Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

Eva's eyes widened in fear, cold sweat ran down her face and her stomachs were in knots. "What the hell is going on? What does he mean I'm to blame for all of this?". Eva tried to run again. Maybe… just maybe, she could do something but Zeiran held her arm tight, it was starting to hurt her, she struggled to get free but it was all in vain. "Let me go!" Tears of guilt and pain started to stream down her face. She tried to scream but not a sound was heard; she felt like she was suffocating.

Finally, Zeiran let her go, throwing her to the ground, her arm red from where he held. She landed on the floor staring at Zeiran. He stood there looking inhuman. She had never been so scared in her entire life. His gaze sent a chill down her spine as though she was staring at a monster, ready to devour her soul…

"This is who you are and you have to accept that." His voice echoed in her head, getting louder by the moment. Eva crouched to the ground and covered her ears as tears streamed down.

She opened her eyes and unfortunately, she met his gaze. His eyes glowed a cyanic blue; subtle, cold yet threatening. They were like two beacons tearing into the fragments of her soul.

At that very moment, she could've sworn her sanity was long gone.

She screamed at the top of her longs "NO! MAKE IT STOP, PLEASE!" Her screams echoed through the eerie night and then… black.

Eva woke up with a jolt; sweat running down her face and tears, down her eyes. Her body was still trembling in fear. It all still felt real to her; the feeling of Zeiran 's grip on her wrist. she held up her arm to see her wrist. The spot where Zeiran held her so tightly the mark was gone.

"Was it a dream?" she asked herself "No, it couldn't have been; it was too real.". She could feel herself drowning in it, just like the time in the hospital and that this time, there was no one to save her.

She got up slowly and proceeded downstairs to get some water.

She went into the kitchen, grabbed a cup and filled it up with water. As she turned around, heading for the counter, Zeiran was standing right in front of her.

"Hello" he smiled. Eva nearly fainted, she froze for a moment before regaining her composure.

"Could you stop surprising me with your visits, a little warning would be nice." she said walking back to her room "What are you doing?" he asked

"Why are you here?" Eva countered.

"Touché" He smirked

Eva rubbed her eyes, still shaken up by what happened earlier.

"Are you ok?" Zeiran asked, his demeanor shifting to a more serious one.

"I am fine just had a bad dream. I wanna ask you something." Eva replied

"What is it?"

"Have you even been in my dreams, like have you ever tried to scare or any sort of that while I was asleep?" Eva asked.

"Why do you ask?" Zeiran's eyes narrow.

"Just answer the question."

Zeiran grimaced before speaking as though he found the question offensive. "Why would I debase myself to gain entertainment from mere dreams, do you know how frustrating it is to realize your victim in torment is only going through an illusion? It gets even worse when you start to enjoy it and they just wake up-"

"-You're straying from the question." Eva glared with suspicion in her eyes.

"Hm? Oh, right. Short answer; No, I'd rather scare you to death in real life."

Eva just glared at him and then rolled her eyes. It was still 3:21 AM and she was not ready to deal with him now. She waved her hand dismissively, telling him that they would meet in the morning, that was still feeling a bit sleepy and would love to go back to sleep.

She didn't wait for an answer before closing the door behind her and after she drank some more water, she went straight to sleep.

Later that morning, Zeiran appeared. He stared at Eva still in bed and frowned before turning to a clock on the side table. It was 6:30 AM. "Mortals" He muttered and sighed before walking up to her and whispering in Eva's ears "Wake up sleepyhead".

Eva groaned, her face twisting in frustration but her eyes stayed shut. "If seeing me miserable is your goal, you have succeeded." Eva said, pulling the covers over herself, to sleep some more.

"You should be making others miserable, not the other way around. Besides, your insufferable 'friend' is here." he said dragging the blanket of her before leaving.

Eva lazily stood up from her bed, took a shower and changed her clothes before coming down to welcome Jayne.

She was shocked everyone eating at the dining table. Fredrick, Lizzy and Luke caught her gaze and now that she thought of it; she couldn't remember the last time she saw them. They had been in the same house but not once did she remember seeing them.

The moment the saw her they looked away like this wasn't their first time in almost a month from seeing her. She stared in disbelief for a while until Jayne's call warped her back to reality.

Her mom had invited Jayne to join them for breakfast and she had agreed but on the condition that Eva would be there. Eva reluctantly joined with a soft sigh "This is going to be a heck of a day…" she thought.

Eva sat between Jayne and rose and stared to eat. Everyone tried their best to avoid eyes contact from each other. The tension was palpable and it didn't take long for Jayne to notice.

As soon has she was done eating, Jayne thanked Rose for the meal and then literally pulled Eva outside.

"That was very awkward, anyway we have to get a lot in order before prom tomorrow but we were called privately by the principal" Jayne explained taking out her phone to show Eva the email the principal sent her. "Isn't today a Saturday though?" Eva whined.

"Do you think she cares?"

Eva read it, she pointed out "she emailed three people, if you were one and I was two then who is the third person?" she asked.

Jayne thought for a while "I guess we have to go find out"

They walked to school and weren't too surprised to see it open. "I hear the principal lives in the school basement" Jayne jested and Eva laughed "I wouldn't be too surprised if is aw that.". The giggled and proceeded to the principal's office.

"Have you been to an empty school before?" Eva asked.

"No, the hell; it's creepy"

They walked into the principal office shutting the door with speed behind them like they were been chase.

"Is everything all right?" the principal asked pulling her glasses down a bit

Eva and Jayne made eye contact then they chuckled awkwardly before nodding to confirm, they were alright.

"I am glad to have all of you here; I have to something to show you" the principal said before turning to her desk drawer, rummaging through her files for something.

Eva thought what did she mean by all of us, Jayne stared at her, signaling her to look to the her left.

She did and she didn't even know a boy was standing there; it was John.
