ringing after what Zeiran had said but she chose to let it off for now and get some sleep for school tomorrow.
The next morning, Eva got ready for school and has always she walked to school, she saw Jayne waiting for her at the school gate, they greeted each other before walking to class.
Jayne took out a bottle of hair dye from her bag "I brought the dye but I don't think you need it any more" she said looking at her hair which was now brown again.
Eva put the bottle down and opened her locker and three balloons came out and a letter was tied to one of the strings, Jayne took the letter from the string, smiling like her life depended on it.
She gave it to Eva and told her to open it, Eva chuckled seeing how excited her bestie is about some flashy letter.
Eva read it, Jayne who was standing opposite her was till curious on what was on that piece of paper.
"Eva read it out, I wanna know" Jayne whined and pouted her lips like a child.
"Fine, it says 'Will you go to the prom with me?'" Eva read in a totally uninterested tone. Jayne face fell in disappointment, she was expecting a romantic gesture or something heartwarming but he just went straight to the point.
"NO" Jayne said crossing her arms, Eva looked at her, puzzled "Why not?" she asked
"Well, because you deserve better, what kind of guy just asks a girl straight up. Will you go to the prom with me?" Jayne mocked.
"A guy that doesn't want to beat around the bush?" Eva said putting her bag in her locker and picking out the books she needs.
"Whatever. whose name is on the paper?"
Eva turned the papers around till she saw a signature "Oh, it says signed…" Eva looked at the name, her eyes widened slightly. She then folded the paper back into her locker "you don't want to know" she locked her locker and walked off to class "later Jayne."
"I wouldn't ask if I didn't want to hear it." she pouted her lips once more before leaving the hallway to her class.
The day went on as usual until Eva bumped into a guy. She looked up at his face before confirming who it was; Jackson.
"So can I get your answer?" he asked
"Sure, why not." Eva accepted, not making a fuss. He smiled and they exchanged numbers.
After exchanging numbers, he pecked her on her cheek before leaving. Eva stood there still smiling awkwardly until a hand wiping her cheek with a cloth caught her attention.
It was Zeiran and he was cleaning the exact place she was pecked on my Jackson with a cloth. She pushed his hand away.
"What are you doing here? And why are you cleaning my cheek?" Eva asked touching her cheek
"Just getting rid of any virus he might have left on you, your welcome" Zeiran said, patting her head before walking away.
Eva stared at him before walking after him "I didn't ask you to do that"
"I know*
"So why did you do it?"
"I was just helping you"
"What did she need help for?" Jayne butted in.
"a guy kissed her on her cheek" Zeiran explained
"Oh goodie" Jayne cheered with excitement, forgetting she was mad at Zeiran.
"It was Jackson" Zeiran spoke up.
"Oh, bad." Jayne scowled.
"For once we agree, mortal"
"Can both of you stop arguing about my love life, it is my love life and you're not allowing me to speak" Eva stopped the argument between them.
"We just want what is best for you" Jayne spoke holding Eva hand "And that is not Jackson." Zeiran reasoned.
"Exactly" Jayne supported.
Eva just sighed and left them both.
"Wait, what are you doing here?" Jayne asked after realizing he doesn't go to their school
"That has nothing to do with you" Zeiran said. Jayne scowled and looked away "What hurts more is how you're so rude, yet, this hot."
Eva smiled in relief knowing that she preferred them to be enemies than friends, they waved each other good bye for they parted ways.
Eva and Zeiran walked home in silence. As they walked, Eva spoke up. "Why were you here today?". Zeiran kept walking not bothering to give her as much as a glance. "Zeiran, stop!" and he came to a complete halt.
Eva's eyes narrowed as she walked up to him "I asked, why were you here today?". Zeiran smirked "You'll know… soon enough." and he kept on walking. He walked ahead of her as though he was leading her somewhere, she noticed but followed without questions
He stopped in front of an empty express road, he stood at the side walk like he was waiting for something to happen, she also stood with him
She was about to tell him she wanted to go home until she saw a girl around fifteen, who seemed to be on her phone, she lifted her head up to check the road even though it was clearly empty.
She crossed the road but before she could reach the other side a car zoomed at full speed, out of nowhere, hit her and sent her flying.
Eva gasped, holding her breath has her hands covered her mouth. She landed with a huge thud. The girl laid there, lifeless in a pool of her own blood, wounds were all over and her bones were sticking out. Eva took off to help but Zeiran pulled her back.
"Why are you stopping me? she needs help!" Eva yelled at Zeiran, he stared at her with a coldness in his eyes.
"Why would you want to help when she is clearly dead? After all, you're the reason all of this happened."
