Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: The Shrine of Dath'Remar

Illuminated by the Sunwell's light, Eversong Woods maintains a perpetually spring-like atmosphere. But this time, a fierce, cold wind from Lordaeron brought a heavy snowfall to Quel'Thalas.

Normally, the falling snow would have melted in the warm earth. However, the snow continued to fall until the entire Eversong Woods was stained a pure white.

Leylin cast a constant heating spell on the two sisters to prevent them from freezing in the bitter wind and snow.

"It's been a while since we've been to Sunstrider Isle, Leylin. Sister, should we go somewhere and tell Leylin about the origins of our elven kingdom?" Vereesa asked.

Sylvanas wasn't familiar with elven history, but she was also curious about this island, which held a certain sacred significance. Since becoming a ranger, she had rarely visited this island.

Elves are always more patient than humans, and the two sisters spent a full three hours traveling to see the sights of Sunstrider Isle. Elves are long-lived, and their sense of time differs greatly from that of humans.

Fortunately, they finally arrived. Sunstrider Isle boasts only a few scattered temples, few mages, and rarely seen elves.

On the west side of the island stood a towering temple—called Falthrien Academy where Leylin studies.

With no other elves at this time, this place seemed to be a world unto itself for the two sisters and Leylin. When they arrived, Vereesa was like a foal without a leash, happily running and leaping through the snow.

Occasionally, she would accidentally smack her head in the snow. Leylin hurriedly helped her up, only to shake his head at the snowflakes buried between her forehead and hair.

Today was the most relaxing day in the elven kingdom of Quel'Thalas.

"Hit!"

A loose snowball, gathered with a little effort, struck Leylin in the face. Sudden and stunned, Leylin wiped the snow from his face, smirking at her.

A naive little girl, actually engaging in a snowball exchange with a mage? Leylin raised his left hand, and dozens of fluffy snowballs appeared before him.

Vereesa immediately sensed something was amiss. She hurried behind Sylvanas, pouting, "Look, he's bullying me!"

Sylvanas, looking at her younger sister, whose face was happier than anyone else's, said, "Then let him bully you. I'm happy with it."

"I hate you so much, second sister." Vereesa said and took some distance. She grabbed a ball of snow and threw it at Sylvanas's neck.

Knowing the younger sister had planned this, Sylvanas was helpless. Unable to adjust her clothing in front of Leylin, she let the fluffy snowflakes melt and flow down her chest. It must have been very uncomfortable.

"Little sister, you're done for today!" Sylvanas was much faster than her younger sister, oblivious to Leylin standing nearby.

Sylvanas, having discarded her Ranger General persona, immediately threw her younger sister into the snow, removed the scarf she'd wrapped around her neck, and placed handfuls of snowflakes on her chest.

"Help! I'm freezing!"

Leylin swallowed, unable to comprehend the two sisters' strange playfulness.

Seeing them continue to play was pointless, Leylin walked over and said, "Alright, alright, if you keep playing! My constant heating spell is about to fail."

The sight of the two sisters' soaked chests was enticing. Vereesa, in particular, wore light-colored clothing, revealing even her inner garments.

She remained unfazed by Leylin's gaze, shivered and said, "Hurry up and use your fire magic to help me dry! I'm freezing!"

It wasn't a high request, and Leylin maintained his gentlemanly demeanor, avoiding touching her breasts with his left hand. From a distance of twenty centimeters, Leylin used the dry, warm energy of his fire magic to smooth her soaked clothing back to its original state.

Although Leylin's hand didn't touch her, Vereesa still felt the warmth against her chest. If her second sister hadn't been there, she would have reveled in the exquisite sensation without hesitation.

After tidying up Vereesa's clothes, Leylin looked at Sylvanas. Sylvanas glared at Leylin angrily, as if to ask, "What are you going to do?"

Leylin, however, possessed considerable emotional intelligence. He simply conjured a small [Fireball] enough for her to get warmth, then, using a certain amount of magical energy to lift it, passed it to Sylvanas's hand.

"Well, handle it yourself."

"Hmph, don't think I'll thank you." Sylvanas mouthed to Leylin.

The snow was falling ever heavier, with no sign of stopping. It was making it difficult for Leylin and the two sisters to walk. Fortunately, Leylin's mastery of fire magic allowed him to clear a narrow path through the snow.

"Up ahead is the shrine of Dath'Remar, a monument created in the first king's honor." Vereesa said, pointing to the massive stone pillar, richly elf-inspired.

From afar, the shrine of Dath'Remar imbued Leylin with a profound aura. The entire stone pillar seemed profoundly heavy. From this surface, he could almost glimpse the emotions of the elves upon arriving on this new land: excitement and fear.

"I've read so many history books. That is about Dath'Remar Sunstrider, the founder of our kingdom of Quel'Thalas. This great elf guided our forefathers to a new homeland and gave us the opportunity to shape our own culture. Our elven kingdom will forever remember this great leader." Sylvanas prayed devoutly.

Vereesa, like her older sister, wore a solemn expression as she too paid respect to the shrine, a descendant of the Highborne.

Leylin knew the history of the High Elves even better than the two sisters. Even before and after the War of the Ancients, this Highborne elf named Dath'Remar along with his caste were fascinated by the first Well of Eternity, and became obsessed studying and harnessing the Well's magic.

They had a profound disagreement with the Kaldorei, leading to their exile to their current location. However, this highborne stole one of the magical vials that had been confiscated from Illidan Stormrage.

Using this water, they gained another source of energy and established a new civilization on this new land, distinct from the Kaldorei: the civilization of the high elves. They began to abandon the faith of Elune and instead worshipped the Sacred Sun.

"You don't seem curious about our history." Sylvanas said, looking at the calm Leylin.

Honestly, feigning ignorance in front of the two sisters was quite difficult. "I know something about the kingdom's history. What you just said, I already knew."

"And what are you so proud of?"

"What are you talking about, sister, Leylin?"

Sylvanas said, holding her younger sister's hand. "Nothing, we should go back."
