Atlas and moon emerged from an old raggedy house while celeste stood at the entrance waving at them as they walked away.
Moon awkwardly turned around to wave back only to see celeste go back into the house and close the door behind her, his hand dropped has he heard Atlas giggling behind him.
Moon was about to turn around and assault the man but then remembered he was an arch mage and something caught his attention too, the house was much smaller on the outside then it was on the inside even the view from inside was different from the actual outside.
A confused look was woven across his face but Atlas just smiled and told him to 'hurry up'.
Moon turned around and walked away from the strange little house but after a few steps he turned around again and stared at the great wall behind the house.
The great wall was like a shield for the people of the ground but it was also a prison reminding them that there was nowhere else to go.
Moon knew the wall protected them
But still
To him it felt like they were prisoners without chains or just rat's trapped in a box
"Brat, hurry up"
Moon turned away, clearing his head of useless thoughts and jogged towards Atlas.
Before long Atlas and moon arrived in the slums, the streets were filled of garbage, the houses were barely intact and if one were to look into the alley, you would find a couple of dead bodies or pieces at least.
At the side of the road there were three children wearing rags, playing with tin cans, even though they were, skinny hungry and thirsty, they still had such huge smiles on their faces.
Atlas walked towards them while moon stayed behind and watched as the supposedly arch mage played with the kids then offered them candy, the children were cautious of course but upon seeing moon, one of their own, wave at them, they accepted and ate the candy.
The moment they ate it, their eyes lit up like flames, it was probably the first time the kids had ever had anything so sweet, their smiles were so infectious that even moon couldn't help but grin.
After Atlas gave the kids a small bag filled of candy and watched as they ran off to share it among the other children, he returned to moon with a satisfied grin on his face.
But moon was expressionless "you shouldn't do that, if you don't plan to take responsibility"
Atlas stared at him with a blank expression and replied "that's exactly what I plan to do"
"And for me to do that I need your help"
"What can I even do" Moon asked
"You're an awakened, aren't you"
Moon chuckled "yeah, I guess you can call me that but I haven't even entered the beginner stages"
"I've only ever seen the blue mural, once in my life"
Atlas nodded "that's okay, everything you don't know I can teach you and celeste will train on how to wield a sword, she's also an awakened, you know"
Moon stood there silent, he should be happy right
But no
Not knowing why he was doing all this left a bitter taste in his mouth maybe it was because he couldn't see it, he couldn't see what was so special about this place, he couldn't see what was so special about him.
He wanted to ask 'why' but he felt like it was not his place so he kept quiet.
Atlas grinned " I bet you're curious, huh, brat so I'll tell you why" Atlas pointed his finger to a small crowd of children, moon saw the three kids sharing candy among them "I'm doing this for them, I believe they deserve a chance"
Moon clenched his fist "and how do you intend to do that"
Atlas grin grew wider "This city, it's principles and values, their way of life, I'll destroy it, I'll burn it to the ground and then I'll rebuild a new city, one were children can smile forever"
"It's a small task for one such as i"
Moon smiled "You're not human are you"
The veins on Atlas face popped out in anger "What the hell do you mean by that you brat"
Moon shrugged "oh nothing"
Atlas sighed "so are you in"
Moon's gaze wandered to the sky, the sun had began it's descent casting an orange glow which clashed with the bright blue of the sky and drifting across its vast expanse, hovering high above the slums was a magnificent kingdom.
Every person on the ground had at least once dreamed of living there but what if they could make a kingdom of their own, it was just a dream but a nice one nonetheless.
Moon stared back at Atlas "I'll do it"
Atlas smiled "then let's head back"
Moon accepted his offer even though saving the city that took everything from him and helping the people that just watched it happen didn't sit well with him but, burning everything down sounded pretty good.
