After the initial infusion of arcane energy, Frank's eyes, crafted from purple crystal, glowed brightly.
Frank still stared at this student and teacher with fear, his previous memories still lingering.
"The arcane energy is flowing smoothly, and the core array shows no signs of energy disturbance. Student, your idea is excellent." Belo'vir breathed a sigh of relief, his efforts today finally paying off.
Belo'vir regarded his student with respect. This student, who had only been with him for few months, was diligent and exceptionally talented, unmatched by any elf in Belo'vir's world.
"What I came up with was just a method. The key lies in the instructor's operation, that exquisite arcane core array." Leylin stated.
The mentor shook his head and said, "I will develop these two new theories you've proposed into a research project. This will help you gain a significant reputation points with the Silvermoon Council. Oh, of course, this will happen after the Construct Conference." The usually steady mentor smiled.
Leylin understood his mentor's meaning. After all, the scarcest commodity in this mage tower wasn't magic or knowledge, but gold coins to exchange for construct materials.
Dinner hadn't yet begun, so Leylin and his mentor began preparing it late into the night. Their energy was expended immensely; if they went to bed on an empty stomach, it was hard to guarantee they would have the energy to continue working the next day.
Using magic to control the utensils and heat, they cooked a delicious meal, so delicious that even Frank kept gravitating toward the table. This intelligent construct yearned for the delicious food on the table.
Belo'vir and Leylin treated it with respect. Leylin prepared a serving of tableware and food for Frank and placed it before him.
Frank imitated the way this student and mentor ate. As an intelligent construct, he quickly realized his own problem. "Oh my god, I don't even have a mouth!"
Clearly unhappy, Frank's amethyst eyes flickered at a low frequency, a way for him to express his feelings. The mentor and Leylin simply smiled at each other and began to eat.
Due to the late hour, Leylin didn't return to the inn, instead staying in his mentor's mage tower. The next morning, he still had to fill out forms and draw lots to determine the order of his constructs in the first round of the competition.
However, Leylin, following his usual routine, completed two tasks before falling into a peaceful sleep.
This unintentional action caught the attention his teacher in the mage tower. Besides being pleased with his student's dedication, he was also impressed by Leylin's rapid progress in magic.
Leylin had just refined vast amount of magical energy, further improving his magical prowess. Genius—that was the only word that could describe his student's achievements.
Leylin didn't emerge from his room until noon the next day. He looked hurried, and Leylin knew he had overslept.
"Don't worry. There's milk and bread on the table. After you're full, go to the Construct Conference's organizing association to draw lots. It's not too late now, student." Belo'vir said to Leylin with a smile.
After a quick wash, Leylin quickly finished the food on the table, greeted to his teacher, and left the Mage Tower.
The two organizations hosting this Construct Conference were the Silvermoon Council and the Magisters. The competition lasted three days and any magister could participate, but the rules were a single-elimination system with no chance of redemption.
Leylin was quite unlucky. As soon as he entered Silvermoon City, he saw the 'Greatest Traitor' Dar'Khan. He was sitting on a red bench surrounding the garden, with a high priestess and another high-ranking magister.
Leylin didn't want to pay attention to Dar'Khan. He calmly walked past the magister, completely ignoring Dar'Khan's presence.
Dar'Khan coughed lightly, stood up and said, "Magister Leylin, after all, we are members of the same team who have carried out a mission together. Don't you have the gentlemanly etiquette to exchange pleasantries when you meet?"
Not bothering to pay attention to him, Leylin paused for half a second and walked straight towards the temple in front.
A magister near Dar'Khan sneered, "The grand magister's student is too arrogant."
Dar'Khan smiled at Leylin and said, "They are nothing more than two clowns who stir up trouble. Sooner or later, those from the old faction's leftover from thousands of years ago will be expelled from the Silvermoon Council sooner or later. Don't you agree?"
"Of course." Elrodan kept the same smile as Darkan.
Liadrin looked at Dar'Khan and said, "You're wrong, Dar'Khan. Grand Magister Belo'vir and his student have always served Quel'Thalas wholeheartedly. Perhaps the Grand Magister may seem prejudiced against the Royal Court, but that doesn't affect his loyalty to the Kingdom."
"Liadrin, you need to take a long-term view to see the problem. The Elven Kingdom is no longer what it once was. I believe that when Prince Kael'thas returns to Quel'Thalas, these old remnants of the Council will be exiled!" Dar'Khan said with a somewhat extreme tone.
"And of course, I already dislike these two mentor and student. I will embarrass them thoroughly at this Construct Conference!" Dar'Khan raised an eyebrow.
Liadrin could understand Dar'Khan's resentment towards Belo'vir. When Grand Magister Belo'vir was a Council President of the Silvermoon Council, every time Dar'Khan attempted to advance from Affiliate Mage to Councilor, he was vetoed by Belo'vir.
Ever since Grand Magister Belo'vir relinquished his Council President status, Magister Dar'Khan finally joined the Silvermoon Council. It's natural for him to harbor hostility towards the Grand Magister.
Standing nearby, Aminel also observed the Silvermoon Council's team comments. As a council member herself, she'd heard plenty of discussion about Grand Magister Belo'vir.
However, this time, the involvement of another magister had a personal motive. After a moment's deliberation, she headed to the temple where the association was being held.
The drawing of lots was unique. Leylin needed to use his own magical energy to activate the crystal ball before him, which would then begin to jump with numbers.
Leylin was no stranger to this scene. He activated the crystal ball in order, and the final number remained at 125. According to the rules of the competition, his opponent was 126. After advancing, he would continue the competition with the victorious constructs in the next group.
After the draw, Leylin went to fill in the construct's information. The arcane construct signed "Leylin" and the instructor was "Belo'vir".
It was simply cheating. This signature makes him one of the contenders of being ranked higher than the others.
Of course, Belo'vir was not the only strong magister in Silvermoon City. The Magisters and the Silvermoon Council also had several powerful competitors.
